All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw
Caulry are holding an All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw on this Friday 15th September 2017 in Egan’s Pub, Mount Temple. There are lots of prizes up for grabs on the night including four tickets for the All Ireland Football Final. Tickets are €5 each or €10 for a book of three and are available from any committee member and Kieran’s shop, Mount Temple.
Minor Championship Quarter-Final
Caulry 5-11
Millmore Gaels 1-10
Our minor lads progress to the semi-final stages of this year’s Division 2 MFC with their comfortable win over Millmore Gaels on Wednesday evening last in the local park.
Both sides were slow to settle and were guilty of missing some scoring opportunities. The opposition opened the scoring account with two fine points on the 6th and 7th minute respectively. A well-taken goal from Liam Malynn after good work from Sean Woods put Caulry into the ascendancy. Woods then doubled the deficit with a fisted effort on the 9th minute. James Clavin brought off a fine save as the Millmore Gaels lads tied proceedings with two unanswered points. Adam Donoghue sent in a perfectly floating ball which dropped into the back of the Millmore Gaels’ net to put Caulry three points the good with 13 minutes played. The Caulry boys began sending the long ball in as their work paid dividends with Cialan Dollard adding an unanswered 1-3 to the scoring tally. Sean Fox and Lee Guinan Malone worked hard out field as scores from Malynn and Woods cushioned Caulry’s lead. Eoin Shortall showed well in defence as the visitors were unlucky to miss a goal late in the half. The teams traded points just before the interval to leave Caulry leading 4-8 to 0-5 at the break.
On the resumption, the opposition raced out of the tracks with a pointed-free drawing one back. Colin Murphy fielded well as Woods slotted over fine point. However, the opposition dug deep, tapping over three quick points to narrow the margins between the sides. This lead was shortly restored as Matthew Nally put his name on the scoreboard with a well-taken goal on the 39th minute. Clavin brought off a brace of saves in goals and was unlucky as Millmore Gaels’ third attempt proved successful. Dylan Lowry defended well as a late point from Dollard secure Caulry a semi-final spot on a scoreline of 5-11 to 1-10.

U12 Garrycastle Tournament
Our U12 boys suffered their first defeat in this year’s Garrycastle Tournament on Thursday evening last when they played host to Athlone.
Our boys were slow to start as Athlone pointed to take the lead early in the half. The Athlone goalie brought off a good save as Tiarnan O’Donovan and Oisin Shortall tried hard. Despite good defending from Darragh Shortall and David Gaynor, the Athlone boys kicked two unanswered points. However, our boys soon drew level as Aaron Hanevy rattled the opposition’s net on the 15th minute. Aaron Murphy worked hard in defence as a point from Tadgh Baker saw Caulry lead by one at the halftime whistle.
Cian Lawless worked hard when introduced early in the second half as our boys missed some scoring chances to push on. Athlone drew level with a fine point from play. Ian Malone brought off a good save to keep our lads within touching difference. However, the Athlone bench proved too strong for our lads as they kicked an unanswered 1-3. Andrew Stuart Trainor drew one back on the 40th minute. However, late scores for Athlone meant they ran out worthy winners on the evening.

U10 Larry Nugent Tournament
Our U10 boys had a very busy morning on Saturday as they played host to a series of teams for the annual Larry Nugent Tournament. Six teams took part in the blitz including Caulry, Ballymahon, Rosemount, Castledaly, Tubberclair and Moate. Proceedings began at 11am and after some exciting games, the final pairings were as follows:
Cup Final: Caulry vs. Tubberclair
Shield Final: Rosemount vs. Moate
Plate Final: Castledaly vs. Ballymahon
After the games were played, the winning teams of Tubberclair, Rosemount and Ballymahon along with the runners-up were then presented with their medals by Larry Nugent Jnr. on behalf of the Nugent family Our minor-board chairman Richard Higgins then expressed his gratitude to all involved in the organising of the day.
Well done to all the teams and managements involved. A huge thanks to the parents who provided refreshments on the day and to Gerry Duignan, Matthew Nugent and Sean Fox for referring. Well done all!
Larry Nugent Cup Final
After winning both their group-stage games against Rosemount and Ballymahon, our U10 boys qualified for the Larry Nugent Cup Final against Tubberclair. Our boys played well throughout with Ciaran Leen and Rory Hatton showing well at midfield. Early scores from Brian Doyle and Tyler Mason got Caulry off the mark. However, the Tubberclair boys responded well with fine points of their own to lead by one at the interval. Fionn O’Donovan brought off some vital saves throughout the second half as Tubberclair began to push on. Our defence tried hard when put under pressure with Cian Malone, Lee Fallon and Michael McSharry having standout performances as Lee Corcoran and Simon O’Grady impressed upfront. However, a series of late scores for Tubberclair secured their win as they were crowed Larry Nugent Cup Winners.

U6 Nursey Blitz
Well done to our U6 Nursey Group who fielded two teams on Saturday morning last in their second blitz against Moate, Tubber and Castledaly. It was a great morning of football for all the kids involved. We would like to thank Moate for inviting us and for the refreshments and treats for the children.
