U14 League

Caulry 5-15

Garrycastle 1-5

Our U14 boys had a good win over Garrycastle in the park on Monday evening last.

The Caulry lads hit the ground running with a well-taken goal from Aaron Murphy. Although we set up good attacks, our boys struggled to rack up the scores as a few attempts went wide of the posts before Andrew Stuart Trainor settled proceedings with the opening point of the game. Ian Malone brought off a good save in goals as two quick-fire three-pointers at the other end of the field from Tiarnan O’Donovan and Conor Hynes really put our lads in the driving seat. Garrycastle struggled to get the ball up the field as points from Aaron Hanevy, Murphy, Hynes and O’Donovan stretched the margins between the sides. Garrycastle drew one back with a fine point on the 23rd minute. However, scores from Stuart Trainor, Murphy and Dean Byrne saw Caulry leading comfortably at the break.

The opposition started the better of the two sides with a quick point soon after the resumption of play. Malone brought off another fine save before the opposition were rewarded a penalty which was neatly finished into the back of the Caulry net. Hanevy then got the homeside back on track as his helped an effort from Hynes into the back of the Garrycastle net. Cian Lawless and Cody Parker defended well as the next two scores of the game came from the boots of O’Donovan and Max O’Sullivan. Cormac Murphy put his name on the scoresheet before Garrycastle responded with two points of their own. Caulry displayed some nice combined teamwork throughout the game as points from Cormac and Aaron Murphy and O’Donovan sealed the win on a scoreline of 5-15 to 1-5.
