We will have our downtown library visit tomorrow morning from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. All forms sent home by the library staff need to be returned by Friday. Thank you!

Reading: Read on a nightly basis. Document the time spent reading, title of the book, and a parent signature Monday through Thursday.

Math Homework:

Math Review Packet - Complete one page front and back nightly until all pages are completed. It is very important each student completes and returns the review work each night, Monday through Thursday. Students may complete the packet in any order, but the packet must be returned on a daily basis.

Spelling: Review Red Words and Green Word pattern dictation sheets for a test on Friday, April 5, 2019.

Red Words: watch, mother, already, shall, though

Red Word Focus

The Red Words for the week will be the 3rd Grade, 1st Quarter Red Words, watch, mother, already, shall, and though. The final test for these words will be on Friday, April 5th. The words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics. Students will take a test over these Red Words on Friday, April 5, 2019.

Green Word Focus

RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words

Our Green Word pattern will be the study of “Consonant-le Endings.” The endings are as follows: -ble, -tle, -gle, and -ple. In class we will be decoding words with these endings. Please practice these words as your child brings them home on dictation pages. Weekly spelling words will come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more words on their Friday, April 5, 2019, spelling test.

Reading Focus

At the end of this week, we will begin our study of the Titanic. Students will learn about the famous Titanic, including how it was constructed and the recent discovery of the vessel. Our reading selections include, Night on the Titanic and I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic. Our writing focus will continue to be poetry CCSS.ELA-WRITING.2.5)), and our grammar focus will be identifying and applying pronouns and reflexive pronouns into our writing. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.2.1.C

On Friday, April 5, 2019, the spelling test will include the Red Words, watch, mother, already, shall, and though, and the Green Word Pattern “Consonant-le Ending words with –ble, -tle, -gle, and –ple endings.
