Official Opening

The official opening of the new pitch and walking track will take place in Caulry GAA Club on Sunday, September 23^rd from 2-5pm. There will also be mass offered for all Caulry members both living and deceased in Corpus Christi Church at 11am. Everyone welcome to attend.

IFC Fixture

Our lads make the journey to Hogan Park, Moate on Saturday evening next for the fifth and final group-stage game in this year’s IFC. Caulry will battle it out against Tang in this enticing affair. Our lads are currently in second place on the league table with six points, just above Tang on four. A win on the evening will secure our lads an all-important semi-final spot in the knock-out stages of this year’s campaign. Caulry will be hoping to build on last week’s win over Bunbrosna and notch up their fourth consecutive win on the evening. Kick-off for this clash is at 4:30pm and all supporters are encouraged to get behind the team. Good luck lads.

U17 Championship

Caulry 4-10

St. Marys Rochfortbridge 3-8

Our U17s progress to the next stage of this year’s championship with their win over St. Marys Rochfortbridge in the park on Wednesday evening last.

Caulry hit the ground running with a quick point from Senan Baker after his initial shot on goal was saved. An early attempt from Luke Buckley came back off the upright as Alan Malynn doubled the deficit with his converted-free. Some tenacious defending from Colm Shortall and Sean Murphy held the opposition scoreless as Roan Sweeney rattled the back of the St. Mary’s net at the other end of the field after a display of nice combined teamwork. As Buckley’s goal attempt went astray, the opposition got off the mark with a fine point from play. St. Marys were unlucky as a shot on goal rattled back off the crossbar as they had to settle for a point on the 11^th minute. The game then went on a point for point basis with Sweeney and Buckley on target for Caulry. Ciaran Gaynor made a vital block down in the Caulry defence, setting up an attack in which Baker finished leaving Caulry leading 2-4 to 0-4 at the interval.

An early Caulry goal attempt was cleared as St. Marys tagged on 1-1 to reduce the deficit to two. However, the Caulry lead was soon restored after a brace of points from Malynn and Daniel Buckley. James Clavin brought off a number of vital intercepts as impressive defending from Olan Healy enabled Baker to add to the scoring tally on the 44^th minute. The teams then exchanged a free each before two quick goals from Buckley put Caulry in the driving seat. However, the opposition never gave up as they added an unanswered 2-2 before the final whistle which saw Caulry run out winners with five points to spare on a scoreline of 4-10 to 3-8.

U14 Championship Shield Semi-Final

Caulry 4-10

St. Marys Rochfortbridge 7-11

Our U14s bowed out of this year’s championship when they were defeated by St. Marys Rochfortbridge in the park on Saturday afternoon last.

Caulry started the game well with a fine point from Alan Lynam. St. Marys Rochfortbridge soon got off the mark after their defence denied Caulry a goal on the 4^th minute. Our boys then took the lead as Tiarnan O’Donovan riffled the back of the opposition’s net. O’Donovan then doubled the deficit with a second goal after some fine work from Harry Stuart Trainor. Andrew Stuart Trainor added a point soon after as St. Marys Rochfortbridge struggled up front thanks to some good defending from David Gaynor and Tadgh Baker. However, the opposition then put their stamp on proceedings between the 20^th and 25^th minutes, tagging on an unanswered 1-4 to level the game. O’Donovan edged Caulry in front with his point before St. Marys Rochfortbridge added 1-1. A late free from Oisin Shortall saw Caulry trail 2-6 to 2-4 at the halftime whistle.

The opposition got off to a great start in the second half, adding 5-2 early on. Points from Shortall and Josh Rhattigan drew three back. St. Marys kicked the next score of the game on the 50^th minute. Our lads dug deep with points from Aaron Murphy and Lynam reducing the deficit. Shortall then converted a penalty on the 54^th minute after some hard work from Murphy. Despite late scores from Shortall and Murphy, St. Marys ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 7-11 to 4-10.

Caulry 0-13

Bunbrosna 1-5

Our lads notched up their third consecutive win on Sunday evening last when they made the journey to TEG Cusack Park for the fourth round of this year’s IFC.

Peter Smyth opened the scoring tally 15 seconds after the throw-in with a fine point from play. Stephen Connolly then showed well as he won the kickout and found Cialan Dollard who pointed. Ben Kenny put our lads three points the good after a quick-free was taken by Colin Murphy. Bunbrosna then got off the mark with a pointed-free on the 5^th minute. The Caulry boys struggled to convert frees as a fine point from play for Bunbrosna left just one between the sides. Alan Daly put his name on the scoreboard with his superb effort despite being surrounded by a trio of defenders. Cillian Nagle cleared his goal-line well on the 22^nd minute before the ball was brilliantly worked up the field by Daly and Murphy setting Sean Clinton up for a point. Nagle brought off another vital save moments later as Kenny drove forward and slotted over his second point of the game. Bunbrosna drew one back as a brace of wides before the interval saw Caulry lead by double-scores at the break on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-3.

An early attack for our lads failed to pay dividends, adding to the tally of wides. Connolly settled proceedings with his point on the 34^th minute after combining nicely with Andy O’Sullivan. The Fox brothers worked tenaciously in defence as Dollard slotted over a free. However, Bunbrosna responded well as they made a burst up the field and rattled the back of the Caulry net. Damien Dolan never seemed phased as he tore out of the Caulry defence and fired over a point to restore the Caulry momentum. Ben Moran and Kevin Maguire had impressive displays as a fine pass from Maguire found Conor McCormack who tapped over a point to leave Caulry four points the good. The Caulry defence done well when under pressure with Maguire making a vital intercept when a goal looked on as the opposition settled for a point on the 53^rd minute. O’Sullivan and McCormack combined well enabling Dollard to add his third. The teams then exchanged points with Dolan adding for Caulry after some good work from Harry Hughes. A brace of hand-passes then followed as our lads attempted to run down the clock being four points in front. Clinton found Sean Fox who tapped over the last score of the game which saw our lads run out winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-5.
