Spelling Information for the Week of November 14, 2016 to November 18, 2016

Dear Parents,

Green Word Study

Our “Green Word” pattern for the week will be the vowel digraph, ee, as in see and meet, also referred to as a “vowel team.” The concept of the vowel team “ee” may be introduced by simply noting that “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.”

We practice spelling and writing words with “ee” during class each day. Please practice these words as your child brings them home on dictation pages. Weekly spelling words may come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more “ee” word on their Friday spelling test.

Vocabulary Study

Our spelling test will also include the reading vocabulary words achieve, mural, bored, and board from our reading text, “Miss Daisy is Crazy!”

Red Word Study

We will once again review the red words around and don’t. These words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics. Please remember, each student must receive a 100 percent for two weeks in a row to receive a final grade for these red words.

Please note that our final spelling test will be on Friday, November 18, 2016.

Thank you,

Mrs. Arp
