Intermediate Championship Fixture
Our lads make the journey to Tubberclair on Sunday evening next for their fifth and final group-stage game of this year’s intermediate championship. Caulry will battle it out against neighbours Maryland in this decisive clash where a win could see our lads qualify for an all-important quarter-final spot. Our lads will be hoping to build on their impressive wins over Milltownpass and Milltown and continue their winning streak on the evening. Kick-off for this enticing affair is at 5:30pm and all supporters are asked to get behind the lads.
Good luck to the team & management.
U14 Championship
Caulry 3-21
The Downs 2-8
Our U14 boys had a good win over The Downs in the park on Thursday evening last.
The Caulry lads were unlucky to start as a shot on goal from Conor Hynes rattled back off the post as The Downs opened the scoring account with a converted-free. Hynes then made the most of his second attempt as he combined nicely with Andrew Stuart Trainor and slotted the ball over the bar. Points from Tadgh Baker and Brendan Kelly McCormack then put Caulry in front. However, this lead was short-lived as The Downs kicked 1-1 in quick succession to put their noses in front. Brendan Kelly McCormack kicked two points in response to The Downs’ one before a brace of scores from Baker, Max O’Sullivan and Cian Lawless edged Caulry in front once again. Despite the best efforts of the Caulry defence, the opposition worked the ball in for a goal on the 27th minute before late scores from Brendan and Conor Hynes left Caulry leading by one at the break.
Lawless and Baker combined well in the second half with Baker finishing the move and rattling the back of The Downs’ net. Further scores from Hynes, Stuart Trainor, Baker and O’Sullivan put our lads in the driving seat. The Downs drew two back at the end of the third quarter. However, the Caulry forwards impressed throughout the second half with points from Hynes, O’Sullivan and Cody Parker ensuring Caulry the win on a scoreline of 3-21 to 2-8.
Team & Scorers: Ian Malone, Sean Donnelly, Cian Heavin, Darragh Shortall, Cody Parker (0-1), David Gaynor, Eoin Murphy, Tadgh Baker (1-3), Andrew Stuart Trainor (1-4, 3f), Dean Byrne, Brendan Kelly McCormack (1-4), Aaron Hanevy, Cian Lawless (0-1), Conor Hynes (0-5), Max O’Sullivan (0-3, 2f)

IFC Round 4
Caulry 2-6
Milltown 0-7
Our lads notched up their second consecutive win in a rain-soaked Pairc Chiarain on Saturday evening last when they battled it out against Milltown for Round 4 of this year’s intermediate championship.
In difficult conditions, both sides initially struggled with some scoring attempts falling short of the targets before Milltown opened the scoring account with a short free-conversion on the 3rd minute. Emmet Nally’s palmed goal then launched our lads into the lead on the 6th minute after Harry Hughes done well to win the kickout. However, the Caulry lads didn’t make the most of their period of dominance with just two of five chances resulting in scores, one a routine free from Conor McCormack and the other from the boot of Hughes after a patient build-up of play. Cillian Nagle brought off a number of vital intercepts as the game continued on a tit for tat basis, with both sides ruing missed chances before Milltown kicked the next point of the game on the 21st minute. The opposition then won the next kickout and punished Caulry with a superb long-range score. The tally of wides from both sides grew by five between the 22nd and 26th minutes as two late pointed-frees for Milltown saw it level-pegging at the break on a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-5.
Our lads hit the ground running as McCormack combined nicely with Andy O’Sullivan and pointed soon after the restart. Milltown then level the game with another free on the 34th minute. The Caulry defence worked tirelessly as a McCormack free edged our noses in front. The teams struggled to grasp the difficult conditions as some sloppy played ensued and the sides struggled to rack up scores. Another free from McCormack put two between the sides on the 47th minute as Trojan work from Damien Dolan, Eoin Fox and Neil Clinton helped to keep the opposition scoreless. Nagle again brought off some vital intercepts throughout the second half as the Caulry defence held strong, with Kevin Maguire and Sean Clinton driving out on numerous occasions. O’Sullivan showed great vision on the 58th minute as he combined with Maguire and riffled the back of the Milltown net. The opposition responded well as they tore forward and pointed before Stephen Connolly then kicked the last score of the game, sealing the win on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-7.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Eoin Shortall, Eoin Fox, Sean Clinton, Loughlin Casey, Kevin Maguire, Harry Hughes (0-1), Stephen Connolly (0-1), Neil Clinton, Emmet Nally (1-0), Conor McCormack (0-4, 3f), Colin Murphy, Adam Donoghue, Paddy Sleator, Andy O’Sullivan (1-0)
