Spelling Information for the Week of April 19 – April 22, 2016

Dear Parents,

Red Words

Our two new second grade Red Words for the week are sure and ghost. Please continue to practice these words and all 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd quarter Red Words for an end-of-the-year Red Word test late in May.

Green Words

Our Green Word pattern for this week will be another pronunciation for the diphthong ow -- /ow/ as in clown. We will now learn that ow can be pronounced -- /o/ as in snow. The ow spelling for /o/ is usually found at the end of a word or syllable. Please practice the words on the Wednesday and Thursday dictation pages that contain the diphthong ow. The dictation sheets will come home in your son/daughter’s folder. Weekly spelling words will come from the dictation pages and words that have a similar ow pattern.

Please note that this week’s final spelling test will be on Friday, April 22, 2016.
