Sympathies
It was with great sadness and regret that we learned of the passing of Brendan Clarke recently. Brendan was a dedicated GAA man and always held the organisation very close to his heart. We welcomed the Ferbane native into our club in 2010 as manager of our intermediate squad where he served a three-year period. Although the history books fail to note any title successes, during his period in charge Brendan’s tremendous effort led our club to an intermediate semi-final (2010), quarter-final (2011) and final (2012). Brendan will be remembered for his dedication and commitment to the managerial role and as a loyal Caulry supporter. The club extends its deepest sympathies to his family at this sad time.
The club also extends its deepest sympathies to the Clavin family, Mount Temple and Malone family, Moate on their recent sad losses.

All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw
Caulry are holding an All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw on Friday, August 30th in Egan’s Pub, Mount Temple. There are lots of prizes up for grabs on the night including four tickets for the All Ireland Football Final. Tickets are €5 each or €10 for a book of three and will be available over the coming weeks.
Intermediate Championship Fixture
Our lads' intermediate championship campaign continues this Tuesday in Athlone when they will battle it out against Tang for Round 2. This clash promises to be an enticing affair after both sides failed to pick up points in their opening encounters. Kick-off is at 8:15pm and all supporters are encouraged to get behind the lads.
Good luck to the team and management.
U16 Championship
Caulry 2-8
Moate 2-8
Our U16 boys made the short journey to Moate on Monday evening last for their latest championship fixture.
Moate were first to launch a series of attacks which we dealt well with by the Caulry defence. Alan Malynn then opening the scoring account as he converted a free on the 4th minute. Despite owning much of the possession, our lads failed to push on as a number of scoring opportunities were unsuccessful. Another Malynn free on the 11th minute seemed to settle us somewhat. Senan Baker then shot over our third point of the game before the homeside got motoring on the 15th minute. The teams traded wides as Moate then took the lead with a quick free enabling them to rattle the back of the Caulry net. Another Moate point put them two points in front. Tiarnan O’Donovan impressed in defence as the teams shared four points to leave the scoreboard reading 1-4 to 0-4 at the halftime whistle.
O’Donovan and Andrew Stuart Trainor made their presence felt as their contributions resulted in a penalty opportunity in which Malynn neatly slotted into the back of the Moate net. Malynn sent over another point from a placed ball to edge Caulry in front. However, this lead was short-lived as the homeside went on a quick scoring blitz which yielded an unanswered 1-3. A point from Shane Lawless on the 40th minute kept Caulry’s hopes alive before Oisin Shortall tore forward and found Paul Hogan who rattled the net, leaving just one point between the sides. The opposition responded well with a fine score from play. However, the final few minutes of the half proved vital as two Moate players were sent to the line and our boys began to capitalise on play with two pressure kicks from Baker and Malynn levelling the match just before the fulltime whistle.
Team & Scorers: Ruairi Casey, Tiarnan O’Donovan, Sean Murphy, Oisin Shortall, Harry Stuart Trainor, Alan Lynam, Adam Doyle, Senan Baker (0-2), Aaron Murray, James Buckley, Alan Malynn (1-5, 5f), Paul Hogan (1-0), Joey Berry, Shane Lawless (0-1), Josh Rhattigan
