Junior B Championship
Caulry 2-9
Tyrrellspass 3-10
Our Junior B side played host to Tyrrellspass in the park on Tuesday evening last for their second championship game.
Thomas Dunning got Caulry off the mark after 3 minutes before the visitors followed suit with a fine score from play. The teams then traded pointed-frees with Liam Malynn on target for Caulry. The sides were well-matched as another Tyrrellspass point preceded a fine score from Adam Donoghue. Tyrrellspass then doubled their lead as they made two great bursts up the field, finishing both moves with points. The teams shared two points before the break to leave Tyrrellspass in front 0-6 to 0-4.
Tyrrellspass got off to a great start in the second half and added 1-1 early on. Alan Malynn chipped away at the deficit with a well-taken goal on the 37th minute. A breakdown in our full-forward line set the opposition up for attack as they worked the ball down the field and rattled the back of the Caulry net. Our lads responded in style as Rory Mullins sent a high ball in and managed to sneak in a goal to the top corner of the net. A trio of points from Shane Lawless, Donoghue and Mullins soon had Caulry on par with the opposition. Once again, the game went on a tit-for-tat basis with Malynn and Dunning adding to our scoring account. Tyrrellspass then struck lucky late in the game as they riffled the back of the net on the 59th minute. A point moments later cushioned their lead, as they ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-10 to 2-9.
