U/21 Premier Championship - 9th November 7.30pm
Caulry U/21s commence this year's Co.Championship with a Quarter-Final game away to Garrycastle next Friday night , November 9th at 7.30pm. Garrycastle have aready defeated St. Malachys-Ballinagore in the first round and the winners of next Friday's game will play Maryland-Tang in a semi-final tie.
Fielding a number of players who featured in last month's Intermediate Championship Final, Caulry U/21s are hoping for a good run in this year's 15-aside Premier competition and the club are hoping for a large turn-out of our supporters on the night.
Seamus Dolan Memorial Cup 29/09/2011
On October Bank Holiday Monday last, Caulry hosted a three team tournament blitz for the Seamus Dolan Memorial Cup. The football fare on offer on a wintery cold wet day was a fitting tribute to the late Seamus, who died in 1988 at the young age of 26. Seamus was at the time minor board chairman in addition to be an excellent player on the then Caulry senior team.
The format was a round robin 15-a-side, with the age limit under 13, providing a preview of next year’s under 14 line-ups. Athlone and The Downs were first into action and this proved a great close contest all through. However a goal for the Shannonsiders near the finish left the black and ambers to rue a number of missed scoring opportunities. Final score: Athlone 1-6 The Downs 0-3
The Downs then took on the host club and again a very keenly contested affair ensued despite the insistent rain. While The Downs kicked some great points, the old saying goals win matches proved true once again. Any team with a player of Matthew Nally’s ability are always likely to score three pointers, as Matthew scored three majors with typical skill and aggression. With Christian Stephens in brilliant goalkeeping form and Neil Clinton hovering up in defence, Caulry provided stubborn resistance. In addition Colin Murphy, Darren Browne and Sean Fox continually drove downfield to provide forward momentum. Caulry prevailed on a 5-4 to 1-11 scoreline.
With the Athlone boys having the benefit of the shelter, it was a wet and weary home side that took the field for the final encounter. A blistering start from the boys in blue put them in a strong position which they never looked likely to lose, despite the trojan efforts of Cillain Dollard, Shane Cleary, Colin Murphy and Matthew Nally. Athlone ran out deserving winners on a 4-6 to 0-2 scoreline.

Afterwards, the Seamus Dolan Memorial cup was presented to the winning Athlone captain, Patrick Cleary by organiser, T.J. Dunning, and all participating players received medals and refreshments. Once again the ladies led by Breda Malynn, Eleanor Mullins and Adrienne Dollard excelled in ensuring everyone was well refreshed and looked after. Our thanks to John Lennon on an excellent refereeing job. Also thanks to Matt Murphy, Gerry Donoghue and James Hatton for all their assistance once again.

Well done to local emigrant and former Caulry player, Nestor Allen who starred at corner-forward for the Westmeath Junior side who won the New York Junior Football League Final last week when defeating Cavan by 3-15 to 1-17.
