Our Green Word pattern will be a review of the 4th quarter Green Word Patterns. The patterns are as follows: Vowel Teams: oa (boat), oe (toe), ea (sea), ee (see), ay (stay), and ai (paid); ea as in head and bread; igh as in bright and flight; Consonant-le endings—remember that when the consonant-le endings follow a short vowel sound, the first letter of the ending is usually doubled as in bat/tle; ble as in humble, fle as in sniffle, tle as in kettle, dle as in handle, gle as in giggle, kle as in rankle, ple as in simple, and zle as in puzzle. Please practice the Green Word patterns on the review dictation pages as your child brings them home. Weekly spelling words will come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more 4th quarter Green Word patterns on their Friday spelling test.
