Congratulations to the Clavin family who were the lucky winners of the €9,200 jackpot prize in the recent Caulry lotto draw which was held on the 6^th February 2017. The Clavin family are good supporters of the club and so are very deserving winners.

Underage Registration

Registration for all players takes place this Wednesday at 7-8pm in the clubhouse. There will be a full range of club gear, club lotto and some refreshments on the night.

U13 Inter-County League

Caulry 7-10

Cellbridge 1-0

Our U13 side played host to Cellbridge on Saturday afternoon last for their latest Inter-County League game.

Caulry hit the ground running with a well taken goal from Conor Hynes inside the opening 60 seconds. Some good play from Alan Lynam and Oisin Shorthall enabled Paul Hogan to kick Caulry’s first point of the game. The Cellbridge goalie brought off some great saves as his side was unlucky to miss a goal at the opposite end of the field. Cian Heavin and Ben Claffey defended well as a pointed-free from Alan Lynam stretched the homeside’s lead. Ian Malone brought off a good save in goals. However, the rebound of which was slotted into the back of the net after some good play from the Cellbridge forwards. A late goal from Andrew Stuart Trainor left four points between the sides as the halftime whistle.

A scoreless second half was in store for the visitors as Caulry began to push on with the help of a strong breeze on their backs. Early points from Paul Hogan and Alan Lynam and goals from Conor Hynes and Oisin Shortall meant Caulry began to build up a commanding lead. Our defence done well with Harry Stuart Trainor, Michael McDonnald and Tiarnan O’Donovan having impressive displays as Josh Rattigan and Brendan Kelly McCormack worked well up front. Scores from Alan Lynam, Oisin Shorthall and Andrew Stuart Trainor kept the scoreboard ticking over. Some good play from Tadgh Baker allowed Daniel Doyle and Joey Berry to add to the scoring tally late in the game to ensure Caulry the win on a scoreline of 7-10 to 1-0.

Division 2 ACFL

Caulry 1-13

Shandonagh 1-14

Caulry played host to Shandonagh for their opening game in this year’s Division 2 ACFL on Saturday evening last.

The visitors raced out of the tracks with a quick pointed-free. Conor McCormack levelled the margins on the 3^rd minute. Some good combined teamwork from Sean Doyle, Gary Flanagan and Andy O’Sullivan enabled Peter Smyth to slot the ball over the bar. Another point from Smyth left two points between the teams by the 8^th minute. However, Shandonagh soon found their feet with their first point from play coming on the quarter-hour mark. The teams traded scores with McCormack and Robbie Hickey on target for the homeside. Andy O’Sullivan kicked the next two scores of the game to put Caulry in the driving seat once again. However, the Shandonagh lads worked hard and rattled the back of the Caulry net on the 25^th minute. Two unanswered points for the opposition left Shandonagh leading 1-6 to 0-8 at the interval.

On the resumption, a quick pointed-free for Shandonagh stretched their lead. Sean Clinton defended well as points from Eoghan Grennan and Smyth reduced the deficit. A missed goal opportunity for our lads meant McCormack had to settle for a point on the 42^nd minute. The opposition kicked the next two scores of the game to keep their noses in front. The teams exchanged scores with Emmet Nally adding to the scoring tally. Smyth pointed late in the half to leave just three points between the sides. However, Shandonagh worked hard, tapping over another pointed free. A good pass from McCormack enabled Alan Daly to send the ball to the back of the opposition’s net well into injury-time to leave the narrowest of margins between the sides at the fulltime whistle.

Caulry 2-17

Tubberclair 1-4

Our junior side made the journey to Tubberclair on Sunday morning last for their first Division 4 ACFL fixture and ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-4.

Our lads started the game well with quick scores from Declan Donohoe and Eoghan Grennan. Some good combined teamwork enabled Peter Smyth and Andy O'Sullivan to tap over some fine points. A good pass from Alan Daly found Conor McCormack who rattled the back of the Tubberclair net on the 6th minute. The opposition were slow to settle with their first score of the game coming on the 15th minute. The game went on a point-for-point basis with O'Sullivan, Smyth and Jack O'Kelly Lynch on target for Caulry to leave eight points between the sides at the halftime whistle.

Early in the second half, Caulry went on a quick scoring blitz which yielded an unanswered 1-5. The Tubberclair lads worked hard and narrowed the margins with a goal on the 44th minute. Ernie Buckley kicked the next score of the game, which was soon followed by a Tubberclair point. However, three unanswered points from Daly and O’Sullivan ensure Caulry ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-4.
