U16 League
Caulry 2-14
Millmore Gaels 0-6
Our U16s played Millmore Gaels in the park on Monday evening last in their latest league game.
Playing with the aid of the breeze, our lads started brightly and created a couple of early goal chances which were saved brilliantly by the Millmore keeper. However, our lads recouped the ball on each occasion and tapped over points with Alan Malynn (with two), Shane Lawless and Joey Berry on target. Millmore Gaels had a few attacks but our defence were at their best and kept them at bay. Caulry attacked brilliantly with Senan Baker making good runs from midfield to set up scores for Lawless, Malynn and Adam Dunning . Millmore Gaels then registered their first point of the evening but that score was wiped out with two brilliant points from half back Adam Doyle, one from each foot. Senan Baker then got in on the act to tap over from midfield. Millmore Gaels registered their second of the evening only for Caulry to add on two more points from the boots of Berry and Malynn to go into the half time break 0-12 points to 0-2 up.
Millmore Gaels started the second much brighter and started to push for scores but Sean Murphy and his full back line with Tom Cloonan at centre back were in a mean mood and they had to work very hard for their scores . Millmore Gales tapped over their third score which was counter-scored by Malynn. They then rallied and pegged on the next three before a brilliant left footer from Lawless. Millmore Gales came back and launched more attacks but were hit on the counter by some brilliant play from Cloonan and Murphy which ended up in the Millmore net from the boot of Malynn enabling Caulry to run out winners on a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-6 points.
Team & Scorers: Ruairi Casey, Alan Lynam, Sean Murphy, Oisin Shortall, Harry Stuart Trainor, Tom Cloonan, Adam Doyle (0-2), Senan Baker (0-1), Aaron Murray, Tadgh Baker, Alan Malynn (2-5), Paul Hogan, Adam Dunning (0-1), Shane Lawless (0-3), Joey Berry (0-2)

Minor League
Caulry 1-6
Garrycastle 0-4
Our minors kicked off their league campaign with a win on Wednesday evening last when they hosted neighbours Garrycastle in the park.
Garrycastle failed to make use of the strong breeze throughout the first half as a few scoring chances went out to the side and wide. Thomas Dunning opened the scoring tally with his effort on the 2nd minute. Luke Buckley then converted a free to double the deficit before our lads missed some scoring opportunities of their own. A threatening ball from Adam Donoghue failed to pay dividends as our next score came from the boot of Alan Malynn (a converted free). Our lads then got a lucky break which Malynn pounced upon and rattled the back of the Garrycastle net. Throughout the half, the Garrycastle boys struggled to get the ball up the field as a late free from Malynn saw Caulry lead 1-4 to 0-0 at the break.
Sean Murphy dealt well with an early threat from the opposition as a mistake in our defence set Garrycastle up for their opening score of the game. Buckley tore through the Garrycastle defence as his shot on goal was well blocked down. Quick fire points from Donoghue and James Carey stretched the margin between the sides. The opposition then drew one back with their effort on the 48th minute. Despite owning a lot of the second half possession, the opposition failed to make headway as a number of efforts went astray. Things were not much better at the other end of the field as our lads’ tally of wides mounted up. Garrycastle then kicked two points on the 52nd and 54th minutes as a late goal attempt from Carey was swept up by the opposition’s defence leaving five points between the sides at the full-time whistle on a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-4.
Team & Scorers: Sean Murphy, Ciaran Gaynor, Glen Carolan, Rory Mullins, Colm Shortall, Tom Cloonan, Luke Hamilton, James Carey (0-1), Thomas Dunning (0-1), Senan Baker, Luke Buckley (0-1, 1), Roan Sweeney, Adam Donoghue (0-1), Olan Healy, Alan Malynn (1-2, 2f)
Subs: Shane Lawless for Luke Buckley
Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 3-10
Moate 0-6
Our juniors had a good win over neighbours Moate on Friday evening last in their latest Division 4 ACFL game.
Liam Malynn opened the scoring tally with his converted-free early on. This was shortly followed by a well-taken goal from Anthony Allen after he was set up by Gary Flanagan. The next two points of the game came from the boot of Alan Daly after some fine teamwork from the men in red. Moate drew one back with a pointed-free on the 8th minute before the teams traded wides. A fine kickout from Declan Donohoe was well fielded by Stephen Connolly who set Daly up for this hattrick of points. Moate then registered their second point of the game, this from a fisted effort. Donohoe dealt well with threats from the Moate attack as a converted ‘45’ from Malynn left six between the teams. A pass from Allen found Flanagan who neatly placed the ball into the top left corner of the Moate net on the 22nd minute. The visitors then responded with another free as a number of late attacks from both sides went wide, leaving our lads in front 2-5 to 0-3 at the interval.
The teams exchanged early wides in the second half before Harry Hughes made a burst up the field, combining with Malynn who slotted the ball over the bar. The opposition tapped over another free as good work from Flanagan and Cialan Dollard set Connolly up for a point on the 40th minute. Donohoe brought off a number of great saves between the 41st and 46th minutes before Moate tapped over their fourth free of the game. Dollard then travelled the field and put his name on the scoresheet. The sides traded points with Allen adding one for Caulry. Substitutes Will Buckley and Sylvester Coughlan done well when introduced as their hard work enabled Neil Clinton to rattle the back of the Moate net. Brian Mullarney and Ernie Buckley defended well as Peter Smyth kicked the last score of the game sealing the win on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-6.
Team & Scorers: Declan Donohoe, Brian Mullarney, Sean Fox, Darren Hynds, Jack O’Kelly Lynch, Ernie Buckley, Loughlin Casey, Neil Clinton (1-0), Stephen Connolly (0-1), Alan Daly (0-3), Anthony Allen (1-1), Harry Hughes, Cialan Dollard (0-1), Gary Flanagan (1-0), Liam Malynn (0-3, 1f, 1 ‘45’)
