All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw

Our All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw was held on Friday night last in Egan’s Pub, Mount Temple in front of a good-sized crowd. The lucky winners on the night were as follows:

After the draw, the club chairman Ger O’Kelly Lynch expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the draw. He thanked all players and members for both selling and buying the tickets and also the committee who were involved in the organising of the draw. Ger also expressed gratitude to those who sponsored the prizes.

U12 Garrycastle Tournament

Our U12 boys picked up another good win in the Garrycastle Tournament as they played host to Erin Rovers for their fourth game of the competition.

Caulry started the game well with good play from Oisin Shortall and David Gaynor setting Tadgh Baker up for a fine point. Tiarnan O’Donovan and Cormac Murphy defended well as Andrew Stuart Trainor pointed to double the deficit. Erin Rovers worked hard and edged themselves in front with a well-taken goal on the 5^th minute. However, our boys responded well with two fine points from Stuart Trainor. The Erin Rovers goalie brought off a good save on the quarter-hour mark as points from Shortall stretched Caulry’s lead. Brendan Kelly McCormack rattled the back of the opposition’s net to put the homeside in the driving seat with late points from Baker, Stuart Trainor and Shortall giving Caulry a comfortable lead at the halftime whistle.

The second half followed in much the same vein with our boys playing well throughout. Ian Malone done well in goals as Aaron Murphy and Eoin Murphy impressed in defence helping Caulry keep their lead. Scores from O’Donovan, Conor Hynes and Dean Byrne allowed Caulry to push on. However, the Erin Rovers tried hard drawing three back with a well-taken goal late in the half. Ultimately, our boys had done enough and ran out worthy winners on the evening.

U14 Championship Shield Semi-Final

Caulry 6-10

Kilbeggan/Josephs 7-0

Our U14 lads made the journey to Streamstown on Saturday morning last for their shield semi-final clash against Kilbeggan/Josephs.

The opposition opened the scoring account with a well-taken goal. A point from Paul Hogan got Caulry off the mark on the 3^rd minute. However, the Kilbeggan/Joseph attack combined well, splitting our defence open and registering their second goal of the morning. Despite missing some scoring opportunities, our lads never gave in with Tadgh Baker raising Caulry’s first green flag on the 6^th minute. Senan Baker then pointed to leave the narrowest of margins between the sides. However, just as our lads began to find rhythm, the Kilbeggan/Josephs boys got their hattrick to leave them four points the good. Senan Baker impressed at midfield and tapped over his second point of the game on the 11^th minute. Our boys then drew level after a good pass from Oisin Shortall found Andrew Stuart Trainor who rattled the back of the opposition’s net. Two quick points from Alan Malynn after good work from Shane Lawless saw Caulry take the lead. However, this lead was shortly lived as Caulry were dealt another punch with Kilbeggan/Josephs’ fourth and fifth goals coming on the 21^st and 25^th minute respectively. Malynn pointed a free to keep Caulry in touching distance. Ruiari Casey brought off a vital save late in the half as the ball was brilliantly worked up the field and sent to the back of the opposition’s net by Adam Dunning to leave it tied at the break on a scoreline of 3-6 to 5-0.

A goal from Malynn inside the opening 60 seconds of the second half put our boys in the driving seat. Sean Murphy and Senan Baker combined well as Ruiari Casey brought off a vital intercept to keep Caulry’s lead intact. A good pass from Harry Stuart Trainor set Shane Lawless up for a fine point. Tom Cloonan and Adam Doyle defended well when put under pressure as a good pass from Paul Hogan enabled Shortall to add to the scoring tally. Hogan and Malynn combined well as Malynn scored his second goal of the morning to leave Caulry eight points in front. Tadgh Baker defended well in the half-back line as his brother Senan slotted over another fine point. The opposition dug deep, reducing the gap to just six points with another well-taken goal by the end of the third quarter. Alan Lynam worked hard as Malynn converted another free. Sean Murphy intercepted the ball well as he raced up the field and put his name on the scoresheet with a fine goal. Kilbeggan/Josephs missed a goal opportunity at the other end of the field as our defence held strong. Despite a late Kilbeggan/Josephs’ goal, Caulry ran out worthy winners and qualify for the shield final on a scoreline of 6-10 to 7-0.

U21 Championship Quarter-Final

Caulry 2-12

Miltownpass 1-6

On a wet and slippery Saturday evening last, our U21 side, consisting of three pairs of brothers (Clintons, Fox and Nally), overcame Miltownpass in the quarter-final stages of this year’s championship on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-6.

Miltownpass were first off the mark with a point from play on the 2^nd minute. Caulry replied in style with two converted-frees from Alan Daly and Cialan Dollard. Stephen Connolly doubled the deficit on the 13^th minute. Some good work from Colin Murphy enabled Paddy Sleator to add to the scoring tally. Murphy then put his name on the scoreboard with a fine point from play. Miltownpass replied with two quick scores to keep themselves in touch. Sean Clinton sent a good ball into the Caulry attack as Matthew Nally and Dollard combined well to register Caulry’s first goal of the evening. Sean Clinton kicked the next score of the game to leave Caulry six points the good. However, a determined Miltownpass side worked tirelessly, kicking an unanswered 1-1 to reduce the margins between the sides. A late point from Sleator left Caulry leading 1-6 to 1-4 at the interval.

On the resumption, Cillian Nagle denied Miltownpass a goal on the 33^rd minute to keep Caulry in front. Stephen Connolly fielded well as the teams traded points with Dollard tapping over another Caulry free. A pointed-free from Connolly saw Caulry lead by four by the end of the third quarter. Our defence done well when put under pressure with Eoin Fox having an impressive display as our lads missed some chances to push on. Emmet Nally raced up the field and found Murphy who slotted over his second score of the evening. Dollard and Murphy combined well as Murphy tapped over another fine point. Some good teamwork from Darren Hynds, Nally and Dollard resulted in Sleator sending the ball to the back of the Miltownpass net on the 53^rd minute. Miltownpass drew one back with a pointed-free. However, a late score from Clinton ensured Caulry saw off this challenge and advance to the semi-final stages with a final score of 2-12 to 1-6.
