Spelling Information for the Week of March 20, 2017, to March 24, 2017

Study the following: Red Words: always, brother, other, sister, knew, were, yellow, should, their, sign, buy, often

Vocabulary Words: triangle, hexagon, pentagon, octagon, polygon

Green Word Patterns: ow, ar, or, ir, er, and ur

Green Word Study

This week our “Green Word” focus will be the review of several green word patterns from the 3rd quarter. These patterns are as follows: ow as in (snow), ow as in (clown), ar, or, ir, er, and ur.

Please practice these Green Word patterns that your child brings home on activity pages and dictation pages. Weekly spelling words may come from these pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to fifteen or more “Green Word Pattern” review words on their Friday, March 24th spelling test.

Vocabulary Study

Our spelling test will also include the math vocabulary words triangle, hexagon, pentagon, octagon, and polygon. These vocabulary words are from our math series, Module 8, Attributes of Geometric Shapes.

Red Word Study

Our red words for the week will be our third quarter red words. All of these words will also be on the Friday spelling test. Please remember that these words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics. These words are as follows: always, brother, other, sister, knew, were, yellow, should, their, sign, buy, and often.

Please note that our final spelling test for all words will be on Friday, March 24, 2017.
