All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw

Caulry are holding an All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw on Friday 15th September 2017 in Egan’s Pub, Mount Temple. There are lots of prizes up for grabs on the night including 4 tickets for the All Ireland Football Final. Tickets are €5 each or €10 for a book of three and are available from any committee member and Kieran’s shop, Mount Temple.

U10 Blitz

Well done to our U10 boys who hosted a blitz on Tuesday evening last in the local park. Three clubs took part on the evening, including Caulry, Maryland/Tang and Millmore Gaels. There was some great football played by all teams. Well done to all involved on the evening.

Minor Championship

Caulry 5-8

Lilliput Gaels 1-17

Our minor lads notched up their first brace of points in this year’s MFC as they made the journey to Ballinagore on a fine Wednesday evening last.

Lilliput Gaels were first off the mark in this exciting encounter as they pointed from play just 1 minute after the throw-in. Our boys soon found their feet as Lee Guinan Malone rattled the back of the opposition’s net. Matthew Nally kicked two fine points as the Lilliput Gaels were unlucky to miss some goal opportunities. Lilliput Gaels reduced the deficit to just one point by the 13^th minute as they kicked three fine points. However, a pointed-free from Cialan Dollard settled our lads. Caulry got another goal on the 16^th minute to put our lads in charge of proceedings. Sean Woods registered his first score of the game to leave six points the margin. Our lads began to push on after some superb combined teamwork from Woods and Adam Mullins found Neil Clinton who got Caulry’s third goal of the evening. However, the Lilliput Gaels boys never gave up, scoring 1-1 to narrow the deficit. The teams traded scores with Liam Malynn on target for Caulry after some good work from Dollard and Nally. A foul on Woods late into injury-time resulted in a penalty which was slotted neatly into the Lilliput Gaels net to leave Caulry leading 4-5 to 1-6 at the halftime whistle.

The Lilliput Gaels boys must be admired for their second half performance as they raced out of the tracks with three unanswered points. Eoin Shortall and Jack Sheehan defended well after some good work from Lee, Dollard and Adam Donoghue enabled Nally to point on the 40^th minute. The teams exchanged scores again with Donoghue contributing to Caulry’s tally. A great pass from Lee Guinan Malone found Nally who stretched Caulry’s lead with another fine goal. However, the Lilliput Gaels boys responded well, kicking an unanswered 0-4 to leave just three points between the sides late in the half. Both teams kicked points late into injury-time which meant Caulry had done enough to secure the win on a scoreline of 5-8 to 1-17.

Junior Championship

Caulry 0-15

Tyrrellspass 1-11

Our minors paved the way for a junior team on the following Thursday evening as they also registered their first win in their second outing of this year’s JFC when they made the journey to Tyrrellspass.

Both teams were slow to settle and were guilty of some early wides. A point from Jack O’Kelly Lynch got Caulry off the mark on the 4^th minute. A good intercept from Darren Hynds was worked brilliantly up the field and tapped over the bar by Eoin Donohoe. Mark Fitzpatrick showed well in goals as another point from O’Kelly Lynch left three points the margin. Tyrrellspass soon found their feet with two fine points on the 8^th and the 11^th minute. The three Buckley brothers combined well as a point from Evan Roarke doubled the deficit. James Daly and Ernie Buckley fielded well as Peter Smyth and Donohoe kicked the next two scores of the game. Hynds raced up the field and put his name on the scoreboard with another fine point on the 23^rd minute. This was soon followed by a Keith McMenamin point, leaving six points between the sides. However, the Tyrrellspass men battled hard in the remaining five minutes of the first half and kicked three unanswered points to leave Caulry leading 0-8 to 0-5 at the break.

Tyrrellspass started the second half well, opening their scoring account with a goal just 20 seconds after the resumption. Smyth tapped over two frees to keep Caulry in front. The game went on a point-for-point basis between the 35^th and 40^th minute, with Smyth accounting for three converted-frees for Caulry. Brian Mullarney and Pat Buckley defended well as a superb pass from Sylvester Coughlan found O’Kelly Lynch who pointed to leave two points between the sides. Fitzpatrick brought off another fine save as Tyrrellspass drew level on the 54^th minute with two converted-frees. Loughlin Casey pressurised the Tyrrellspass attack as another Smyth free at the other end of the field edged Caulry in front. However, this lead was shortly lived as the opposition drew level with another pointed-free with one minute remaining. The Caulry lads dug deep as a good pass from Hynds found Smyth who pointed on the 31^st minute which saw Caulry escape with a narrow win on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-11.

Senior Championship

Caulry 1-8

Rosemount 2-8

Caulry suffered their third narrow defeat in this year’s SFC when they made the journey to Cusack Park on a fine Sunday evening last.

Caulry were slow to settle, missing some early scoring opportunities. Rosemount got off the mark on the 5^th minute with a pointed-free. Conor McCormack soon equalised. However, the opposition went on a quick scoring blitz between the 10^th and 12^th minute which yielded an unanswered 2-3. A point from Emmet Nally reduced the deficit on the quarter-hour mark. However, Rosemount responded well with two more points. Caulry were unlucky, missing a penalty opportunity late in the half after McCormack hit the crossbar. A superb pass from Damien Dolan found Cialan Dollard who pointed. A converted-penalty from Nally late in the half left the scoreboard reading 2-6 to 1-3 at the halftime whistle.

Rosemount opened the scoring tally again in the second half with a fine point from play. Sean Clinton and Dolan defended well as the opposition missed a shot on goal. Tow converted-frees from Alan Fitzpatrick and McCormack narrowed the margins between the sides. A superb score from McCormack on the 44^th minute left just four points between the sides. Kevin Maguire worked hard in defence as McCormack pointed another free. The teams traded scores late in the half with Peter Smyth on target for Caulry. Ultimately, our lads chased the deficit throughout as Rosemount ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-8.

The club wishes Robbie Hickey a speedy recover after he picked up an injury during the game.
