Division 4 ACFL

Caulry 1-9

Tubberclair 1-13

Caulry travelled to Tubberclair on Sunday afternoon last for their first outing in this year’s Division 4 ACFL and went down to a good opposition on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-9.

Tubberclair were first off the mark with two quick points in the opening minutes. Caulry were slow to settle with Alan Daly tapping over their first point on the 8^th minute. Daly pointed again to level proceedings. The teams traded scores with Peter Smyth pointing for Caulry after a great pass from Gavin Byrne. Some good defending from Stephen Brookes and Conor Dolan allowed Alan Daly to add to the scoring tally. Tubberclair soon began to dominate proceedings and scored an unanswered 0-5 to leave Caulry trailing 0-9 to 0-4 at the interval.

Smyth narrowed proceedings early in the second half with a pointed-free. The game went point-for-point with Paddy Sleator scoring for Caulry. The all-important score of the game came on the 17^th minute as Tubberclair rattled the back of the Caulry net. Pat Buckley and Eoin Donohoe defended well while points from Daly and Smyth narrowed the deficit. A late goal from Smyth left just four points between the sides. However, Tubberclair defended well to leave the scoreboard reading 1-13 to 1-9.

Caulry 2-16

Kinnegad 2-6

Caulry travelled to Kinnegad on Sunday morning last where they picked up their second brace of points as they ran out comfortable winners over the homeside on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-6.

Caulry worked well in the first half and some good defending from Kevin O’Flaherty, Darren Hynds and Peter O’Kelly Lynch kept the scoreline down to 2-5 to 1-2 in our favour at the halftime break.

On the resumption, some great fielding from Colin Murphy and Sean Clinton allowed Caulry to add to the scoring tally. Some great combined teamwork from Jordan Dunning, Jack Bradbury Hughes and Sean Woods allowed Caulry to push on and build up a commanding lead. Lee Guinan, Charlie Parker and Neil Clinton had fine games in defence, while Aaron Fallon, Conor McCormack and Liam Malynn had impressive displays up front. The Caulry lads worked tirelessly throughout to leave ten points between the sides at the final whistle.

Division 1 Under 16 Leinster League Semi-Final

Caulry will contest Division 1 Under 16 Leinster League semi-final on this coming Saturday evening when St Mary’s Ardee Co Louth come to town. The 4pm throw in at our local Caulry pitch, will be the first ever meeting between these two clubs at any grade, and that in itself will make it a unique and historic occasion and shows the great value of competitions such as the Leinster League. We hope our lads can repeat the performances of the earlier rounds and that a good home support will turn out cheer them on.
