Caulry 4-10

Mullingar Shamrocks 2-8

Caulry welcomed Mullingar Shamrocks to our local grounds on Wednesday last. With many of the same players which starred in an epic Under 14 championship game last year on duty again, the teams proceeded to produce an entertaining and lively opening league encounter. Playing enterprisingly and with good combination play throughout, Caulry held the upperhand throughout and led 1-8 to 1-2 at the interval. The goal was brilliantly finished low to the left hand corner by Neil Clinton after a great end to end move and a direct response to a Mullingar major. With Colin Murphy and Sean Fox continuing to dominate midfield possession on the resumption, Caulry tacked on some excellent scores, with Shane Cleary crashing right footed effort to the top right hand of the net, a candidate for early goal of the season. Apart from those already mentioned, Jack Sheehan, Dylan Lowry, Sam Nolan and Sean Woods were excellent in defensive duties and the launch pad for many attacks. Lee Guinan was very elusive, while special mention must go to Darcy Lawless and Liam Malynn, who each shared a half in goal and in the forwards, and proved equally adept saving as well as scoring, bringing the total football concept to another level. To finish off, Cillian Dollard, scored a signature penalty in what is possibly his last match for some time as he heads off to sunnier chimes and we wish him well and look forward to a return in the future.

Under 14 Feile Peil na Nog

Caulry 5-5

St Lomans Mullingar 4-5

Caulry played host to St Lomans Mullingar on Sunday evening last in the Under 14 Feile quarter final. This game was a real ding dong affair from start to finish. After five minutes Lomans led two to no score and but for two unbelievable saves from Westmeath under 14 keeper, James Clavin, it would have been four and probably game over. However, gradually asserted their game and proceeded to dominate. However, some miraculous misses, goal line clearances meant it was telling on the score board. Eventually a point from Roan Sweeney and an Adam Donoghue penalty goal got us moving, followed by two inspirational points from Jamie Conlon and Zach Nolan to level. However, Lomans broke away for another goal, before Caulry finished the half strongly with two further Adam Donoghue goals. Half time score 3-4 to 3-1 for the men in red. The second period continued the end to end action. The blues scored two belters to edge in front, before little Olan Healy brilliantly flicked to the net. Points were traded and it looked like extra time. But once again, Olan Healy stepped forward and even through a point was on, he went for the jugular and crashed to the net. If only Westmeath Senior manager, Tom Cribbin, could package that piece. However, the drama continued

right into injury time and could have went either way, but a relieved Caulry went through to meet Killucan in the semi-final provisionally fixed for next Saturday in Caulry

Greyhound Racing Fundraiser-Baylin NS

On the 19^th April Baylin NS are holding a fundraising event at Mullingar Greyhound Track, first race is at 4pm. All proceeds from tickets bought in advance go towards Baylin NS.
