*Reading Logs from Homeward Bound books - please read on a nightly basis. Students are required to read these books at home. Each student needs to turn in 2 reading log sheets per Interim, and a total of 4 reading log sheets per report card. Your child will receive a grade for turning in his/her completed reading logs.

Spelling: Study Red Words and Gold Words

This week the students will be learning about ck. C and k say (ck) separately and together. When they are together, as in black, they are usually at the end of a word. They never appear together at the beginning of a word. When you hear (k) sound after a short vowel in a one-syllable word, it is usually spelled with ck.

Our red words will continue to be from the third grade red word list. Students will be required weekly to spell three “red words” on his/her final spelling test on Friday. Our red words for this week are bury, caught, and clothes.

Our “Gold Vocabulary” words are as follows:

1. globe 6. intermediate

2. symbol 7. boundaries

3. compass rose

4. directions

5. cardinal

Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, February 6, 2015.

New Red Words: bury, caught, and clothes.
