Minor League

Caulry 6-11

Moate 0-6

Our minors had another comprehensive win in this year’s league campaign as they made the short journey to Hogan Park on Sunday morning last.

Both teams were slow to settle and were guilty of some wides early in the half. Our lads got off the mark on the 5^th minute with a well-taken goal from Sean Woods. Sean Fox soon followed suit with another goal two minutes later. Our lads began to push on in the early stages of the half with three unanswered points from Colin Murphy and Adam Mullins. Moate registered their first score of the game on the 23^rd minute with a fine point from play. They reduced the deficit soon after with a pointed-free. However, our defence worked well with Eoin Shortall and Rian Rasmussen valiant in their endeavours as further points from Murphy and Fox left Caulry leading 2-5 to 0-2 at the interval.

The second half followed in much the same vein with our lads dominating proceedings. Early scores from Woods and Murphy stretched Caulry’s lead. The opposition tried hard and pointed on the 34^th minute. A great inception from Jack Sheehan and a superb pass from Murphy found Woods who got his second goal of the morning. Murphy kicked the next two scores of the game to keep Caulry in the driving seat. Some good combined teamwork from Shane Cleary and Woods enabled Liam Malynn to rattle the back of the opposition’s net on the 44^th minute. A pointed-free for the opposition narrowed the margins. However, our lads worked hard as Malynn hit the back of the Moate net to register Caulry’s fourth goal. A superb pass from Darren Brown fell into Woods’ hands which allowed him to get his hat-trick. Our lads really pulled together as a team as Murphy added some more points to the scoring tally. A late point for Moate meant Caulry made it two wins out of two in this year’s league on a final scoreline of 6-11 to 0-6.
