U12 League
Our U12 boys hosted The Downs on Tuesday evening last in the park for their latest league game. A fine score from Lee Corcoran got our boys off the mark before The Downs took the lead with two quick points. Rory Hatton then equalised on the 9th minute. However, despite a fine display of defending from Daniel Lynam and Eoin McCormack, The Downs began to dominate and built up a strong lead. Luke Nolan and Ciaran Dunning both impressed when playing their turn in goals as points from Cian Malone and Brian Doyle chipped away at the deficit. Simon O’Grady then put his name on the scoresheet before the visitors kicked three fine points. Lee Corcoran rattled the back of the opposition’s net as late scores for The Downs sealed their win on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-8.

Minor League
Caulry 2-9
Lilliput Gaels 2-13
On a wet and showery Wednesday evening last, our minors made the journey to Ballinagore for their sixth round of this year’s league.
Lilliput Gaels were first to launch an attack which trickled out wide before a pass from Sean Malone found Alan Malynn who opened the scoring account. The opposition were guilty of a few more missed chances before a converted-free on the 7th minute got them off the mark. Lilliput Gaels then kicked the next two points of the game, one after a patient build-up of play and the other after a fine save from James Clavin deflected the ball over the bar. Malynn then drew one back as he converted a short-range free. An exchange of points from the sides preceded the first goal of the game which came as the opposition rattled the back of the Caulry net on the 20th minute. Clavin diffused further threats from the homeside’s forward line as a point from Senan Baker welcomed the halftime whistle to leave Caulry trailing 1-4 to 0-4 at the break.
Our lads hit the ground running with Luke Buckley sending over a fine score soon after the restart of play. A point on the 9th minute made it a three-point game once again. James Buckley worked hard when introduced as he set Conor McKnight up for a score on the 41st minute. However, Lilliput Gaels soon regained initiative as their no. 9 tore through the Caulry defence and riffled the back of the net. The opposition then attacked the next three kickouts, two of which resulted in two fine scores from play. Shane Lawless put his name on the scoresheet on the 46th minute to narrow the deficit. Adam Donoghue then made his presence felt as he hit the back of the Lilliput Gaels’ net on the 51st minute. The teams traded points before a second goal courtesy of Malynn reduced the margins to one. However, the opposition never looked phased as they outscored our lads 0-4 to 0-1 to take the win on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-9.

IFC Round 1
Caulry 1-9
Moate 3-8
Our lads fell short in their first outing of this year’s IFC when they made the journey to Tubberclair on a sunny Sunday evening last.
It was the opposition who opened the scoring account after converting a short-range free. Our first attack failed to pay dividends as Andy O’Sullivan got Caulry off the mark on the 4th minute from a placed ball. The teams then traded wides before Conor McCormack sent over a fine point after some good play by Kevin Maguire. Our lads then missed a number of scoreable chances between the 8th and 21st minutes as the opposition racked up four unanswered points. A drag down on Paddy Sleator resulted in a penalty which McCormack neatly converted to level the game. McCormack and O’Sullivan both sent over frees as a late point from play from Alan Daly saw Caulry lead 1-5 to 0-5 at the break.
Moate raced out of the tracks and rattled the back of the Caulry net to level proceedings within the minute of the second half. Sleator edged Caulry in front soon after after a good build of play from the kickout. Moate were patient in attack as a fisted-effort level the score once again. Cialan Dollard then registered the next point of the game, although a goal looked on the cards. Our lads were guilty of some wasteful possession and unsuccessful attacks as Moate riffled the back of the Caulry net twice on the 44th and 49th minutes to take the lead. The teams then shared four points in the remaining 10 minutes which saw our lads trail at the fulltime whistle on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-9.
