Dear Parents,

Red Words: Please study all 3rd Quarter Red Word Review words.

Red Word Focus

Our Red Word test this week will be on Friday and will be over all of the 3rd Quarter Red Words. This is a summative test for all 3rd Quarter Red Words. These words are as follows: always, brother, other, sister, knew, were, yellow, should, their, sign, buy, and often. These words are non-decodable words and do not follow the rules of phonics. Students will have a spelling test on Friday to show mastery of these words.

Green Word Focus

RF.2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words

Our “Green Word” pattern/focus for the week will be the review of the vowel teams (VT) oa, oe, ai, ay, ee, and ea. Students will complete activities for words that contain these vowel teams throughout the week. Please practice these words as your child brings them home on dictation pages. Weekly spelling words may come from the dictation pages. Students will be expected to apply all classroom information to ten or more vowel team review words on their Friday, February 28th spelling test.
