Two more reading logs for a total of four will be due on January 14, 2016. Continue to read on a nightly basis.

Spelling Information for the Week of January 4, 2016 to January 8, 2016

“Green Words”

The students this week will learn about words in our language that are spelled the same and sound differently. The students know one way to spell /oo/ ---oo as in zoo, and now they will learn another way to spell it—ew as in grew. Students also know a way to spell /u/---u-consonant –magic e as in cute. We will now learn another way to spell –ew as in few. Students will be given words that contain this –ew pattern on a daily basis. Please refer to the dictation sheets to practice this pattern in various words.

“Red Words” Review Week!

Our red words for this week are all of our 1st quarter red words. The red words are as follows:

each, call, goes, pull, girl, white, talk, friend, which, very.

“Vocabulary Words”

There will be four additional spelling words this week that include vocabulary words from our reading selection, “Super Storms.” The words are beware, prevent, pounding, and equal.
