Junior B Championship

Caulry 2-12

Tubberclair 4-1

Our Junior B side made the short journey to Tubberclair on Tuesday evening last for their opening game of the championship.

The homeside hit the ground running with a goal minutes from the start. Two points from Thomas Dunning brought the deficit back to one before Tubberclair shot low again and notched up another three-pointer. Despite commanding a lot of the following minutes of play, we didn’t make the most of our chances with just two of our five on target, these from the boots of Alan Malynn and Sean Doyle. The game then went on a point-for-point basis with Shane Lawless, Hugh Allen and Liam Malynn cancelling out three Tubberclair points. The homeside registered their hattrick on the 29^th minute as a late Dunning score saw Caulry trail 3-4 to 0-9 at the break.

Tubberclair got off to a bright start again in the second half, tagging on 1-4 on the trot. A converted-free from Malynn after a foul on Stephen Brookes got Caulry off the mark again on the 44^th minute. Two Tubberclair points preceded Dunning’s next point of the game. Caulry searched desperately for much-needed goals but to no avail with Sean Murphy tagging on a point on the 56^th minute. Caulry’s goals then came too late in the game, merely taking the look of the final score of 4-12 to 2-12.
