Div 2 County League

Caulry 1-13 CFCW 1-9

Caulry made the long trip to the Cavan border (Finea) to take on north Westmeath combination side Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall in the third round of the League. This turned out to be great game of

football played with championship intensity throughout. The first half was evenly contested with the two defenses on top and scores very hard to come by. Caulry went in at the break with a slender one point lead on a score of 4 points to 3 thanks to some fine points from play by David Brookes (2), Peter Smyth and Alan Rigney.

The game opened up in the second half and Caulry were unlucky to concede a goal early on to put

CFCW into the lead. However some great fighting spirit by Caulry coupled with some nice team football being played from one to fifteen and well taken points from play by Alan Fitzpatrick, Damien Dolan, Alan Rigney and Johnny Dolan (right) saw Caulry regain the lead, and with an opportunist goal shortly after by Peter Smyth, Caulry put some daylight between themselves and the opposition.

CFCW continued to battle away with some fine points of their own but Caulry held the initiative until the end and ran out deserving 4-point winners on a scoreline of Caulry 1-13, CFCW 1-9. This was Caulry's

first brace of points following three games todate and was a welcome relief to the Management Team who can now look forward to bigger tests ahead knowing they have a formidable squad in place for the season.

U14 Feile

On Saturday last 24th March Caulry U14’s took on the combination side of St Malachy’s and Ballinagore in the quarter final stage of the Feile competition. The first half was very entertaining with both teams putting everything on the line and some excellent football on show. The Caulry lads dominated the first half in terms of possession but yet only had two points advantage at half time with a score line of 4-03 to 3-04.

St Malachy’s and Ballinagore started the second half with more determination and with the aid of a slight breeze they soon took the lead and did not relinquish it, finishing up worthy winners. Despite

losing the Caulry lads can take some solace from the game with some good moves, good defending and goal keeping and well taken scores, however the fitness levels must rise if progress is to be made.

Fundraiser

Caulry GAA are hosting a Social evening in the Well, Moate on Easter Sunday night April 8th to raise funds for the Club. Music will be provided by the well-known Crystal Swing Band. Tickets can be had on entry at the door and a great night's entertainment is in prospect.

The Club are hoping for a large local support on the night.
