Mobile Cardiac Screening

Caulry GAA will host a Mobile Cardiac Screening in the park on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30am to 5pm. This service costs €67.50 per person or is free with LAYA Health Insurance. For more information on how to book, visit www.ameds.ie or check out our Facebook page.

Intermediate Championship Final Fixture

All roads lead to TEG Cusack Park on Sunday next for the eagerly awaited intermediate championship county final when Caulry take on Milltownpass. Both sides met in the round 3 group-stages of this year’s campaign, where our lads managed to get the better of the opposition on a scoreline of 3-11 to 2-8. Our lads will be hoping to continue on their winning ways and claim the coveted intermediate title for a fifth time in the club’s history. It has been a 5 year wait since we last claimed the title in 2014 and our lads will undoubtedly be hungry for the win when they take to the field on Sunday at 4pm. This year also marks the 50th anniversary since we lifted the Peter Geraghty cup in 1969 so hopes are high that our lads will follow suit on Sunday evening. All supporters are asked to cheer on the Caulry lads in their bid for glory and their effort to bring the Peter Geraghty Cup back to the parish once again.

IFC Semi-Final Replay

Caulry 1-12

Tang 3-4

There was not much separating Caulry and Tang when both sides took to the field in Athlone for the semi-final replay of the intermediate championship on Sunday afternoon last.

Conor McCormack opened the scoring tally after 2 minutes after combining nicely with Paddy Sleator. Our lads then missed two scoring chances after an attempt from Emmet Nally was blocked down and Andy O’Sullivan’s effort fell wide of the target before Tang put their noses in front with two points from play. This lead was short-lived as a good passage of play from Damien Dolan, Sean Clinton and Nally set Gary Flanagan up for a goal on the 8th minute. Sean Fox defended well as he worked the ball up the field through O’Sullivan and Colin Murphy, with Murphy finishing the move with a fine point. However, Tang then hit a purple patch as they dominated midfield and rattled off two quick goals to put them three points the good. Our lads were not going to back down though, as they dug deep for the remaining 10 minutes as points from O’Sullivan, Stephen Connolly and Murphy had it level-pegging at the interval on a scoreline of 1-5 to 2-2.

Caulry started the second half well with Connolly adding his second after 30 seconds. McCormack and Kevin Maguire worked hard out the field as they set Nally and Dolan up for points moments later. Murphy then stretched the Caulry lead to four after a brilliant intercept from Dolan. However, Tang were soon brought back within the minimum margin after being awarded a penalty on the 39th minute, which they converted on their third effort after two saves from Cillian Nagle. Both teams then missed some scoring chances with the next score of the game coming on the 53rd minute as Tang levelled the match. O’Sullivan was fouled up front and Murphy slotted over the ensuing free to edge Caulry ahead. The teams then traded points with McCormack adding one for Caulry. Flanagan restored Caulry’s tw- point lead on the 60th minute as the Caulry defence held strong, denying Tang’s threat for scores to ensure their county final spot on a scoreline of 1-12 to 3-4.
