Spelling Information for the Week of April 25 – April 29, 2016

Dear Parents,

Red Words

Our two new second grade Red Words for the week are oil and page. Please continue to practice these words and all 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd quarter Red Words for an end-of-the-year Red Word test the middle of May.

Green Words

This week begins our study of “Consonant-le Endings.” The endings are as follows: -ble, -tle,

-gle, and –ple. In class we will be decoding words with these endings. Please practice the words on the Tuesday and Thursday dictation pages that contain the –le endings. The dictation sheets will come home in your son/daughter’s folder. Weekly spelling words will come from the dictation pages and words that have a similar -le pattern.

Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, April 29, 2016.

Reading: Chapter books should be read by Friday, May 5, 2016, and the final book report/project is due by May 10, 2016.

Each student should have a chapter book that I can approve no later than Friday, April 29th, for the 3rd Reading Log requirement for the 4th quarter. The fourth Reading Log requirement will be in the form of a book project. This information will be sent home at the end of the week.

2 Reading Logs are due on April 29, 2016.
