Sympathies
It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our club president Jack Allen recently. Jack was a talented man both on and off the field and will be sadly missed, not only by our club but the surrounding community. Jack was a passionate Caulry supporter and wore the red and white jersey with pride for over twenty years, representing our club at adult level from 1961 to 1988. Jack will be remembered fondly for his contributions to our intermediate winning team in 1969. Himself alongside his brother Pat formed part of this Caulry's team defence and together they put every oppositional attack to the test. His club honours also include playing full forward on the 1985 Junior B winning team and winning the league in 1969. We extend our deepest sympathies to Jack's family at this time. The club also extends its sympathies to the Malone family, Knocdomney on the sad loss of Kate's brother. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 4-10
Milltown 1-16
Our lads hit the ground running when they opened their Division 2 league account with a win over Milltown in the park on a wet and misty Saturday afternoon last.
Caulry missed early chances before the visitors opened the scoring account from play on the 3rd minute. Milltown then doubled their lead from a free minutes later. But all was level by the 8th minute courtesy of a pointed-free from Conor McCormack and well taken point from play from Emmet Nally. The opposition nosed in front once again with another point from play. However, the tide turned in our favour when Tiarnán O’Donovan struck lucky for a goal on the 12th minute as he rounded both keeper and defender to find the net. McCormack followed this up with his first from play to widen the gap to three. Milltown narrowed the deficit between the 14th and 20th minute as they outscored Caulry 0-4 to 0-1. A point from Stephen Connolly got our lads back on track. The resulting kickout went astray for the men in white and green as this set Luke Buckley up nicely as he rattled off our second goal of the game. The visitors weren’t going to lie down however, as they added 0-3 to Caulry’s 0-1 to trail by two at the break.
In a similar vein to the first half, some chances went wayward for Caulry before Milltown re-opened the scoring account. The sides then shared 0-4, with Buckley and Nally on target for us. The opposition hit a purple patch nearing the end of the third quarter as they added an unanswered 1-3 to overturn the scoreline in their favour. A point from Thomas Dunning steadied the ship somewhat on the 51st minute, but the Milltown men soon had their four-point lead reinstated as they worked the ball up the field and finished with a point from play. With pressure mounting, our lads dug deep and Oisín Shortall ignited a bit of hope on the 56th minute when he snook the ball into the back of the Milltown net. Seconds later Alan Malynn done similar to put Caulry back in front. Sean Fox capped off the scoring late into injury time to ensure our lads escaped with the win.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Olan Healy, Tom Cloonan, Damien Dolan, Harry Stuart Trainor, Sean Clinton, Sean Doyle, Stephen Connolly (0-1), Alan Malynn (1-0), Conor McCormack (0-2, 1f), Alan Daly, Luke Buckley (1-2, 1f), Emmet Nally (0-2), Tiarnán O’Donovan (1-1)
Subs: Sean Murphy for Alan Daly, Thomas Dunning (0-1) for Sean Doyle, Sean Fox (0-1) for Stephen Connolly, Oisín Shortall (1-0) for Tiarnán O’Donovan, Neil Clinton for Harry Stuart Trainor

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 0-8
Shandonagh 0-14
Our Division 4 ACFL team started off their league campaign with a defeat to Shandonagh in the park on Sunday morning last. A minute’s silence was observed prior to throw-in for the late Jimmy Fallon, Moyvoughley and Helen Shortall, Carn Park.
Playing with the breeze in their favour during the first half, it was Shandonagh who came by scores quicker than Caulry as they added a trio of points within the opening six minutes. Our first point of the game came from the boot of Sean Murphy, but this was closely followed by another Shandonagh score. Cillian Nagle was put under pressure throughout the half as he brought off good blocks when needed. The sides shared four points before the half-time whistle. Glen Carolan added a score from play before Alan Malynn converted a ‘45’ to leave our lads trailing 0-7 to 0-4.
The opposition were once again first to get going in the second half with a converted-free. Alan Fitzpatrick drew this back on the 36th minute with his effort. This tit-for-tat pattern continue for much of the second half with each score being levelled at the other end of the field. Between the 37th and 49th minutes, the sides shared 0-4, with Malynn and Alan Lynam on target for Caulry. Adam Donoghue shot for a goal late in the game but to no avail as Caulry settled for a point courtesy of John Maguire. Two late Shandonagh scores saw them take the win with six points to spare.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Dylan Lowry, Johnny Buckley, Darren Hynds, Sean Murphy (0-1), Sean Doyle, Glen Carolan (0-1), John Maguire (0-1), Neil Clinton, Alan Daly, Shane Lawless, Oisín Shortall, Alan Malynn (0-3, 1f, 1 ‘45’), Alan Fitzpatrick (0-1), Liam Malynn

Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 4-6
Mullingar Shamrocks 2-5
Our Division 2 lads made it two wins from two when they hosted Mullingar Shamrocks in the park on Sunday morning last.
A few chances for the visitors fell astray before Alan Malynn opened the scoring account with a goal after three minutes. Emmet Nally followed this up with his effort, which was knocked out for a ‘45’ and Jack Connaughton dutifully converted. Mullingar Shamrocks got off the mark on the 14th minute with a converted penalty to leave the narrowest of margins between the sides. A pointed-free moments later had the sides all square. However, Caulry weren’t long about turning the scoreline in our favour once again on the 21st minute when Nally rattled the back of the net after a catch at midfield from Colin Murphy. Malynn fired over a point before the same man got our hattrick after Oisín Shortall found him with a pass, having pounced on a wayward Mullingar kickout. The sides traded a duo of points with Sean Clinton on target for Caulry. Just in the nick of time before the interval, Mullingar Shamrocks got lucky after a high ball in landed into the back of the Caulry net to leave the scoreboard reading 3-4 to 2-2 at the break.
Our lads got off to a flying start in the second half when Thomas Dunning’s free-kick ended up in the back of the Mullingar net early in. The opposition drew two back with their efforts on the 33rd and 35th minutes. Scores were slower to come by throughout this half as the next score of the game was a fisted effort from Dunning on the 41st minute. The last quarter of the game saw just two points, one for either side as our lads had done enough to secure the win.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton (0-1, 1 ‘45’), Dylan Lowry, Johnny Buckley, Sean Clinton (0-2), Neil Clinton, Damien Dolan, Olan Healy, Colin Murphy, Stephen Connolly, Sean Murphy, Emmet Nally (1-0), Sean Doyle, Oisín Shortall, Alan Malynn (2-2), Thomas Dunning (1-1)

The Downs 1-11
Our Division 4 ACFL team suffered another defeat when they hosted The Downs in the park on Saturday afternoon last.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Adam Mullins, Johnny Buckley, Luke Hamilton (0-1), Oisín Shortall, Darren Hynds, Glenn Carolan (0-1), Neil Clinton, Sean Murphy, Alan Daly, Andy O’Sullivan, Alan Lynam, Adam Donoghue (0-1), Paul Hogan, Liam Malynn (0-3, 3f), Colin Murphy (1-0)
Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 0-7
Ballymore 0-5
Our Division 2 ACFL team escaped with a win when they travelled to Ballymore on Sunday morning last.
The homeside opened the scoring account when their full-forward tapped over a straight-forward free. Jack Connaughton shortly got our lads motoring when he converted a ‘45’. This score was quickly followed by a point from Emmet Nally after Stephen Connolly fielded the opposition’s kickout. Conor McCormack then put Caulry three points the good when he sent over a super long-range point. A duo of converted-frees for Ballymore had the homeside back on level ground as the final ten minutes of play approached. Similar to the open ten minutes of the half, our lads took control. Malynn kicked the next score of the game, having rounded off a fine move from McCormack. Nally then added another fine score from play before Luke Buckley converted a free. A late score from McCormack saw our lads lead 0-7 to 0-3 at the break.
A lacklustre second half was in store for spectators as just two scores were registered, both of which for Ballymore in the closing minutes of the half. The two sides were wasteful upfront, Ballymore more so than Caulry as they owned most of the play. Nally had a great chance to fire home a goal at one stage in the half, having rounded the keeper and done everything right bar find the back of the net. Ballymore injected a bit of excitement into the game when they pointed on the 50th minute, giving us a dangerous three-point lead heading into the closing stages. Despite not adding to our scoring tally in the half, Caulry can be accredited for the determination and will to win, particularly in terms of defence. Damien Dolan, Sean Fox and Tom Cloonan all brought off vital intercepts throughout the game to keep the opposition to just two second half scores. The last of these was on the 60th minute in the form of a free. But as they say ‘a win is a win’ and our lads will be happy to upkeep their winning streak despite the less than spectacular performance.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton (0-1, 1 ‘45’), Olan Healy, Tom Cloonan, Sean Clinton, Sean Fox, Damien Dolan, Neil Clinton, Colin Murphy, Stephen Connolly, Shane Lawless, Conor McCormack (0-2), Emmet Nally (0-2), Thomas Dunning, Alan Malynn (0-1), Luke Buckley (0-1, 1f)

Minor League
Caulry 3-12
Shandonagh 0-6
Our minors got off to winning ways when they hosted Shandonagh on Friday evening last for their opening Division 2 League game.
Our boys hit the ground running and were three points the better of Shandonagh before the opposition got going. Aaron Murphy added the first two scores prior to Lee Corcoran pointing on the 7th minute following a fine intercept from Cormac Murphy in defence. The visitors got off the mark on the 11th minute with a pointed-free. They then added their second, but Caulry were soon back in control of proceedings thanks to a goal courtesy of Simon O’Grady. Shandonagh added their third pointed-free, but our lads finished the half strong with further scores from Daniel Lynam, Dean Martin and Hugo McGowan to lead by seven at the break.
The second half was similar to the first in that our lads dominated throughout. The sides shared four points in the resuming eight minutes of play. Murphy was on fire and could do no wrong as he rattled off 2-2 between the 44th and 53rd minutes. Shandonagh drew one back on the 55th minute, but ultimately our lads were the better side as the scoreline finished 3-12 to 0-6.
Team & Scorers: Max O’Sullivan, Luke Nolan, Cormac Murphy, Sean Donnelly, Daniel Lynam (0-1), Rory Hatton, Cody Parker, Dean Martin (0-2), David Gaynor, Kyle Rainey, Lee Corcoran (0-1), Aaron Hanevy (0-1), Simon O’Grady (1-0), Aaron Murphy (2-4, 1f), Cian Malone
Subs: Hugo McGowan (0-3), Kyle Nulty
Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 1-9
Garrycastle 0-12
Our lads escaped with a draw on a sunny but blustery Saturday afternoon last in the park when they played host to neighbours Garrycastle for Round 4 of the Division 2 ACFL.
Caulry were unlucky in the opening minutes of the game when a quick-flowing move was almost finished to the net by Alan Malynn, but on this occasion, he had to settle for the opening point instead. In a similar vein, Garrycastle missed their opening chance before adding a point on the 6th minute. The visitors then pounced on our kickout and added another to momentarily take the lead. Playing with a strong breeze ever so slightly favouring Caulry in this half, Stephen Connolly sent over a fine long-range point to level the sides once again. Damien Dolan then edged our noses in front on the 12th minute with his point. True to fashion though, the sides were tied one again on the 14th minute after a needless foul set Garrycastle up for a pointed-free. The men in green and red went ahead on the 16th minute when they overturned our attack and raced down the field for a score. Our lads hit a purple patch during the closing ten minutes of the half. Luke Buckley converted two frees to kickstart this revolution. Sean Clinton then added a point before Malynn added the goal (this coming after Thomas Dunning capitalised on a poor Garrycastle kickout). Colin Murphy then finished the first half scoring tally with a point to see our lads lead 1-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Despite having the upper hand heading into the second half, our lads struggled to push on as Garrycastle registered a trio of points inside as many minutes. Alan Lynam and Malynn combined to set the latter up for our first point of the half on the 34th minute. However, this proved to be no good as the opposition took control of the game and dominated possession all over the field. Lucky from a Caulry point of view, the Garrycastle forwards left much to be desired as they managed to convert just three of their six chance and drew level on the 51st minute. It looked as though our luck was out minutes later after a Buckley shot rattled off the post and set Garrycastle up for a point to level the game again with just minutes left on the clock. Their centre-forward impressed throughout as he showed guile and experience on the 57th minute when he fisted a point to see his side take the lead. With hope dwindling, our lads were given a chance to level the game when Connolly was fouled, and Malynn made no mistake in splitting the posts from outside the ‘45’. Garrycastle were given one last lifeline in a similar form at the other end of the field, but much to the relief of Caulry spectators, this free-kick went wayward as the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils on this occasion.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Olan Healy, Tom Cloonan, Darren Hynds, Eoghan Grennan, Damien Dolan (0-1), Glen Carolan, Colin Murphy (0-1), Stephen Connolly (0-1), Alan Lynam, Sean Clinton (0-1), Neil Clinton, Luke Buckley (0-2, 2f), Alan Malynn (1-3, 1f), Thomas Dunning
Subs: Alan Daly for Eoghan Grennan, Oisín Shortall for Alan Lynam, Dylan Lowry for Thomas Dunning
Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 4-19
Rosemount 0-9
Our Division 4 ACFL team picked up their first win of this year’s campaign when they made the journey to Rosemount on Sunday morning last.
The sides traded scores in the opening two minutes of the game with ours coming from the boot of Adam Donoghue. Our lads then raced into the lead with a trio of points from Liam Malynn, Oisín Shortall and Glen Carolan. Rosemount drew one of these back on the 9th minute, but our lads were on fire, and after an onslaught of scores including three goals from Olan Healy, Malynn and Luke Buckley the scoreboard read 3-7 to 0-2. The opposition momentarily broke our stride on the 19th minute when they added a pointed-free. However, our tails were up as Donoghue, Carolan and Malynn all added scores to give our lads an impressive 4-10 to 0-3 lead at the interval.
Rosemount were first out of the traps in the second have with a duo of points. Sean Murphy restarted our scoring tally on the 36th minute. The sides shared four points before the end of this quarter with Donoghue and Andy O’Sullivan on target for Caulry. The remainder of the game saw our lads outscore the homeside 0-5 to 0-2 as Caulry ran out comprehensive winners.
Team & Scorers: Conor Hynes, Dylan Lowry, Johnny Buckley, Luke Hamilton, Adam Mullins, Darren Hynds, Glen Carolan (0-2), Sean Murphy (0-4), Alan Lynam, Shane Lawless, Oisín Shortall (0-2), Olan Healy (1-1), Adam Donoghue (1-3), Liam Malynn (1-5, 3f), Luke Buckley (1-1)

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 1-11
Athlone 2-7
Our Division 4 ACFL team picked up their second consecutive win when they narrowly overcame Athlone in the park on a wet and windy Thursday evening last.
Athlone were first to launch an attack but this paid no dividends as it rattled back off the post. It set our lads up for the opening point of the game when Alan Malynn rounded off a burst forward from Oisín Shortall. Athlone then matched this score at the other end of the field. The sides were on level par throughout this opening third of the game and by the 18th minute, the scoreboard read 0-3 to 0-3 (our points coming from Malynn and Sean Murphy). At this stage in the game, our lads came alight. Goal chances from Murphy and Adam Donoghue seemed to get Caulry going despite not being on target as two points from the Malynn brothers edged Caulry in front. Colin Murphy then gave us a five-point cushion heading into the break after he found the back of the Athlone net on the 28th minute.
The opposition came out with a fire in their belly in the second half as they accounted for the first two points. Liam Malynn added one for Caulry, but the men in blue and white done similar at their end of the field to narrow the gap to three. On the 35th minute, the opposition scuppered a goal chance, but they done better seven minute later at the second time of asking when they fired home the equalising goal and making it game-on heading into the final quarter. Alan Malynn somewhat broke the opposition’s stride when he fired over a superb point. But true to form, the visitors raced down the field and levelled once again. Murphy kicked the next point of the game to edge our noses in front. But the scoreline was shortly overturned in Athlone’s favour when they converted a penalty with just nine minutes remaining. Liam Malynn kept his cool on the 55th minute as he converted a free to make it a one-point game. The Caulry lads dug deep and Shortall found space to kick the equalising score just as full time elapsed. The referee gave the sides one remaining chance, and credit to the hardworking Caulry defence, an Athlone attack broke down enabling our lads to build an attack via Sean O’Neill who split the posts to let Caulry escape with the win on the evening.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Luke Hamilton, Darren Hynds, Olan Healy, Oisín Shortall (0-1), Neil Clinton, Glen Carolan, Colin Murphy (1-0), John Maguire, Alan Lynam, Sean Murphy (0-2), Alan Daly, Adam Donoghue, Liam Malynn (0-3, 1f), Alan Malynn (0-4)
Subs: Luke Buckley for Adam Donoghue, Brendan McCormack for Alan Lynam, Sean O’Neill (0-1) for Glen Carolan, Mark Fitzpatrick for Glen Carolan
Minor League
Caulry vs. Athlone
Caulry 2-15
Athlone 4-9
Caulry and Athlone served up an entertaining hour of football when the sides met for this Division 2 minor league fixture in Pairc Chiaráin on Friday evening last.
The homeside burst out of the tracks and rattled in a goal just 25 seconds after throw-in. Rory Hatton then kicked our first point of the game. However, our lads were left with an uphill battle after a duo of points and converted penalty gave Athlone a seven-point cushion just five minutes into the game. A superb catch from Dean Martin at midfield enable Hatton to register his second point on the 6th minute. But this was closely followed by a duo of Athlone points at the other end of the field. The sides then traded a point each with Aaron Murphy on target for Caulry. Our lads played patches of fine football throughout, two such examples resulted in our next two points of the game. The first from Cody Parker who found space amongst the Athlone defence and fired over a point before Simon O’Grady done similar having availed of the mark. Hatton was unlucky on the 16th minute when his goal shot was sent out for a ‘45’. This placed-ball fell short and what should have been a Caulry goal resulted in a three-pointer for the boys in blue and white as they raced down the field and registered their hattrick. Our lads made a slight comeback with Murphy the main catalyst. First, he added two points (one from a free after Martin was fouled and the second thanks to good fielding from David Gaynor). Then, he combined with Gaynor before finding the back of the Athlone net on the 22nd minute. Athlone kicked the remaining two scores of the half to lead 3-7 to 1-8 at the interval.
Scores were slower to come by in the resuming minutes of the second half with the teams trading converted-frees early on. A trio of points from Kyle Rainey, Parker and Hatton had the deficit reduced to two by the 48th minute. Athlone kicked their second score of the half at this point in the game leaving three points the margin once again. A foul was committed up front and Murphy stood up to take it. Being about 20 yards out and with just two on the Athlone line, Murphy seized the opportunity and shot low and left to level the game much to the surprise of all around. Caulry edged in front momentarily when Parker added a point after Hatton read the Athlone kickout well. However, the opposition weren’t going to lie down as they fired in a dangerous ball which dropped into the back of the Caulry net, meaning our lads had it all to do with just eight minutes left. Hatton and Daniel Lynam combined outfield to set Dean Burns up for a point to leave the narrowest of margins between the sides. Both teams were hungry for a result as evidenced in the closing stages of the half when our lads had several goal chances well blocked down by the hardworking Athlone defence. Hatton eventually found the uprights, kicking the equalising point just in the nick of time meaning the teams had to settle for a share of the spoils on this occasion.
Team & Scorers: John Paul, Darragh Shortall, Cormac Murphy, Luke Nolan, Daniel Lynam, Rory Hatton (0-4, 1f), Cody Parker (0-3) Dean Martin, David Gaynor, Kyle Rainey (0-1), Lee Corcoran (0-1), Aaron Hanevy, Simon O’Grady (0-1, 1m), Aaron Murphy (2-4, 2f), Cian Malone
Subs: Dean Burns (0-1) for Cian Malone, Sean Donnelly for Luke Nolan, Kyle Byrne for Aaron Hanevy
Caulry vs. Miltownpass
Caulry 3-8
Miltownpass 3-7
Our minors hosted Miltownpass in the park on Sunday morning last for their third round of the league.
Caulry hit the ground running and raced into a six-point lead; Lee Corcoran got Caulry going when he chipped the keeper to register the first goal of the game before he added the first point of game on the 4th minute. Further points from Aaron Murphy and Dean Martin then preceded the opposition’s first score which came from a free. Cody Parker cancelled this out at the other end of the field. However, Miltownpass drew the deficit back to two with their 21st minute goal. Parker added his second before the teams traded goals with Corcoran on target for Caulry after combining well with Kyle Rainey. Late points courtesy of Corcoran saw Caulry lead 2-7 to 2-2 at halftime.
Miltownpass took over the in the second half, playing with the strong breeze now in their favour. They pointed one minute after the resumption of play. Cian Malone fired in a goal on the 35th minute to widen the gap to seven, which in hindsight proved to be a vital score as Caulry wouldn’t register another until fulltime. As our forwards now struggled against the breeze, the Miltownpass boys used it to their advantage as they tagged on four unanswered points. The equalising score then came on the 55th minute when the opposition punished our errors and rattled the back of the Caulry net for a third time. In fairness to the Caulry lads, they showed good spirit and fought hard for a score in the closing stages of the game; it eventually coming in the form of a free from Rory Hatton. Miltownpass were given one more chance to attack but it paid no dividends as Caulry escaped with the win.
Team & Scorers: Brian Doyle, Darragh Shortall, Cormac Murphy, Sean Donnelly, Daniel Lynam, Dean Martin (0-1), Cody Parker (0-2), David Gaynor, Lee Corcoran (2-3), Kyle Rainey, Dean Burns, Aaron Hanevy, Simon O’Grady, Aaron Murphy (0-1), Luke Nolan

Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 2-9
Tubberclair 0-10
Our Division 2 ACFL team picked up another win when they made the journey to Tubberclair on a blustery Saturday evening last.
Our lads had two points notched up before the homeside opened their scoring account on the 8th minute from a free. Caulry’s scores came courtesy of Sean Clinton in the opening minute of the game and Aaron Roarke after a Tubberclair kickout trailed out over the sideline. A pair of converted-frees from Alan Malynn sandwiched another Roarke point to give our lads a four-point lead. Tubberclair’s second score of the game and last score of the half followed on the 18th minute when their no.12 split the posts. However, our lads saw the half out well, adding 1-2 before the break; Emmet Nally kicked two fine points before Roarke pulled on a long ball in from Tiarnán O’Donovan to give Caulry an eight-point advantage at the interval.
The homeside started the second half with good intention and rattled over a trio of points to pull back the deficit somewhat. Roarke then put Caulry on the second half scoresheet with his effort of the 36th minute, but the opposition followed suit up their end of the field, adding two more points. The next three scores of the game came from converted-free with just one of these in our favour courtesy of Jack Connaughton. Tubberclair kept chipping away at the deficit and by the 59th minute, just two points separated the sides. Our lads then got lucky after an advance forward resulted in a goal; both John Maguire and Roarke had chances blocked down before the ball rebounded into the back of the Tubberclair net to ensure our lads the win.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton (0-1, 1f), Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Sean Clinton (0-1), Olan Healy, Colin Murphy, Sean Fox, Stephen Connolly, Tadgh Baker, Harry Stuart Trainor, Aaron Roarke (2-3), Neil Clinton, Tiarnán O’Donovan, Emmet Nally (0-2), Alan Malynn (0-2, 2f)

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 2-9
Coralstown/Kinnegad 0-11
Our Division 4 ACFL team came away with a win when they made the journey to Kinnegad on Thursday evening last.
Liam Malynn opened the scoring account from a free after he was fouled in a scoring position. The homeside followed suit with a duo of points. Olan Healy then fisted over the next point of the game on the 6th minute. The homeside then took charge, accounting for the next four points as our tally of wides began to grow. Johnny Buckley intercepted a Coralstown/Kinnegad attack, and the ball was worked up the line and finished by Malynn over the bar. Two further converted-frees from Malynn saw Caulry trail 0-7 to 0-5 at the break.
Coralstown/Kinnegad was first off the mark in the second half to extend their lead to three. Darren Browne then brought the game back to a level par when he drew on a loose ball and found the back of the Coralstown/Kinnegad net. Malynn added a free before Browne struck lucky again on the 35th minute to launch Caulry into a four-point lead. This early tirade proved to be vital as although the opposition reduced the deficit, they were unable to level or go in front for the remainder of the game. Coralstown/Kinnegad’s 39th minute point was struck out by Malynn at the other end of the field. The homeside then kicked another on the 49th minute, but once again, this was followed by a Caulry point, this time from Ben Kenny. The sides shared another two points before the full-time whistle as our lads ran out winners with four points to spare.
Team & Scorers: Mark Fitzpatrick, Dylan Lowry, Johnny Buckley, Sean O’Neill, Oisín Shortall, Darren Hynds, Olan Healy (0-1), Colin Murphy, John Maguire, Brendan McCormack, Sean Murphy, Alan Malynn, Luke Buckley, Darren Browne (2-0), Liam Malynn (0-7, 4f)
Subs: Ben Kenny (0-1) for Alan Malynn, Alan Fitzpatrick for Luke Buckley
Minor League
Caulry 1-11
Esker Gaels 0-5
Our minors picked up another win in their Round 4 league campaign when they hosted Esker Gaels in the park on Friday evening last.
Caulry set out with intention when Kyle Rainey fired in a goal just seventeen seconds after the throw-in. Aaron Murphy then followed this up with a point after David Gaynor won the following kickout. This fast pace of scoring then halted as the next score of the game didn’t come until the 20th minute. During this first-third, however, both sides missed chances with the two teams’ combined tally totalling 0-8. Cormac Murphy then got the ball rolling with his effort. Aaron Murphy added his second before Rory Hatton got his name on the scoresheet. A breakdown in the Esker Gaels’ attack enabled Cormac to add another. Dean Burns then kicked a fine point on the 24th minute. Esker Gaels opened their scoring account shorty after with a point from play, but a late point from Rainey saw the scoreboard read 1-7 to 0-1 at the break.
Caulry raced out of the tracks again in the second half with points from Burns and Murphy. The opposition accounted for the next two scores of the game, one from a free and one from play. The sides shared four points in the later stages of the half but ultimately our lads eased over the line.
Team & Scroers: Max O’Sullivan, Darragh Shortall, Cormac Murphy (0-2), Eoin McCormack, Daniel Lynam, Dean Martin, Cody Parker, Rory Hatton (0-1), David Gaynor, Dean Burns (0-3), Aaron Murphy (0-3), Aaron Hanevy, Kyle Rainey (1-1), Simon O’Grady, Cian Malone
Subs: Luke Nolan for Eoin McCormack, Kyle Nulty for Aaron Hanevy, Tristan Dolan for Daniel Lynam, Aaron Buckley (0-1) for Cian Malone
Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 2-16
Rosemount 3-9
Our Division 2 ACFL team continued on their winning ways when they overcame Rosemount in the park on a sunny Saturday evening last for this Round 6 fixture.
Caulry burst out of the tracks with an early onslaught of score which yielded 1-4. Sean Clinton registered the first score of the game, rounding off a pass from Damien Dolan. Emmet Nally then rattled the back of the Rosemount net when he got a vital touch. Nally then added a point before Conor McCormack converted the first placed-ball of the game. Our fourth point came from the boot of Senan Baker after Nally pounced on a wayward Rosemount kickout. The opposition’s first score of the game came from a converted-free on the 15th minute. However, Caulry responded in style with a quick 1-1. Nally was the man responsible for the point and McCormack fired home the goal after a vital intercept from Dolan outfield. To credit the men in black and amber, they didn’t lie down and with in a matter of minutes, they added their own goal and point to pull back the deficit by the 20th minute. There was a slight lull in play then as both sides registered a couple of wides. McCormack’s long-range effort on the 27th minute seemed to inspire Caulry for the remaining minutes of the half. Our lads played passages a fine supportive football which resulted in scores from Dolan and Neil Clinton to leave Caulry in front 2-8 to 1-2 at the interval.
The teams shared 0-4 in the early stages of the second half. Aaron Roarke and Nally were on target for us as both Rosemount’s points came from frees. The oppositions had a fire in their bellies as they were on the hunt for a goal. They had three such chances between the 37th and 39th minutes; the first of these was well blocked down by Jack Connaughton, the second rattled off the crossbar and over for a point, and the third coming after they pounced on a short Caulry kickout and was finished to the net by their no. 12. A free from McCormack steadied the Caulry ship on the 41st minute. Two points from Roarke then reinstated our eight-point lead heading into the final quarter. Rosemount reduced this gap back to six with two points from their no. 8. Baker then kicked the next point of the game after combined work from McCormack and Oisín Shortall. The game continued on a tit-for-tat basis with points from Baker and McCormack being cancelled out at the other end of the field. Rosemount had the final say when they registered their second goal deep into injury time, but this wasn’t enough as our lads ran out winners with four points to spare.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Sean Clinton (0-1), Damien Dolan (0-1), Eoghan Grennan, Neil Clinton (0-1), Colin Murphy, Stephen Connolly, Olan Healy, Aaron Roarke (0-3), Tiarnán O’Donovan, Conor McCormack (1-4, 2f), Emmet Nally (0-3), Senan Baker (0-3)

Sympathies
It was with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of one of our club trustees Tom Seery recently. Tom was a lifelong supporter of our club and county, travelling near and far to show his support. Its often you’d hear Tom before you see him, but on the sideline for every game he’d be found cheering on the Caulry team. Tom’s love for our club could be accredited to his father, as he recounted in our club history book travelling on the bar of his father’s bike to Sunday games in the early 1950s. Tom’s first outing as a senior player was in a 1963 league semi-final when he was introduced as a substitute. This was just the being for Tom as he went on to be an integral part of our successful 1969 intermediate winning team. Tom will be fondly remembered for wearing the no. 6 jersey on his back as he put every oppositional forward line to the test throughout this championship. Tom’s last appearance for a Caulry first team was in a 1980 semi-final defeat, but he had more to give as he went on to win a Junior B championship in 1985 with our second team. After his playing career, Tom’s involvement continued as he served in various committees, including being club treasurer in the late 1970s and early 1980s, as well as being a staunch, dedicated Caulry supporter. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Seery family, Ballysallagh, Mount Temple at this time.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 3-13
St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge 3-13
Our Division 4 ACFL team grappled back from a seven-point deficit to secure a draw when they hosted St. Mary’s of Rochfortbridge on Tuesday evening last.
The visitors opened the scoring account with a couple of points within the first two minutes. However, Caulry turned the scoreline on its head minutes later; Liam Malynn first pocketed a goal having booted in the ball from the 45m line and Oisín Shortall finished with a point on the 4th minute after Shane Lawless laid off the ball. St. Mary’s soon knocked the wind out of our sails as they worked the ball straight down the field and finished with a goal of their own. A point then on the 14th minute reinstated the opposition’s lead. Lawless found Colin Murphy with a pass, setting him up for the next point of the game. Malynn and Sean Murphy both added scores before the opposition levelled proceedings once again on the 20th minute. Caulry let their guard slip momentarily then as St. Mary’s pounced on the following kickout and fired home a goal. They then backed this up with another unanswered 1-1 to lead by seven heading into the last five minute of play. Scores from Colin Murphy and Darren Hynds were cancelled out at the other end of the field prior to the halftime whistle, leaving Caulry with all the work to do in the second half.
The sides shared four points in the early stages of this half with Malynn and Alan Fitzpatrick on target for Caulry. Our lads then began to take charge of proceedings, launching a tirade of scores which yielded 1-3. Olan Healy’s fisted effort on the 37th minute seemed to get Caulry going. John Maguire then added a point before Mark Fitzpatrick chipped the keeper and reduce the gap to just one as the final quarter elapsed. Healy then struck lucky again with the equalising point. St. Mary’s dented our progress with their point on the 46th minute, but Caulry’s confidence was up; Colin Murphy claimed the following kickout and found Malynn with a pass who made no mistake in finding the back of the St. Mary’s net once again. The opposition kicked two vital frees on the 50th and 57th minutes to marginally lead in the dying stages of the game. But credit to the Caulry lads, they dug out scores with Sean Murphy and Alan Lynam overturning the scoreline once again. The referee gave St. Mary’s one more chance to attack, and that they did with their efforts resulting in a foul and a last-ditch chance to secure a draw; they’re free-taker dutifully converted as both sides were satisfied with the draw after an evenly matched contest.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Luke Hamilton, Johnny Buckley, Sean O’Neill, Oisín Shortall (0-1), Darren Hynds (0-1), Olan Healy (0-1), Colin Murphy (0-2), John Maguire (0-1), Shane Lawless, Alan Fitzpatrick (0-1), Sean Murphy (0-2), Adam Mullins, Mark Fitzpatrick (1-0), Liam Malynn (2-3, 1f)
Subs: Alan Lynam (0-1) for Adam Mullins
Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 0-9
Castledaly 0-9
A similar fate was in store for our Division 2 ACFL lads when they made the journey to Castledaly on Sunday morning last for this Round 7 fixture.
Our lads owned most of the possession in the opening stages of the game; Tiarnán O’Donovan opened the scoring account within the first 60 seconds before Alan Malynn converted a ‘45’ on the 6th minute to give Caulry an early lead. Castledaly’s first score of the game came from a free on the 8th minute. They followed this score up with a well-taken long-range point from their no. 8 to level the game. Our lads edged in front once again after a catch from Stephen Connolly at midfield set Ben Moran up for a point. Both sides were wasteful up front with the next score of the game not coming until the 24th minute; this from a converted-free by Malynn. Castledaly kept in touching distance as they immediately followed with a point of their own. Malynn was enabled to add another, this time from play thanks to Harry Stuart Trainor winning a kickout. But in similar fashion, Castledaly replied with a point of their own to leave the scoreboard reading 0-5 to 0-4 to Caulry at the break.
The second half mirrored the first half in that nine scores were converted, with Castledaly benefitting marginally. Despite Connolly adding a fine point for Caulry inside the resuming minute of the second half, our lads failed to push on. Rather, Castledaly responded with two points of their own, both courtesy of their no. 13. The next score of the game came from the boot of Connolly when he converted a free on the 40th minute. This lacklustre tempo continued right up until the final few minutes of the game. A trio of Castledaly points between the 52nd and 55th minutes injected a bit of excitement in the game as Caulry found themselves behind for the first time in the game. Our lads struggled to take scores against the packed yellow and green defence with just two chances being converted; both from frees courtesy of Jack Connaughton and Liam Malynn. Both sides had very lat chances to see if one team could prevail but ultimately nothing separated the sides as the scoreline read 0-9 apiece at fulltime.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton (0-1, 1f), Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Sean O’Neill, Damien Dolan, Eoghan Grennan, Harry Stuart Trainor, Stephen Connolly (0-2, 1f), Sean Clinton, Sean Murphy, Colin Murphy, Tiarnán O’Donovan (0-1), Alan Malynn (0-3, 2f), Ben Moran (0-1), John Maguire

Minor League
Caulry 0-19
Coralstown/Kinnegad 1-8
Our minors eased over Coralstown/Kinnegad when they hosted them in the park on Bank Holiday Sunday last.
Coralstown/Kinnegad started the game well with three points in quick succession. Despite this promising start, the visitors failed to push on as Cormac Murphy opened our scoring account on the 6th minute after running the full length of the field from full back. Our lads then got a trio of points in quick succession between the 11th and 12th minutes with Lee Corcoran, Kyle Rainey and Rory Hatton on target to put our lads in the lead. Caulry continued to outscore the opposition 0-6 to 0-1 as they dominated the half. Coralstown/Kinnegad’s singular score came just before the interval from a free to leave the scoreboard reading 0-11 to 0-4.
The teams traded points in the early stages of the second half with Hugo McGowan adding two for Caulry. Our lads had notched up another three points before the opposition’s next score of the game. This came on the 47th minute in the form of a goal to inject a bit of excitement. Coralstown/Kinnegad then followed this up with two points to reduce the gap to four. However, this was as good as it got for the visitors as further points from Dean Burns, Corcoran, Dean Martin and Tyler Mason saw our lads take the win.

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 3-12
Garrycastle 1-15
Our Division 4 ACFL team stumbled over the line when they travelled to Garrycastle on Tuesday evening last for their latest league fixture.
Caulry got off to a good started with a couple of points from Alan Lynam and Liam Malynn. The homeside soon had it all square by the 6th minute with their opening points of the game. Malynn proved to be instrumental throughout as the next three points came from him; first, he tapped over a straightforward free, then added another from play and finished with another free after Darren Browne was fouled. During this period, Cillian Nagle brought off a good save to deny the opposition. Their next score of the game came on the 16th minute to leave just two between the sides. Sean Murphy won the following kickout and he combined nicely with Oisín Shortall who tore up the field and finished with a goal. The sides shared four points before the halftime whistle to leave five points between the teams at the interval.
The tables turned somewhat in the second half with Garrycastle accounting for most of the scores. A free from Malynn momentarily stretched our lead to six on the 33rd minute, but this was sliced in half minutes later when the homeside fired home a goal. Our lads responded well with points from Malynn and Alan Daly. The gap was widened to seven on the 41st minute when Browne rattled the back of the net thanks to good work outfield from Lynam and Will Buckley. To credit Garrycastle, they kept their composure as they replied with four points in quick succession to narrow the gap (one of which should have been a goal). A converted-free from Malynn was cancelled out in similar fashion at the other end of the field to leave a gap of just three points between the sides heading into the last ten minutes of play. At this point in the game, Caulry could do no right and they let the lead slip as Garrycastle, now playing nice direct football, reaped the rewards and went marginally ahead with four unanswered points. Now with our backs against the wall, super sub Luke Buckley made his presence felt when he drew on a cross-field ball and hit the back of the Garrycastle net. A point then in the same minute from the same man saw Caulry’s lead stretch to three. The homeside had one more chance to attack, but only gleaned a pointed-free from this opportunity as our lads escaped with the narrow win.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Luke Hamilton, Johnny Buckley, Sean O’Neill, Olan Healy, Colin Murphy (0-1), Oisín Shortall (1-0), Sean Murphy (0-1) , John Maguire, Brendan McCormack, Alan Lynam (0-1), Alan Daly (0-1), Darren Browne (1-0), Mark Fitzpatrick, Liam Malynn (0-7, 5f)
Subs: Luke Buckley (1-1), for Mark Fitzpatrick, Will Buckley for Brendan McCormack, Alan Fitzpatrick for Colin Murphy
Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 1-12
St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge 2-13
Our Division 2 ACFL team came up short against St. Mary’s when they hosted the Rochfortbridge side in the park on a sunny Saturday evening last.
Our lads started the half well with Stephen Connolly opening the scoring account before Alan Malynn made himself an angle to put us two points the good. St. Mary’s registered their first score of the game on the 5th minute. However, a duo of pointed-frees from Conor McCormack stretched our lead once again. St. Mary’s, despite being wasteful up front in the first half, always kept in touching distance as they added another two points, one from play and one from a free. Further points from McCormack and Oisín Shortall were cancelled out at the other end of the field. The visitors then hit a purple patch in the last five minutes of the half; a couple of points put them marginally in front before a goal on the 30th minute gave the Rochfortbridge men a four-point advantage. Luke Buckley converted a late free to see the scoreboard reading 1-7 to 0-7 at the break.
The opposition raced out of the tracks with a goal in the early stages of the second half to leave our lads with an uphill battle. A Rochfortbridge point preceded a fine point from Colin Murphy on the 35th minute. Connolly then pounced on the resulting kickout, and he found Malynn with a pass; Malynn made no mistake in rounding a defender before pocketing a goal and suddenly it was game on as just three points separated the sides. McCormack booted over the next score of the game (this a fine, lone-range effort). Olan Healy combined nicely with Malynn as he finished with another point to leave the narrowest of margins between the sides. St. Mary’s then broke our stride on the 43rd minute when their no. 11 finished with a point. A converted-free minutes later had the gap widened once again to three. The sides shared four points in the last few minutes of the game as St. Mary’s dug deep to hang onto their dangerous lead. They tapped over a late point to win a on scoreline of 2-13 to 1-12.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Sean O’Neill, Olan Healy, Ben Moran, Sean Clinton, Stephen Connolly (0-1), Sean Murphy, Alan Lynam, Conor McCormack (0-4, 3f), Oisín Shortall (0-1), Luke Buckley (0-3, 2f), Colin Murphy (0-1), Alan Malynn (1-2)

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 1-10
St. Loman’s 1-12
Our juniors came up short again St. Loman’s when they made the journey to Lakepoint Park on Tuesday evening last for their latest Division 4 ACFL fixture.
Our lads started the game well with a trio of unanswered points; Alan Malynn opened the scoring account inside forty seconds before his brother Liam added Caulry’s second point of the game. Thomas Dunning then put his name on the scoresheet. St. Loman’s, having already racked up three wides, put to right some of their wrongs on the 7th minute when they hit the back of the Caulry net to level the game. Our lads responded in style, however, as Dunning added his second point before combining with Colin Murphy and pocketing himself a goal on the 13th minute. A trio of points from Alan Malynn gave our lads a six-point cushion by the 21st minute. The Mullingar men kicked their first point of the game then, and this seemed to get them back into the game as a quick-fire blast of points saw the homeside trail by just one at the interval.
It was all-square in the early stages of the second half after a converted-free for the men in blue and white. Murphy momentarily nosed our lads in front then with his effort from play. But St. Loman’s followed suit with a similar score at the other end of the field to level the game once again. This tit-for-tat pattern continued right throughout the second half with either side only ever getting one-point the better of the other. St. Loman’s managed to stretch this lead to two in the very late stages of the half to escape with the win with two points to spare.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Sean O’Neill, Johnny Buckley, Dylan Lowry, Harry Stuart Trainor, Olan Healy, Oisín Shortall, Sean Murphy, John Maguire, Alan Lynam, Colin Murphy (0-4), Alan Daly, Liam Malynn (0-1), Thomas Dunning (1-2), Alan Malynn (0-3)
Subs: Harry Hughes for Alan Daly, Darren Browne for Liam Malynn, Darren Hynds for Sean Murphy, Adam Donoghue for Thomas Dunning
Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 3-15
St. Malachy’s 1-12
Our seniors secured themselves Division 1 ACFL status for next year when they overcame St. Malachy’s in their last round robin game of this year’s campaign on Friday evening last in Castletown/Geoghegan.
The teams were evenly matched in the opening five minutes of the game as they shared four points; Conor McCormack’s opening score after 25 seconds was subsequently cancelled out at the other end of the field before Emmet Nally’s point on the 4th minute was levelled by St. Malachy’s. The homeside then momentarily went in front with a converted-free on the 7th minute. However, our lads were soon back in the lead after a long ball in from McCormack landed into the back of the Castletown net, much to the surprise of the spectators and even the kicker himself. Converted-frees from both sides kept the scoreboard ticking over. St. Malachy’s were wasteful up front as their tally of wides steadily increased. Alan Malynn put three points between the sides on the quarter-hour mark, and three minutes later, this lead was doubled when Nally helped the ball into the back of the St. Malachy’s net after combining nicely with Thomas Dunning. Olan Healy was instrumental out field as he set McCormack and Malynn up for the next two points of the game. St. Malachy’s tapped over frees either side of a point from Nally to leave the scoreboard reading 2-8 t 0-6 at the break.
Our lads made an early burst out of the tracks in the second half which yielded an unanswered 1-2; a converted-penalty from Nally was sandwiched between points from Malynn and Nally to widen the gap to thirteen. St. Malachy’s best period of football came between the 37th and 44th minutes; two quick-fire points gave them a head-start before their full forward riffled the back of the Caulry net. Another converted-free from their no. 9 then reduced the gap to seven. However, this was as good as it got for the men in black and red as trio of scores, two Malynn frees and a point courtesy of McCormack, got Caulry back motoring. The teams shared a further four points in the remaining minutes of the half but ultimately, our lads ran out comfortable winners. This victory sees our lads secure promotion to the premier division for next year and secures them a place in this year’s league final which is set to be played on the last weekend in June. Well done to the lads and their management team of Pat Flanagan, Kevin Connaughton and Joe Quinn.

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 0-15
Milltownpass 1-12
Our juniors finished up their Division 4 ACFL campaign with a draw away to Milltownpass on Thursday evening last.
Mark Fitzpatrick got a score straight from the throw-in to get the ball rolling. Milltownpass followed suit up their end of the field then. Another chance for the homeside went wide before a trio of Caulry points put a gap between the sides; Liam Malynn, Aaron Roarke and John Maguire all taking their scores well. Milltownpass registered another wide before getting back on track with their 8th minute point. Our lads then missed some chances of their own as the next score of the game came once again in the form of a Milltownpass point on the 14th minute. Caulry then had a goal chance, but Roarke’s shot rattled off the crossbar and set the opposition up for an attack, which ultimately went wide. John Maguire finished off a nice move having combined with Fitzpatrick for a point on the 20th minute. Milltownpass cancelled this one out then with a converted-free. However, our lads saw the half out with two further points; one from Sean Doyle after his shot deflected off the crossbar and over, and the second from the boot of Liam Malynn leaving three points between the sides at the break.
In similar fashion to the first half, our lads got a score straight from the throw-in; this time Shane Lawless was the scorer after 24 seconds. Milltownpass reduced the deficit back to three from a mark on the 33rd minute. Caulry played patches of good football and such an example came at this period in the game which saw our lads outscore Milltownpass 0-4 to 0-1; the Malynn brothers and Lawless accounted for Caulry’s scores whilst the opposition’s singular point came from a free to give our lads a six-point advantage heading into the last quarter. However, the men in black and white weren’t going to lie down as a quick-fire tirade had the teams all square by the 52nd minute; this comeback being initiated by a well taken goal. Rory Mullins showed good composure when introduced as he fisted over a point to somewhat settle the ship, but at this stage in the game, the homeside had their tails up as a trio of points stretched their lead to two. Our lads seemed to come back to life in the last few minutes of the game, helped by two points from Liam Malynn to level the game once again. The referee gave both teams a chance to see if a rightful winner could be found but the following passage of play proved null and void as neither side could get in front and had to settle for a share of the spoils. This result sees our lads finish fourth in the league table, securing their Division 4 ACFL status for 2025. Well done lads.

Division 2 ACFL Final
Caulry 2-10
Garrycastle 3-11
Our seniors were defeated by neighbours Garrycastle when the sides clashed last Sunday evening in the Division 2 ACFL final.
The game had an entertaining start with both sides sharing two points inside the opening 60 seconds; Aaron Roarke opened the scoring account on the 20th second before Garrycastle levelled up their end of the field. The opposition then registered their second point of the game after pouncing on a poor Caulry kickout, but a fine point from Emmet Nally had the sides on par once again by the 3rd minute. Garrycastle momentarily stretched their lead to two then with a point from play and one from a free. But this was short-lived after Nally fired home a penalty on the 9th minute. The game continued on a tit-for-tat basis as sides overturned this one-point advantage was overturned in the opposition’s favour then courtesy of two points. A converted-free from Senan Baker made it level pegging once again on the 23rd minute. Stephen Connolly won the following kickout as he set Sean Clinton up for a score seconds later. Our lads had a number of chances late in the half, but only managed to convert one of these with Connolly on target leaving the scoreboard reading 1-5 to 0-6 at the break.
Garrycastle were first off the mark in the second half, but points from Alan Malynn and Conor McCormack soon had Caulry three points the good. However, things took a turn for the worst then from our point of view as a series of unfortunate events saw the men in green and red launch into a lead, having added an unanswered 3-2 between the 34th and 50th minutes. During this period as the opposition capitalised on our mistakes, every advance for Caulry fell everywhere but on target. A point from Kevin Maguire on the 52nd minute broke the Garrycastle stride. The sides shared a point each then before Alan Malynn fired home a goal on the 56th minute thanks to good work from Connolly and Harry Stuart Trainor. This score left just four points between the sides but it wasn’t to be our day as a series of chances fell astray. Connolly temporarily brought the gap back to three but Garrycastle finished with a point to run out worthy winners.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Sean Fox, Tom Cloonan, Damien Dolan, Tadgh Baker, Eoghan Grennan, Kevin Maguire (0-1), Stephen Connolly (0-2, 1m), Colin Murphy (0-1), Sean Clinton (0-1), Aaron Roarke (0-1), Senan Baker (0-1), Emmet Nally (1-1), Alan Malynn (1-1), Conor McCormack (0-1)

All roads lead to TEG Cusack Park on Saturday evening next to see our senior team take to the field for their first game of this year’s championship. The opposition on the evening will be provided by Tyrrellspass. The sides last met in last year’s competition in Round 2 which saw our lads prevail on a score line of 1-15 to 1-12. This game kicks off at 5:15pm and should be an entertaining battle as both sides will be hoping to get their campaigns off to a winning start. Our juniors also start their championship campaign on the preceding Friday evening when they host Killucan in the park at 7:30pm. All support is greatly appreciated.
Minor Championship Round 1
Caulry 1-11
The Downs 1-11
Caulry and The Downs served up an entertaining hour of football when the sides clashed in the park on Thursday evening last for the first round of the minor championship.
It was our lads who started the game best and were 0-4 to 0-1 up by the 12th minute; The Downs opened the scoring account before Simon O’Grady added our first point on the 3rd minute. Lee Corcoran then put Caulry in front when he converted a ‘45’ which resulted from Aaron Murphy’s goal effort being sent out wide. Murphy then put his name on the scoresheet with a converted-free before Corcoran added his second and Caulry’s fourth. The Downs always kept in touching distance, however, with a duo of points bringing the gap back to one. Murphy accounted for the next score of the game, again from a placed ball. The opposition put pressure on the Caulry defence throughout, and one such effort nearly ended up in the goal but our netminder John Paul done well to stop this shot. What could have been a goal for The Downs, ended up a Caulry point after the ball was worked nicely up the field via Kyle Byrne. The opposition brought the gap back to two then with a converted-free. Caulry were wasteful up front in the later stages of the half only adding one point to leave the scoreboard reading 0-7 to 0-4 at halftime.
The opposition were like greyhounds out of the tracks in the resuming minutes of the second half, but thankfully from a Caulry point of view their accuracy up front left much to be desired as they only converted 0-2 from what could have been 2-2. The Caulry lads seemed to be asleep for much of the third quarter with David Gaynor registering our only point on the 42nd minute. Another point for The Downs saw just one point separating the sides as the final quarter approached. Points from Corcoran and Aaron Hanevy momentarily stretched the lead back to three, but The Downs were on a mission as they worked the ball down the field and fired home a goal. This seemed to be the spark that reignited Caulry’s fire as our lads responded in style with Corcoran rattling the back of the opposition’s net within the same minute to reinstate our three-point. The visitors had another goal chance from the following kickout, but on this occasion, they had to settle for a point. The Downs boys were hungry for the win and two further well-taken points saw it level pegging with just two minutes left on the clock. Caulry, again will rue our missed chances with one effort falling wide, and another falling short. This second chance gave the opposition a chance to attack once again which resulted in a free which was dutifully tapped over to nose The Downs in front. Caulry had to dig deep and with pressure mounting, a foul was committed on Kyle Rainey, giving our free taker a chance to level the game; Murphy showed good composure on this occasion as it tapped the ball over the bar as the referee signalled for fulltime and the sides settled for a share of the spoils.

SFC Round 2 Fixture
Our seniors make the short journey to Hogan Park, Moate on Sunday evening next for their Round 2 clash of this year’s SFC. Our lads will have to battle it out against near neighbours Athlone at 7:30pm. Both sides failed to pick up points in their opening round so inevitably, they will be on the hunt for a win. All eyes will be on the action to see who can come out on top on the evening. All supporters are asked to get behind the lads and we wish them and their management team the very best of luck.
U20 Championship Round 1
Caulry 0-4
Moate 2-12
Our U20s suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Moate on Tuesday evening last in their opening round of the championship.
Despite having a rocky start and kicking some wides, it didn’t take the homeside long to settle into proceedings as they notched up 0-5 before Caulry ever got motoring. Our first score of the game and only score of the half came on the 22nd minute from the boot of Aaron Murphy after a patient build up. Moate responded well with another point of their own. The Moate team worked together as a unit, clogging up their defence and holding our lads scoreless for much of the game. A nice long-range effort from the Moate full forward brought an end to the lacklustre first half and gave the homeside a six-point cushion at the break.
Caulry got off to a better start in the second half with Oisín Shortall opening the scoring account from a free. The sides were evenly matched during this third period as they went on to share 0-4 with our two points coming from frees from Murphy and Shortall. However, Caulry failed to ever really threaten the scoreline whilst a 45th minute goal for the men in white and black saw them stretch their lead further. The homeside finished out the half with a further 1-3 to claim a deserved win.
Team & Scorers: Conor Hynes, Rory Hatton, Cormac Murphy, Eoin McCormack, Brendan McCormack, Tadgh Baker, David Gaynor, Alan Lynam, Harry Stuart Trainor, Brian Doyle, Tiarnán O’Donovan, Lee Corcoran, Paul Hogan, Aaron Murphy (0-2, 1f), Oisín Shortall (0-2, 2f)
Subs: Kyle Rainey for Paul Hogan, Dean Martin for Brendan McCormack, Cody Parker for Lee Corcoran, Dara Shortall for Rory Hatton
SFC Round 1
Caulry 1-11
Tyrrellspass 2-12
Our seniors made the journey to Cusack Park on Saturday evening last for their opening championship clash against Tyrrellspass.
Our lads got off to an unstable start and conceded 1-2 to 0-1 within the opening 5 minutes; Senan Baker opened the scoring account before the opposition won the kickout and set themselves up for a goal. Their pair of points then followed in the form of converted-frees. Alan Malynn settled the Caulry ship with his duo of scores on the 6th and 8th minutes (one from a mark and one from play). A wide for Tyrrellspass then followed before Emmet Nally narrowed the gap to one having combined nicely with John Maguire. It was all level by the 12th minute when Conor McCormack tapped over a free (again Maguire was the man involved in setting up this course of play). The opposition accounted for the next score which came on the 18th minute from their corner-forward after their initial free-kick rebounded off the upright. Our lads always kept in touching distance, and it was all-square three minutes later when Stephen Connolly booted over a point. Our lads then took the lead for the first time in the game when Connolly sent a ball into Baker; in a nice, flowing move, Baker laid the ball off to Sean Clinton who split the posts. A free from McCormack momentarily stretched the Caulry lead to two, but the one-point advantage was soon reinstated in similar fashion at the other end of the field. Although there were some late chances for both sides, this transpired to be the last score of the half leaving Caulry with a two-point lead as the sides retreated to the dressing rooms.
Caulry made a positive start to the second half with a point from Malynn after a patient build-up. However, Tyrrellspass began to take charge at this point in the game, owning much of the possession and accounting for the next four scores to overturn the scoreline and give themselves a two-point advantage by the 42nd minute. A goal from Damien Dolan kept our hopes alive when he drove forward and fired home a goal on the 43rd minute to put Caulry in front once again by the narrowest of margins. Our lads had a smattering of chances to stretch this lead in the following minutes, but only one such effort was successful; efforts from Tiarnán O’Donovan and Malynn were well blocked down before Baker eventually tapped over a free. Tyrrellspass kept cool despite the building pressure and worked the ball down the field for a point. The turning point came then on the 56th minute when the men in blue and navy won the Caulry kickout and raced down the field for their second goal of the game. The opposition followed this up with a couple of points, stretching the deficit to four. Malynn kicked the next score of the match, having to settle for a point as the Tyrrellspass goalmouth was packed with defenders. The opposition then accounted for the last score of the game from a free on the 62nd minute to assure their victory.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Damien Dolan (1-0), Sean Fox, Sean Clinton (0-1), Olan Healy, Stephen Connolly (0-1), Tadgh Baker, Emmet Nally (0-1), Conor McCormack (0-2, 2f), Colin Murphy, Senan Baker (0-2), Alan Malynn (0-4, 1m), John Maguire

Sympathies
It was with great sorrow and regret that we learned of the untimely passing of Caulry stalwart Ger Muldoon recently. Ger was a very proud Caulry man and leaves behind him a legacy much to be desired. Ger started out playing football with our club at underage level and his adult playing career lasted over thirteen years, debuting in 1970. When he finished playing, Ger was always more than happy to help off the field as served on various committees. He will be remembered for his work and contributions as chairman of our club in which he served in for an impressive 9 years from 1995 to 2003. Ger continued to be a loyal Caulry supporter throughout his life, following our team all around the county, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the Muldoon family, Carn Park at this time.

U16 Championship Round 1
Caulry 2-9
Athlone 1-6
Our U16s made the short journey to Athlone on Monday evening last for their first game of this year’s championship.
The homeside were first off the mark with a point from their midfielder on the 4th minute. Hugo McGowan then levelled the game when he tapped over a free after John Paul was fouled. Caulry then took the lead with points from Gavin McSharry and Darragh Belton (both Paul and Rhys Mason playing important roles in these set-ups). Athlone drew one back on the 13th minute, but it was Caulry who found the posts easier with points from McGowan, Mason and McSharry giving Caulry a three-point lead at the break.
The opposition got off to a glorious start in the second half was they walked the ball into the back of the Caulry net within the resuming 20 seconds of play. The sides then shared 0-4 with McGowan adding both Caulry points. The turning point came on the 43rd minute when Mason fired home a goal after a patch of good, combined teamwork to reinstate our three-point lead. Paul then added a point, but this was equalised at the other end of the field. Athlone’s deficit was doubled on the 52nd minute when Aaron Buckley struck lucky. A lull then fell on play as the game had to be abandoned on the 54th minute due to an injury in our camp. We wish Fionn a speedy recovery, alongside the Athlone player who picked up an injury earlier in the game.
Team & Scorers: Sam Hatton, Tom Madden, Gavin Quilty, Fionn Murphy, Kevin O’Brien, John McDermott, Tristan Dolan, John Paul (0-1), Rhys Mason (1-1), Hugo McGowan (0-4, 1f), Gavin McSharry (0-2), Luke Berry, Darragh Belton (0-1), Aaron Buckley (1-0), Darragh Martin
Subs: Conor Padden, Cathal Casey, Evan Allen, Simeon O’Flaherty, Senan Hatton
Minor Championship Round 2
Caulry 0-8
Tubberclair 5-18
Our minors suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Tubberclair when the sides met in Round 2 of this year’s championship on Thursday last.
The homeside were first to open the scoring account with a point on the 1st minute. Aaron Murphy levelled down our end of the field with a free. The same man put Caulry in front then with another pointed-free. However, Tubberclair weren’t long about settling into proceedings as they added an unanswered four points before the end of this quarter. Murphy accounted for the next two Caulry scores, again both from frees with fouls on Kyle Rainey who worked tirelessly throughout the game. But the homeside were at a different pace as they worked the following kickout for a goal, and then followed this up with another fine point. Dean Martin registered our first score from play on the 20th minute when he settled for a point after Simon O’Grady’s goal was well blocked down. Tubberclair proceeded to outscore Caulry 1-1 to 0-1 then before the halftime whistle, giving our lads a mountainous task for the second half.
Now with the breeze on their backs, Tubberclair rattled off points left, right and centre, stretching the already daunting deficit. Lee Corcoran and Luke Nolan drew two of the opposition’s scores back in the second half but there was always only ever going to be one result as Tubberclair ran out comfortable winners.
Team & Scorers: John Paul, Dara Shortall, Cormac Murphy, Kyle Byrne, Daniel Lynam, Dean Martin (0-1), Eoin McCormack, David Gaynor, Brian Doyle, Cody Parker, Aaron Murphy (0-5, 5f), Dean Burns, Simon O’Grady, Lee Corcoran (0-1, 1f), Kyle Rainey
Subs: Aaron Hanevy for Daniel Lynam, Cian Malone for Dean Burns, Sean Donnelly for Dara Shortall, Luke Nolan for Simon O’Grady, Conor Devaney for Kyle Rainey
SFC Round 2
Caulry 0-9
Athlone 0-12
Our seniors suffered their second defeat in as many rounds when they made the short journey to play Athlone in Moate on Sunday evening last.
Despite going in with the lead at the break, Athlone left much to be desired in terms of scoring throughout the half; one such example opening the game on the 1st minute when their centre-forward’s effort went wide. The opposition then kicked the first score of the match from a converted ‘45’. A quadruple of wides followed (one of these from the boot of a Caulry player, Senan Baker) before Athlone’s no. 13 split the posts on the 8th minute. Again, the men in blue and white wasted chances. Tadgh Baker then opened Caulry’s account on the 11th minute, but this was closely followed by a duo of Athlone points. Scores were slow to come by in the second quarter as both sides missed chances. The opposition’s midfield worked tirelessly and utilised Caulry’s kickout to their advantage on the 26th minute adding another couple of points. Damien Dolan’s late effort punctuated the half as Athlone retreated to the dressing rooms with a four-point advantage at the interval.
Our lads made a good start to the second half accounting for the first two scores; Senan Baker rounded off a patient move on the 32nd minute before Malynn tapped over a routine free to slice the deficit in two. Athlone’s first attack came on the 34th minute, but this effort proved futile as a fisted-goal was over ruled. They had to waited until the 37th minute for their opening score of the half, this a well taken point from play. Caulry hit a slight purple patch between the 40th and 47th minutes with four unanswered points; Malynn kickstarted the revolution having won the kickout and finished with a fine point. Scores from Baker and Malynn then preceded a point from Stephen Connolly to give our lads the lead for the first time in the game. However, we failed to push on from this point and Athlone kept cool under the mounting pressure. They secured the equaliser on the 49th minute before picking their scores well on the 55th, 57th and 59th minutes to reinstate their lead. Emmet Nally’s score on the 60th minute brought the game back to a one-score contest and kept the dwindling Caulry dreams alive, but ultimately, Athlone were able to hold strong and ran out winners with three points to spare.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Damien Dolan (0-1), Harry Stuart Trainor, Sean Clinton, Tadgh Baker (0-1), Stephen Connolly (0-1), Senan Baker (0-2), Eoghan Grennan, Sean Doyle, Olan Healy, Conor McCormack, Alan Malynn (0-3, 1f), John Maguire

SFC Round 3
Our seniors will be on the hunt for a win when they take to the field next Friday evening for their third round of the senior championship. Our lads will be up against the reigning county champions St. Loman’s and are in need for a win in order to get off the mark and out of the dreaded drop-zone. The game takes place in Cusack Park at 7:15pm and all supporters are asked to get behind the lads. We wish the lads and their management team the very best of luck.
Junior B Championship Round 1
Caulry 4-10
Tubberclair 6-6
Our juniors fell at the final hurdle when they contested their opening round of this year’s Junior B Championship in the park on Tuesday evening last.
Tubberclair made a glorious start to the game, notching up 2-0 to Caulry’s 0-2 inside the opening five minutes; our scores coming from Colin Murphy and Oisín Shortall. Liam Malynn’s goal on the 6th minute made a good dent in the deficit and his brother Alan had things all square four minutes later when he tapped over a ‘45’. Tubberclair momentarily went ahead again then, but Murphy popped over the equaliser after a patch of good, combined teamwork. A brace of good fluid movement saw Olan Healy riffle the back of the opposition’s net on the 17th minute. Alan Lynam’s point then put four points between the sides. A point for Tubberclair kept the scoreboard ticking over before Mark Fitzpatrick got the final touch to Harry Stuart Trainor’s surge forward to register our third goal of the game. The visitors saw out the half with a trio of points to bring the deficit back to three at the break.
Scores were fruitful in the resuming minutes of the second half with the sides sharing 2-2; Liam Malynn accounted for both Caulry scores. John Maguire fielded the ball well on the 38th minute and he combined with Murphy who stretched the lead to four. However, Tubberclair were handed a lifeline in the form of a penalty which was dutifully converted on the 41st minute to leave the minimum between the sides. To credit Caulry, our lads responded well and accounted for the next three points of the game; two from Malynn and one from Luke Buckley. However, the men in green and yellow were hot on Caulry’s heels and fired home their fifth three-pointer on the 59th minute to narrow the gap to one once again. Tubberclair had the Caulry backs against the walls and fired in a high ball in front of our goal-line which some how or another ended up in the back of the net to edge them in front. Caulry had a couple of late attacks, but none of these were fruitful as Tubberclair were happy to escape with the win on the evening.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Alan Lynam (0-1), Johnny Buckley, Sean O’Neill, Olan Healy (1-0), Sean Murphy, Oisín Shortall (0-1), John Maguire, Colin Murphy (0-3), Harry Stuart Trainor, Shane Lawless, Alan Daly, Alan Malynn (0-1, 1 ‘45’), Mark Fitzpatrick (1-0), Liam Malynn (2-3, 1f)

U16 Championship Round 2
Caulry 2-5
Maryland/Tang 4-13
It was a game of two halves when our U16s met Maryland/Tang in the park on Monday evening last for their second game in this year’s championship.
Caulry hit the ground running with Aaron Buckley opening the scoring account after 42 seconds. The visitors’ first attack came in the form of a dangerous high ball in which rattled off the butt of the post before being tapped over the bar. Our boys missed a trio of chances then, but all wrongs were rectified on the 9th minute when Darragh Martin fired home a goal. Buckley then stretched our lead with a superb long-range point having combined nicely with Marcus Grant. The boys in maroon and blue always kept in touching distance and by the end of this first quarter things were tied at 1-2 apiece. Robert Casey brought off a fine save, but the next two points of the game came from the Maryland/Tang side to nose them in front. Throughout this opening half, the sides were evenly matched as Caulry enjoyed a period of dominance between the 25th and 27th minutes; this period yielded an unanswered 1-2 to overturn the scoreline once again. Maryland/Tang had the last say on proceedings with a pointed-free on the 29th minute to narrowly trail at the deficit on a scoreline of 2-4 to 1-6.
Things took a turn for the worst from a Caulry perspective in the second half as our boys only contributed one score to the scoreline. This can be partially attributed to the injuries of Darragh Martin and Hugo McGowan which caused a significant stoppage in play and saw the two boys retreat to the sideline most of the remainder of the game. Maryland/Tang were clinical up front and added a range of points and a duo of goals. To credit the Caulry boys, they never gave up with John McDermott and Gavin McSharry giving very good accounts of themselves in defence. Ultimately, the opposition ran out comfortable winners as a point from Buckley on the 64th minute brought an end to the play. We wish Darragh and Hugo speedy recoveries.
Team & Scorers: Robert Casey, Tom Madden, John McDermott, Sam Hatton, Tristan Dolan, Gavin McSharry, Kevin O’Brien, John Paul, Rhys Mason, Matthew Allen, Hugo McGowan, Luke Berry (0-1), Marcus Grant, Aaron Buckley (1-4, 1f), Darragh Martin (1-0)
Subs: Ewan Kelly, Darragh Belton, Evan Allen
U20 Championship Round 2
Caulry 0-16
Mullingar Shamrocks 2-8
Caulry and Mullingar Shamrocks served up an entertaining hour of football when the sides met in Round 2 of the U20 Championship on Tuesday evening last.
The homeside made a glorious start to the half and lead 1-2 to 0-1 by the 10th minute; the opening score of the game was a Mullingar Shamrocks goal before Brian Doyle drew one back with his effort. The men in green and white then added two points to stretch their lead to four. A converted-free from Lee Corcoran preceded points from Brian Doyle and Cody Parker which brought Caulry right back into contention. During this period of the game, the Caulry lads played exemplary football as the next two scores came from the boot of Tiarnán O’Donovan to leave it level pegging by the 24th minute. Caulry moved the ball well with all positions playing their part; one such example was a flowing move via Tadgh Baker and O’Donovan which was popped over the bar by Corcoran. Dylan McCormack added the last score of the half thanks to good fielding from David Gaynor to leave Caulry leading by two at the break.
Our lads made a good start to the second half accounting for the first three points; Aaron Murphy kicked scores either side of Parker adding his second of the game. Shamrocks momentarily broke our stride on the 40th minute with their point from play. However, Baker showed guile when he tore forward and fisted over a point minutes later. Cormac Murphy then added one of his own on the 47th minute to stretch our lead to six. At this point in the game, Caulry should have drove on and saw the game out, however, Shamrocks weren’t going to go down without a fight. This revolution was helped by the fact that they were handed a goal opportunity on a platter on the 47th minute, which they pounced on and converted to half the deficit. Their centre-forward then single handedly overturned the deficit when he added the next four points of the game; two of these from ‘45’s, one a free and one a fabulous point from play on the 57th minute (during this period Conor Hynes also brought off a vital save). It looked unlikely that Caulry would come away with a win as time ran into stoppage, but our lads knew a result was needed in order to keep their championship hopes alive. They moved the ball patiently up the field, waiting for a scoring opportunity to arise, which came on the 62nd minute when Baker was fouled. Murphy routinely tapped this one over to level the game. Mullingar Shamrocks won the following kickout and made a pass down the field, but much to their dismay Dara Shortall was the eager recipient as the ball was overturned; this attack eventually resulted in another foul being committed, and once again Murphy slotted the ball over the bar. The referee allowed one more passage of play to transpire and it eventually finished in the form of a Doyle point as this secured our victory with two-points to spare.
Team & Scorers: Conor Hynes, Dara Shortall, Cormac Murphy (0-1), Eoin McCormack, David Gaynor, Tadgh Baker (0-1), Brian Doyle (0-3), Harry Stuart Trainor, Alan Lynam, Daniel Lynam, Tiarnán O’Donovan (0-2), Brendan McCormack, Cody Parker (0-2), Lee Corcoran (0-2, 1f), Dylan McCormack (0-1)
Subs: Aaron Murphy (0-4, 3f) for Daniel Lynam
Minor Championship Round 3
Caulry 1-12
Garrycastle 1-12
Our minors had to settle for a share of the spoils when they met Garrycastle in the park on Thursday evening last for their third championship outing.
The sides shared four points in the first quarter of the game; Simon O’Grady’s mark and Aaron Murphy’s free preceded a duo of pointed-frees for the visitors. The game was lacklustre in atmosphere as the first score from play didn’t come until the 16th minute; this from the boot of Lee Corcoran. Garrycastle went on to score two points in tandem (one of these another free and the second from play). Caulry went in at the break with a slight upper hand courtesy of pointed-frees from Murphy to lead 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval.
Caulry were dealt a double blow in the resuming minute of the second half when Brian Doyle was on the receiving end of a black card which set the visitors up for a pointed-free. The opposition made the most of their extra man during this ten-minute interlude as they found space and fired home a goal before adding a duo of points from play. Corcoran’s effort on the 36th minute kept Caulry’s scoreline ticking over but another couple of Garrycastle points had their lead stretched to six. Our lads then added two points to Garrycastle’s one to bring the gap back to five as Doyle re-entered the field on the 40th minute. Now back to full force, the Caulry boys patched together attacks better, although not all these efforts finished with scores as our tally of wides began to grow. We had to wait until the 44th minute for our next score; this a point from Murphy after he drove a penalty kick over the bar rather than in the back of the net. Corcoran’s effort on the 47th minute then narrowed the gap to three, and within 60 second from this score, Caulry found themselves with the lead after Kyle Rainey fired home a goal prior to O’Grady’s point. Garrycastle worked the ball down the field and secured the equaliser on the 54th minute. They then had a ‘45’ awarded, and clearly on the search for the win, they drove in a high ball but John Paul in goals proved his worth when he cleared his line. The last two scores of the game were from frees, one each for either side as the game finished level on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-12.
Team & Scorers: John Paul, Eoin McCormack, Cormac Murphy, Kyle Byrne, Cody Parker, Rory Hatton, Daniel Lynam, David Gaynor, Brain Doyle, Aaron Murphy (0-4, 3f), Dean Burns (0-1), Lee Corcoran (0-4, 1f), Kyle Rainey (1-0), Simon O’Grady (0-3, 1m), Aaron Hanevy

SFC Round 3
Caulry 3-6
St. Loman’s 3-10
Our seniors suffered another defeat in this year’s championship at the hands of reigning county champions St. Loman’s when the sides met in Cusack Park on Friday evening last.
St. Loman’s got off to the best of starts when a high ball in landed into the back of the Caulry net as Jack Connaughton was caught off-guard possibly due to the glistening sunshine. The Mullingar men then added a point, this from mark, before Caulry got going on the 6th minute; Senan Baker was the man who kicked our opening point after efforts from Kevin Maguire and Ben Moran were unsuccessful. The opposition were more efficient up front as they accounted for the next four points of the game, two from frees and two from play. Caulry played with a packed defence, and this showed up front as we were slow to get scores with Alan Malynn registering our next point on the 18th minute after getting the finishing touch to Baker’s effort. From this kickout, St. Loman’s worked the ball down along the sideline before their no. 11 split the posts. The Mullingar side then stretched their lead to ten with their second goal of the game on the 21st minute. Caulry managed to draw two of these back before the break with Damien Dolan and Baker adding points. During this period, Caulry had multiple scoring opportunities, one of these a goal but Baker over-shot and fired over the bar to leave the scoreboard reading 2-6 to 0-4 at the interval.
St. Loman’s were first to get motoring in the second half, tapping over a point on the 36th minute to further their advantage. Our lads put a dent in the deficit then when Malynn fired home a goal after Baker’s initial effort was blocked. However, St. Loman’s responded in style, slotting over a point before registering their third goal of the game on the 40th minute. Tadgh Baker and Moran added points either side of a converted St. Loman’s free between the 42nd and 47th minutes. Connaughton brought off a fine save as the last ten minutes of the game approached. At this stage, our lads began to take charge of proceedings and attack the play more. This paid dividends on the 54th minute when Baker got a touch to Tiarnán O’Donovan’s ball in and registered a goal to bring the gap back to six. St. Loman’s steadied the ship then with a well-taken point from play. However, the Caulry lads dug deep as Shane Lawless sent a ball in towards our forward line and once again, Baker finished in style on the 60th minute. As the clock ran over, both sides had chances but none of these came to fruition as it all proved to be a little too late from a Caulry point of view.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Darren Hynds, Tom Cloonan, Damien Dolan (0-1), Sean Clinton, Eoghan Grennan, Harry Stuart Trainor, Stephen Connolly, Ben Moran (0-1), Olan Healy, Kevin Maguire, Tadgh Baker (0-1), Conor McCormack, Alan Malynn (1-1), Senan Baker (2-2)
Subs: Tiarnán O’Donovan for Olan Healy, Sean Murphy for Harry Stuart Trainor, Emmet Nally for Damien Dolan, John Maguire for Darren Hynds, Shane Lawless for Sean Clinton
Ladies Intermediate Championship Round 1
Caulry 2-10
Athlone 2-15
Our ladies suffered a defeat in their opening game of this year's championship when they hosted Athlone in the park on Saturday evening last.
The sides were evenly matched in the early stages of the game as by the end of the opening ten minutes it was all square at 0-2 apiece; Leah Hallisy opened the scoring account before Athlone followed suit up their end of the field. Aine Gaynor then added Caulry's second score on the 7th minute after a good catch from Megan Clinton before Athlone's no. 15 popped over the equaliser. The Athlone girls then got four points on the trot, all from play to take the lead. Credit must be given to Aisling Claffey in goals who got a vital touch to Athlone's 16th minute effort and sent the ball over the bar rather than into the back of the net. Gaynor brought Caulry right back into contention then when she riffled the back of the Athlone net after finishing off a nice move started by Amy Murphy. Kate Stuart Trainor levelled proceedings with her well-taken point on the 18th minute. However, Athlone soon had their advantage reinstated when they got their second goal of the game, this from a dropping free. The sides exchanged different periods of dominance and between the 20th and 22nd minutes, it was Caulry's turn to take charge. Gaynor added a duo of points before Hallisy added her second to draw the tally once again (Molly Connaughton and Ruth Martin both playing integral roles in setting up these scores). Athlone's 23rd minute point was cancelled out up our end of the field with Jasmine Maloney putting her name on the scoresheet. However, the Athlone ladies had the final say when they fired home a late goal to leave Caulry trailing 2-7 to 1-7 at the break.
It was all to play for once again on the 32nd minute after Gaynor added her second goal, helped greatly by a ball in from Connaughton. Claffey again done well under pressure, forcing an Athlone point on the 35th minute. The game went on a tit for tat basis then with Athlone keeping the slight upper hand as the scoreline read 2-10 to 2-9 by the 49th minute (both Caulry scores coming from converted-frees by Gaynor). A Caulry attack broke down on the 51st minute and the visitors used this to their advantage, finishing with a point to widen the gap to two. Athlone were all over the play at this point and added the next two scores of the game. A pointed-free from Gaynor momentarily broke the Athlone stride, but the Athlone ladies finished strong as they added two late points to take the win.
Team & Scorers: Aisling Claffey, Ella Corcoran, Ruth Martin, Grace Shortall, Aishlin Gaynor, Amy Murphy, Eunice David, Jasmine Maloney (0-1), Rachel Maguire, Megan Clinton, Ava Hallisy, Molly Connaughton, Kate Stuart Trainor (0-1), Leah Hallisy (0-2), Aine Gaynor (2-6, 3f)
Subs: Susan Duignan for Rachel Maguire, Aoife Collins for Molly Connaughton, Anna Malone for Grace Shortall
Junior 2 Championship Round 1
Caulry 1-14
Garrycastle 2-13
Our juniors came up short against Garrycastle in the park on Sunday morning last when they hosted the side for Round 1 of this year’s Junior 2 Championship.
The teams exchanged early points with Robbie Hickey opening Caulry’s scoring account after his first touch. Garrycastle added the next two points to give themselves a two-point lead by the 5th minute. Liam Malynn had the sides back level by the 9th minute when he kicked a trio of points (two from play and one from a free) to Garrycastle’s singular score (a mark on the 6th minute). The sides were evenly matched and traded another 0-2, this time Sean O’Neill was the man on target for Caulry. Malynn put our lads ahead on the 14th minute with a converted-free after a foul was committed on Hickey to give Caulry the lead for the first time in the game. However, this was short-lived as a converted penalty put the men in red and green back in front four minutes later. Malynn tapped over another routine free to keep Caulry in touching distance and by the 25th minute, the scoreline was overturned 1-7 to 1-5 in our favour when Alan Lynam pocketed himself a goal. The visitors saw out the half with a couple of points then to leave it all-square at the halftime whistle.
Nicky Killane’s fisted point opened the second half to marginally give Caulry the advantage. But, Garrycastle weren’t long about finding their feet, rattling the back of our net on the 32nd minute to reclaim the lead. Points from Luke Buckley and Will Buckley brought the sides back on par by the 41st minute. In a similar vein to the first half, there was very little to separate the sides as between the 42nd and 54th minutes, the sides matched one another for scores; our points came from Malynn (O’Neill breaking the ball down at midfield to set up this attack), Rory Mullins (a fine, long-range effort), Malynn again (Mullins, this time being the instigator having intercepted a Garrycastle attack) and Hickey (a well-taken effort against the breeze). The score that gave the opposition the lead that they wouldn’t lose came on the 55th minute from their full forward which was well-taken after a patient build-up of play. Some missed Caulry chances the preceded the last score of the game, again in the form of a Garrycastle point from play which secured them the two-point win.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Ciaran Allen, Johnny Buckley, Rory Mullins (0-1), Alan Daly, Luke Hamilton, Sean O’Neill (0-1), Alan Lynam (1-0), Oisín Shortall, Will Buckley (0-1), Robbie Hickey (0-2), Luke Buckley (0-1), Liam Malynn (0-7, 3f), Mark Fitzpatrick, Hugh Allen
Subs: Stephen Brookes for Luke Hamilton, Nicky Killane (0-1) for Alan Lynam

Our seniors take on Tang on Sunday afternoon next for their penultimate round robin game of this year’s SFC. Having failed to pick up points in previous rounds, pressure is on our lads to get a result on evening. Cusack Park is the venue for this vital fixture and the sides will take to the field at 3:30pm. All eyes will be on the action to see who will come out on top as a result is needed for both sides if either is to escape the drop to Section B next year. Junior B Championship Round 2
Caulry 2-11
Castledaly 0-8
Our juniors had a good win over Castledaly when they made the short journey to contest their second round of this year’s Junior B Championship on Saturday evening last.
Spectators had to wait until the 8th minute for the first score of the game; a long-range Castledaly point coming after a smattering of missed chances for both sides. Luke Buckley then opened Caulry’s scoring account two minutes later before Olan Healy’s effort put our lads in front when he finished off a move initiated by an intercept from Alan Daly outfield. The homeside accounted for the next two points of the game to overturn the scoreline. But Liam Malynn’s converted-free brought the sides back level once again on the 17th minute. Mark Fitzpatrick had a goal chance then but failed to raise the green flag. However, John Maguire showed well for the following kickout as he burst forward and finished with a point. A point from Castledaly’s no. 8 kept the scoreboard ticking over then, but it was Caulry who finished the better with points from Malynn (another free) and Alan Lynam (two well-taken efforts) giving our lads a three-point advantage at the break.
The sides shared four points in the third quarter of the game with Malynn and Daly adding to Caulry’s tally. Shane Lawless injected a bit of excitement into the otherwise lacklustre half on the 46th minute when he combined with Healy and finished with a goal. Lawless furthered stretched our lead then with a fine point on the 52nd minute. The homeside drew one back then with a pointed-free. However, Caulry had found good rhythm as Sean Murphy fired home our second goal of the game on the 59th minute, this time Oisín Shortall was the instigator of the move. The sides exchanged late points to see Caulry take the win on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-8.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Ciaran Allen, Sean Murphy (1-0), Rory Mullins, Shane Lawless (1-1), Olan Healy (0-1), Brendan McCormack, Oisín Shortall, John Maguire (0-1), Alan Daly (0-1), Robbie Hickey, Will Buckley, Luke Buckley (0-1), Mark Fitzpatrick, Liam Malynn ((0-3, 3f)

As a club, we would like to congratulate Kevin Maguire on his outstanding intercounty footballing career with Westmeath and wish him the very best of luck after his recent announcement that he is retiring from his intercounty career. Kevin debuted in the maroon and white back in 2010 and over his 14 years playing, he made his family, friends and our club very proud. During his time with Westmeath, Kevin helped our county to Division 3 and Division 4 league titles, an O’Byrne Cup title and the 2022 Tailteann Cup victory. Not alone did Kevin pay his dues playing most often with no. 3 on his back, but his exemplary behaviour both on and off the field led to him becoming county captain in 2021, and he served this role for 4 seasons. In doing so, he became the first Caulry man to ever captain our county team. Kevin is a true inspiration and role model for our club and our county, and we are so proud of his contributions. We wish Kevin the very best of luck in his intercounty retirement, but don’t go hanging up your boots yet Kev. You still have plenty of years of club football ahead!!
SFC Round 4
Caulry 1-14
Tang 1-6
Our seniors pulled off a vital win on Sunday afternoon last when they battled it out against Tang for their Round 4 clash of the SFC in Cusack Park.
Our lads got off to the best of starts and were three points up within two minutes of the opening; Conor McCormack pointed straight from the throw-in in which Stephen Connolly won possession. McCormack then converted a free after a Tang kickout was fouled before Senan Baker finished off a long-range effort having combined with Connolly. A Tang point on the 4th minute opened their scoring account but Connolly’s score two minutes later reinstated our three-point lead. The rate of scores then slowed as the next score didn’t come until the 17th minute, again Connolly finishing off this move with Emmet Nally playing an important role in the set up. During the preceding nine-minute passage, Tang did have multiple chances but failed to convert these thanks to the trojan efforts of the Caulry defence with Damien Dolan and Tadgh Baker shining in particular. Points from Tiarnán O’Donovan, Connolly and McCormack kept the scoreboard ticking over as the opposition’s last score of the half came on the 28th minute, this from the boot of their no. 11. Nally was last to put his stamp on the half when he converted a mark to give Caulry a 0-9 to 0-2 lead at the break.
Baker opened the second half account with a point from play after his initial effort when wide. Tang then drew two back with a mark and a free. McCormack converted frees either side of a point from Dolan (this coming after Sean Fox showed well under the kickout) to stretch our lead to nine. However, the opposition were handed a lifeline in the form of a 43rd minute goal. The men in maroon and white then popped over two frees to slice the deficit and give themselves a fighting chance as the final quarter began. The Caulry lads worked tirelessly throughout the game with every man playing his part; one such example saw Nally set up attack, having pressurised the Tang forward-line. This effort resulted in a foul on O’Donovan and gave Baker a chance to widen the gap to five with a free. The opposition then had a trio of chances, but none of these paid dividends as the last score of the game came from Alan Malynn who fired home a goal after a nice pass from substitute Sean Murphy, securing our lads an important win on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-6.
Team & Scorers: Jack Connaughton, Sean Clinton, Tom Cloonan, Damien Dolan (0-1), Tadgh Baker, Kevin Maguire, Sean Fox, Ben Moran, Stephen Connolly (0-3), Olan Healy, Tiarnán O’Donovan (0-1), Conor McCormack (0-5, 4f), Alan Malynn (1-0), Emmet Nally (0-1, 1m), Senan Baker (0-3, 1f)

It will be all to play for on Saturday evening next when our seniors take to the field in Hogan Park, Moate for their fifth and final round robin game of this year’s championship. Having picked up a vital victory against Tang last week, our lads gave themselves a fighting chance at securing a quarter-final spot and avoiding the drop to Section B heading into their last group-stage game. It’s all or nothing though as a win is needed in order to be in with a chance of making this year’s knockout stages. Our lads will have to battle it out against Coralstown/Kinnegad on the evening and kick-off for this important clash is at 5:45pm. We wish the lads and their management team the very best of luck.
Ladies Intermediate Championship Round 4
Caulry 5-16
Clann Gaels 3-4
Our ladies had a comprehensive win over Clann Gaels when they hosted the side for their Round 4 Intermediate Championship clash in the park on a sunny Friday evening last.
Our girls burst out of the tracks with a point from Molly Connaughton within the opening 50 seconds putting a start to the scoring account. Clann Gaels levelled up the game then on the 7th minute. However, Caulry were only getting started as Ava Hallisy got the ball rolling when she fired home a goal on the 14th minute. The same girl then made the most of what could have been a goal for Amy Murphy when she pointed to put four points between the sides. A Clann Gaels free brought the margins back to three, but this was soon doubled as our ladies worked the ball down the field with Jasmine Maloney finishing to the back of the net. Another three-pointer within the same minute, this time Leah Hallisy was on target having launched in a high ball, gave the opposition a mountain to climb. Our ladies saw the half out with further points from Leah, Aine Gaynor and Lauren White to leave the scoreboard reading 3-5 to 0-2 at the halftime whistle.
The Caulry tirade restarted straight after the resumption of play courtesy of a goal from Leah Hallisy. Points from the two Hallisys, White and Maloney preceded Clann Gaels next score of the match. This came on the 41st minute in the form of a goal. However, Caulry responded in style as Ava pulled on a short ball in from Gaynor and registered our fifth goal of the game. To credit the Clann Gael girls, they never gave up as an unanswered 1-1 gave them a slight glimmer of hope as the final quarter began. Ultimately, our girls proved too strong for the ladies in maroon and blue as further points from the Hallisys, Eunice David and Gaynor secured the win. This means our ladies progress into the knock-out stages of this year’s championship with one group stage game to go.
Team & Scorers: Aisling Claffey, Ella Corcoran, Amy Murphy, Grace Shortall, Susan Duignan, Ruth Martin, Eunice David (0-1), Jasmine Maloney (1-1), Aishling Gaynor, Molly Connaughton (0-1), Ava Hallisy (2-3), Rachel Maguire, Lauren White (0-2), Leah Hallisy (2-6), Aine Gaynor (0-2)
Subs: Aoife Collins for Grace Shortall, Siun Lyons for Jasmine Maloney, Katie Killane for Aine Gaynor, Caoimhe Lawless for Ava Hallisy
Junior B Championship Round 3
Caulry 6-16
Maryland 0-8
Caulry had a comfortable win over Maryland in the park on Saturday evening last when the sides met for in the third round of this year’s Junior B Championship.
It was the opposition who were first to get off the mark with a point from play on the 2nd minute. Liam Malynn opened Caulry’s account then after rounding off a patient move. A converted-free from the same man the gave our lads the lead. However, Maryland were hot on our heels as they fired over a point on the 11th minute to tie up proceedings. A quick scoring blitz from our lads then followed which gave us a lead we wouldn’t relinquish; a trio of points from the boots of Alan Daly (after being teed up by Harry Stuart Trainor), Shane Lawless (who made a burst in towards the goal before finishing with a point) and Sean Doyle (a fisted effort after a patch of nice combined teamwork from Alan Lynam and Mark Fitzpatrick) gave Caulry the upper hand before Fitzpatrick pulled on the ball and fired home a goal to double our lead. Maryland drew one of these back from a free, but Lawless cancelled this score out when he won the resultant kickout and fisted the ball over the bar. At this point in the game, Caulry were completely in charge and tagged on an unanswered 2-2 before the visitors managed another score. Will Buckley and Lawless accounted for the points while the duo of goals came from Malynn and Oisín Shortall. The last score of the half was a Maryland pointed-free to leave them trailing 3-8 to 0-4 at the halftime whistle.
This halftime tally was doubled throughout the second half as the game continued in much the same vein with our lads being too strong for the opposition. A Malynn point and goal from Doyle further stretched the Caulry advantage early in the half. A goal from John Maguire was then sandwiched between two pointed-frees for the men in blue and white. Four Caulry points, a ‘45’ from Malynn and three points from play from Lawless, Ciaran Gaynor and Colin Murphy, preceded the opposition’s next score which came on the 53rd minute in the form of a point. Malynn single handedly outscored the opposition 1-3 to 0-1 in the late stages of the half with his goal punctuating the game to see Caulry ease over the opposition on this occasion.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Ciaran Allen, Johnny Buckley, Luke Hamilton, Alan Lynam, Harry Stuart Trainor, Oisín Shortall (1-0), John Maguire (1-0), Colin Murphy (0-1), Will Buckley (0-1), Sean Doyle (1-1), Shane Lawless (0-4), Alan Daly (0-1), Mark Fitzpatrick (1-0), Liam Malynn (2-7, 2f, 1 ‘45’)

U16 Championship Round 4
Caulry 1-8
Tyrrellspass 6-7
Our U16s came up short against Tyrrellspass when they hosted the side in the park on Monday evening last.
Caulry started well with Aaron Buckley opening the scoring account after two minutes. The visitors then followed suit up their end of the field to tie up proceedings. Tyrrellspass went in front with the opening score from play on the 11th minute after they regained possession. The boys in blue and navy kicked up a gear and were 2-4 to 0-1 in front thanks to a brace of scores. Buckley drew one of these back from a free on the 19th minute. Tyrrellspass then accounted for the next two points, but Caulry finished the half well with scores from Buckley, John Paul and Kevin O’Brien to reduce the gap at the break.
Tyrrellspass dominated much of the second half with early goals and points stretching their lead. Our boys got a hold of the game on the 43rd minute when Darragh Martin finished with a point. Luke Berry and Martin added another two scores, before Matthew Allen netted a goal, having got a touch to a ball in from Tristan Dolan. Ultimately, the gap was too wide as Tyrrellspass saw the game out and ran out comfortable winners.
Team & Scorers: Robert Casey, Gavin Quilty, John McDermott, Kevin O’Brien (0-1), Tristan Dolan, Gavin McSharry, Rhys Mason, John Paul (0-1), Ciaran Dunning, Matthew Allen (1-0), Euan Kelly, Luke Berry (0-1), Darragh Martin (0-2), Aaron Buckley (0-3, 3f), Tom Madden
Subs: Darragh Belton for Euan Kelly
Minor Championship Round 5
Caulry 1-5
St. Loman's 2-11
Our minors came up short against St. Loman's when they hosted the Mullingar side in the park on Thursday evening last for their Round 5 of this year's championship.
St. Loman's hit the ground running and were 1-5 to 0-0 up by the end of the opening quarter. Brian Doyle opened our account on the 17th minute, having combined nicely with Lee Corcoran. The sides then exchanged points with Aaron Murphy adding a pointed-free for Caulry after Doyle was fouled. The boys in blue and white added two more points before the interval to lead 1-8 to 0-2 at the break.
The sides were evenly matched throughout the second half as the previously dominant St. Loman's only matched our 1-3 tally. Points were traded early on with Daniel Lynam on target for Caulry. Aaron Hanevy's 38th minute goal brought the deficit back to six. John Paul cleared his line well then as the St. Loman's boys had to settle for a point. Murphy kicked two consecutive points on the 48th and 49th minutes reducing the deficit once again. But ultimately, the gap was too wide as a late 1-1 ensured St. Loman's ran out winners with nine points to spare.
Team & Scorers: John Paul, Kyle Byrne, Cormac Murphy, Dara Shortall, Cody Parker, Eoin McCormack, Daniel Lynam (0-1), David Gaynor, Aaron Murphy (0-3, 2f), Dean Burns, Lee Corcoran, Brian Doyle, Aaron Hanevy (1-0), Luke Nolan, Kyle Rainey
Subs: Cian Malone, Max O'Sullivan, Tyler Mason
SFC Round 5
Caulry 1-9
Coralstown/Kinnegad 1-13
Our seniors bowed out of this year’s championship when they clashed with Coralstown/Kinnegad in Moate on Saturday evening last for their final round-robin game. Only a win would have seen our lads progress to the knockout stages but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be as Caulry came up just four points short of last year’s county finalists.
The nerves from both sides could be felt in the opening minutes of the game with Caulry and Coralstown/Kinnegad missing early scoring chances. Senan Baker was first to find the posts with his effort on the 4th minute opening the scoring account. Coralstown/Kinnegad shortly followed with their starting point coming from a free. Our lads then raced into a three-point lead when Tadgh Baker got a vital touch to Stephen Connolly’s long kick in to pocket the first goal of the game on the 9th minute. The men in white and red were like a pack of wolves on the attack and in defence as they pressurised the ball in numbers. One such example forced a Caulry mistake, allowing the opposition to work the ball up the field for a point. Conor McCormack managed to draw this one back with his 15th minute effort after combined nicely with Alan Malynn. However, it was Coralstown/Kinnegad who had the strongest second quarter as they added 0-7 to Caulry’s 0-1. A trio of points, all from play, preceded Senan Baker’s effort (again Malynn showing well and setting up this score) before the opposition slotted over another four points (three frees and one from play) to retreat to the dressing rooms with a 0-8 to 1-3 lead at the break.
Our lads had it back to level-pegging five minutes after the resumption of play with our scores coming courtesy of McCormack (a ‘45’) and Malynn (Kevin Maguire being instrumental in this move having won the ball at midfield and laying it off to the corner forward). Coralstown/Kinnegad soon found their feet with a duo of points on the 37th and 40th minutes (one a free and one a mark) to marginally widen the gap once again. It looked like a goal was on on the 43rd minute when Sean Murphy found himself in front of the goal but some how or another a Coralstown/Kinnegad man managed to block the kick and send it over to bar; this proved to be a pivotal point in the game with the defender in question being worth his place on the starting 15 for this single action alone as rather than being two points up, our lads still found themselves with a dog fight on their hands and chasing the one point deficit heading into the last quarter of the game. Caulry had chances then which they failed to convert as the next two scores of the game came from the opposition (one from play and another from a free). Connolly brought the deficit back to two once again on the 51st minute to keep our hopes alive. But we were shortly dealt a sucker punch in the form of a Coralstown/Kinnegad goal when the well-drilled side worked the ball down the field and into the back of the next with six minutes of normal time remaining. It was do or die for Caulry at this stage as Baker and Damien Dolan sent over late points. But a goal was needed if we were to progress and ultimately, it never came as the opposition popped over the last score of the game to secure their win. This defeat coupled with the results of others in Section A saw Coralstown/Kinnegad secure a semi-final spot as our lads go tumbling down to Section B. Hard luck lads. A massive thank you to all the players and their management team of Pat Flanagan, Joe Quinn, Brian Mullarney and Kevin Connaughton for all their hard work and commitment during the year. Unfortunately, our championship campaign hasn’t transpired as we would have wished despite the best efforts of our lads. But after a hugely successful league campaign, we can look forward to playing Division 1 ACFL next year which will be a great springboard for the 2025 SFC.

Junior 2 Championship Quarter Final
Caulry 0-17
Loughnavalley 1-10
Our juniors progress to the semi-final stages of this year’s championship when they overcame Loughnavalley on Sunday afternoon last.
Loughnavalley opened the scoring account with a point from play on the 1st minute. Adam Donoghue then matched this score up our end of the field before Alan Lynam added another after winning the following kickout. Liam Malynn kicked Caulry’s third score of the game from a free on the 8th minute. The men in green and yellow brought it back to a one-point game when they overturned our lads in attack. Our lads had a purple patch between the 13th and 25th minutes, adding points to stretch our lead to seven; Malynn added two frees before a stream of points came courtesy of Mark Fitzpatrick (after Johnny Buckley broke down a Loughnavalley attack), Donoghue (after combining with Oisín Shortall), Thomas Dunning and Luke Buckley (two well-taken points). Loughnavalley put a dent in the deficit then with a trio of points. However, this could have been doubled had Cillian Nagle not brough off a save on the 29th minute. Dunning finished off the first half’s scoreline with his effort to see Caulry lead by double scores, 0-10 to 0-5 at the break.
The third quarter of the game consisted of a stop-start passages as the five scores taken were all from placed balls. Only one of these was in our favour which brought the game back to just two points. Luke Buckley kicked the first score from play after seventeen minutes, having combined nicely with Dunning. The opposition levelled this at the other end of the field. Buckley proved to be in the right place at the right time when he added the next two scores from play; firstly he finished off Lynam’s effort on the 48thminute before tapping over another two minutes later after a ball in from Alan Daly. Oisín Shortall and Buckley added further points to further the Caulry lead. However, Loughnavalley were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time which they dutifully converted to take the look off the scoreline, finishing 0-17 to 1-10.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Ciaran Allen, Johnny Buckley, Ciaran Gaynor, Alan Daly, Luke Hamilton, Sean O’Neill, Oisín Shortall (0-1), Alan Lynam (0-1), Luke Buckley (0-5), Thomas Dunning (0-3), Will Buckley, Adam Donoghue (0-2), Mark Fitzpatrick (0-1), Liam Malynn (0-4, 4f)

Minor Championship Quarter Final
Caulry 2-14
Killucan 1-12
Caulry and Killucan served up an exciting contest in the park on Sunday afternoon last when the sides finished all square after full time and extra time was needed to see who would progress to the semi-final stages.
Caulry pointed straight from the throw-in with Aaron Murphy splitting the posts after 30 seconds of play. John Paul was denied a goal after a nice pass in from Kyle Rainey as Killucan’s opening point of the game came on the 5th minute. Dean Martin was next to find his shooting boots with his score coming on the 7th minute before Cormac Murphy done similar on the 10th. The sides then exchanged points with Rainey’s effort cancelling out Killucan’s. Lee Corcoran put three between the sides on the 14th minute, and this lead was soon double when Aaron Hanevy fired home a goal on the 24th minute (Rory Hatton and Simon O’Grady being instrumental in this move). The yellow bellies always kept in touching distance adding 0-3 to Caulry’s 0-1 (a fisted effort from Hanevy) to give Caulry a four-point advantage at the break.
Caulry were wasteful in the opening minutes of the second half with two goal chances going astray. It was three times a charm though as Murphy struck lucky on the 33rd minute. Despite this positive start, our boys failed to push on and by the 44th minute, it was back to two points after the yellow bellies rattled off 1-2 in quick succession. Caulry had some chances but were unable to find the target as Killucan completely dominated play. In particular, the opposition were all over our kickout which really paid dividends between the 50th and 53rd minutes as they rattled off a trio of quick points, and as a result, gave themselves a one-point lead. It was do or die at this stage in the game as it looked as though our lads were heading out of the championship. But the Caulry boys dug deep as Killucan crumbled under the pressure, giving away two soft frees which Murphy dutifully converted, overturning the scoreline in tow. The yellow bellies were given a lifeline on the 60th minute and they made the most of this, popping over the equaliser and forcing extra-time.
Caulry hit the ground running in the first couple of minutes of extra time with a duo of points (O’Grady pointed straight from the throw-in after a good catch from David Gaynor and Daniel Lynam fired over a point after firstly intercepting the play in defence and tearing up the field to be on the receiving end of the pass). Corcoran’s 8th minute effort widened the gap to three momentarily before a Killucan free left just two between the sides at the interval.
Corcoran popped over a ‘45’ in the early stages of the second passage. Cody Parker then sent over the insurance point as he widened the gap to four. The Caulry lads were willing to die with their boots on as they gave everything to the final few minutes of play, not letting Killucan sneak a much-needed goal. The last score of the game eventually came from Murphy (another free) as our lads had done enough to secure a semi-final spot.
Team & Scorers: Max O’Sullivan, Dara Shortall, Cormac Murphy (0-1), Kyle Byrne, Cody Parker (0-1), Eoin McCormack, Rory Hatton, David Gaynor, Lee Corcoran (0-3, 1 ‘45’), Aaron Murphy (1-4, 3f), John Paul, Dean Martin (0-1), Kyle Rainey (0-1), Simon O’Grady (0-1), Aaron Hanevy (1-1)

J2FC Semi-Final
Caulry 0-12
Ballinagore 3-8
Our juniors bowed out of this year’s J2FC at the semi-final stages when they came up short against Ballinagore’s first team on Saturday afternoon last.
Caulry burst out of the tracks with Thomas Dunning opening the scoring account after 24 seconds. Our lads defended well in the opening stages of the game, keeping Ballinagore at bay until the 5th minute when their no. 12 finished with a point. The men in maroon and white then added another to take the lead. Luke Buckley had a chance to score on the 8th minute but missed. However, he done right at the second time of asking when he fired over a point on the 12th after a very patient build-up. Blink and you would have missed it though as the Bal boys worked the ball from a short kickout, straight down the field and into the back of the Caulry net within seconds of Buckley’s preceding point. The opposition then followed this up with point (although at one stage, there was a goal on) to give themselves a four-point cushion. Will Buckley drew one of these back at the end of the first quarter. However, in similar fashion to their first goal, Ballinagore fired home another three-pointer on the 16th minute giving Caulry a six-point deficit to chase. To credit our lads, we began to dominate the latter stages of the half, outscoring Ballinagore 0-4 to 0-1 between the 19th and 28th minutes; Malynn fired over three of these (one ‘45’ and two frees) while Adam Donoghue accounted for the only score from play after a ball in from Oisín Shortal. However, our lads let their guard slip in the last few minutes of the half and, rather than going in at the break just to three points behind, it was double that after Ballinagore registered their hattrick, leaving the scoreboard reading 3-4 to 0-7 at the break.
Ballinagore were first off the mark in the second half momentarily stretching their lead to seven. Buckley brought the deficit back to five with his efforts (one from play and one from a mark). Further scores from Liam Malynn and Alan Daly gave Caulry a fighting chance as the Ballinagore men seemed to die out of this third quarter. The sides then traded points with Thomas Dunning’s effort bouncing over the bar on the 45th minute. Ballinagore kicked the next two scores of the game to stretch their lead to five by the 52nd minute. This transpired to be the final score of the game as the opposition had done enough to secure their place in the final. Hard luck to our lads and their management team.
Team & Scorers: Conor Hynes, Ciaran Gaynor, Johnny Buckley, Luke Hamilton, Brendan McCormack, Ciaran Allen, Sean O’Neill, Oisín Shortall, Alan Lynam, Alan Daly (0-1), Thomas Dunning (0-2), Will Buckley (0-1), Luke Buckley (0-3, 1m), Mark Fitzpatrick, Liam Malynn (0-4, 2f, 1 ‘45’)

Ladies Intermediate Championship Semi-Final
Caulry 4-7
Loughnavalley 5-12
Our ladies' intermediate championship campaign came to an end in the semi-final stages when they were defeated by Loughnavalley in Rosemount on Saturday afternoon last.
Caulry were first off the mark with Leah Hallissy firing over an early point. However, it wasn't long before Loughnavalley found their feet, and they done so in style with a goal on the 4th minute. Megan Clinton was unlucky then as she fired just wide of the target of what would have been a fantastic goal. Rather, it was the opposition who were next to score; this coming on the 7th minute from a free. The opening half was an entertaining spectacle from a supporters' point of view as the scoreline was soon overturned back in Caulry's favour after Ava Hallissy fired home a goal (a brilliant catch from Ashling Gaynor at midfield setting up this play) before Aine Gaynor split the posts. However, the girls in yellow and green always seemed to have the slight upper hand on Caulry as a quick fire 1-2 had them back in front by the end of the opening quarter. It was like a game of tennis as the ball raced from one end of the field to the other as it was all-square once again by the 21st minute after a goal from Gaynor and point courtesy of Molly Connaughton. Loughnavalley broke Caulry's stride momentarily with a point then. However, now with our tails up, the Caulry girls worked hard and set Leah Hallisy up for a goal on the 25th minute. Despite this, Loughnavalley were still chomping at the bit and after a quick fire duo of goals within seconds of one another, the girls in yellow and green lead by four at the break.
Loughnavalley started the second half with intent, racing up the field from the throw-in and registering their fifth and final goal of the game. The sides then shared a tally of 1-5, with Aine Gaynor adding a point and goal either side of the opposition's tally of 0-4. Although evenly matched in many respects, Loughnavalley's accuracy up front proved to be the difference between the two sides as they added a duo of points to further stretch their lead. Leah Hallisy drew one of these back on the 49th minute. The sides shared 0-4 in the later stages of the game, but ultimately, Loughnavalley had done enough to book their place in the county final.
Team & Scorers: Aisling Claffey, Ella Corcoran, Amy Murphy, Anna Malone, Susan Duignan, Ruth Martin, Eunice David, Jasmine Maloney, Ashling Gaynor, Molly Connaughton (0-1), Rachel Maguire, Megan Clinton (0-1), Ava Hallisy (1-2, 2f), Leah Hallisy (1-2), Aine Gaynor (2-1)

Division 2 Minor Championship Semi-Final
Caulry 1-4
Garrycastle 4-14
Our minors bowed out of this year’s championship at the semi-final stages when they travelled to Garrycastle to play the homeside under lights on a chilly Thursday evening last.
Garrycastle opening the evening’s scoring account with a point from play. Simon O’Grady had a chance to score then, but failed to find the posts. However, our boys pounced on the following kickout and it set Kyle Rainey up for a goal on the 5th minute. Despite this optimistic start, our boys failed to push on as the next score of the game was in a similar vein, but this time it was the homeside who accounted for the three-pointer. Garrycastle then followed this up with a pointed-free on the 14th minute. The sides exchanged periods of dominance in the following minutes, but both sides were wasteful up front; Garrycastle ruing two goal chances while our boys notched up a trio of wides. The next score of the game came on the 21st minute, another converted free for the boys in green and red. Aaron Hanevy took his point well then on the 24th minute to bring the gap back to two. However, Garrycastle were looking dangerous up front and their no. 6 finished to the back of the net after tearing up the field. Caulry had a chance to score late in the half from a mark, but this effort was overturned as the homeside made the most, finishing with a point to lead 2-4 to 1-1 at the break.
Garrycastle were more or less home and hosed by the 37th minute of play as a quick tirade of points stretched the lead. Simon O’Grady and Lee Corcoran kicked pointed either side of Garrycastle’s hattrick. Max O’Sullivan brought off a couple of good interventions in goal throughout the second half to keep the dwlidling Caulry hopes alive, but ultimately, it wasn’t to be. Corcoran accounted for our last score of the game on the 52nd minute (a well-taken free) but this was interspersed with a myriad of Garrycastles scores as they ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 4-14 to 1-4.
Team & Scorers: Max O’Sullivan, Dara Shortall, Cormac Murphy, Rory Hatton, Eoin McCormack, Dean Martin, Daniel Lynam, David Gaynor, Lee Corcoran (0-2, 1f), Aaron Hanevy (0-1), Aaron Murphy, Cody Parker, Kyle Rainey (1-0), Simon O’Grady (0-1), Cian Malone

U20 Championship Quarter Final
Caulry 3-13
Tyrrellspass 3-16
Our U20s bowed out of this year’s championship at the quarter final stages when they battled it out against Tyrrellspass in Shandonagh on Saturday last.
The first score of the game came via a converted ‘45’ from Andrew Stuart Trainor. Tyrrellspass sent over the levelling score via a free on the 9th minute. The opposition then nose in front with the first score from play of the game. Stuart Trainor accounted for our second score, this from a mark on the 12th minute. The sides were evenly matched for much of this half, trading another duo of points. A 20th minute goal from Tadgh Baker injected a bit of excitement into the game (both the goal scorer and midfielder Harry Stuart Trainor combing nicely to set up this important score). Caulry then pounced on the following kickout with Tiarnán O’Donovan finishing off this play with a point. The opposition briefly intercepted this period of Caulry dominance with a point of their own on the 21st minute, however, three further points from Oisín Shortall and Andrew Stuart Trainor stretched our lead. Tyrrellspass kicked the last score of the half to see them trail 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.
It looked as though our lads might run away with the game in the early stages of the second half as Shortall fired home a goal before Stuart Trainor added another pointed-free. However, the opposition weren’t going to lie down and surrender as a trio of Tyrrellspass points slashed the deficit. The tide began to turn quickly against Caulry as an altercation reduced both sides to 14 players, with one of our key forwards leaving the field. We suffered a double blow then as the lads in blue and navy worked the ball up the field and rattled the back of the Caulry net, leaving just three points between the sides. Our next score came via Lee Corcoran on the 48th minute after a patient build up. However, Tyrrellspass remained calm and collected as the Caulry lads seemed to buckle under the pressure with another player retreating to the dugout. The opposition picked their scores well as four unanswered points meant Caulry would have the undesirable fate of playing extra time with two men down.
Tyrrellspass nosed in front as they kicked the first score of extra time. However, the scoreline was shortly overturned when O’Donovan, like a man on a mission, headed straight for goal and rattled the back of the Tyrrellspass net. We owned much of the following possession, but failed to take our scoring chances, including one goal opportunity. Unlike ourselves, Tyrrellspass were more clinical up front and pocketed a goal of their own on the 5th minute from a long-distance kick. Dean Burns’ point momentarily brought the game back to level, but by the halftime whistle, Tyrrellspass had reinstated their two-point lead.
The sides exchanged points in the early stages of the second passage of extra time. However, by the halfway mark, Tyrrellspass were as good as home and hosed when they added 1-1 in quick succession. Our lads drew two points back, but ultimately, Tyrrellspass had done enough to secure their semi-final spot. Hard luck to the lads and their management.
Team & Scorers: Conor Hynes, Rory Hatton, David Gaynor, Eoin McCormack, Dean Martin, Tadgh Baker (1-0), Brendan McCormack, Harry Stuart Trainor, Alan Lynam, Dean Burns (0-1), Oisín Shortall (1-3, 2f), Aaron Murphy (0-1, 1f), Lee Corcoran (0-2, 1f), Tiarnán O'Donovan (1-1), Andrew Stuart Trainor (0-5, 2f, 1 ‘45’, 1m)

Junior B Championship Round 4
Caulry 3-20
Garrycastle 0-6
Our Junior B team returned to the field on Saturday afternoon last when they host Garrycastle for Round 4 of this year’s championship.
Caulry burst out of the tracks and had five points notched up before Garrycastle opened their account with a point from play on the 11th minute; our scores all coming from play from Liam Malynn, Luke Buckley and Shane Lawless. The men in red green and red tapped over their second from play, but Buckley dutifully followed this up with another well-taken score. Another Garrycastle point was cancelled out by a converted ‘45’ from Malynn. The opposition stuck with Caulry well at this point in the game, matching our every score. However, the tables turned back in our favour on the 21st minute after a nice move forward by Malynn enabled Brendan McCormack to pocket the first of our goals. Caulry went on to outscore the visitors 0-4 to 0-1 before the break, giving us a nice cushion at the interval.
The second half followed in much the game vein as the first with Caulry dominating throughout. McCormack was first to split the posts after five minutes. Garrycastle drew this back with a pointed-free. However, Caulry weren’t long about finding their stride with well-taken points from McCormack, Lawless, Buckley and Alan Lynam. Before the fulltime whistle, Caulry managed to fire home two goals as well; these from the boots of Lynam and Malynn as ultimately, Caulry were too strong for the opposition.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Glen Carolan, Sean Murphy, Sean O’Neill, Harry Stuart Trainor, Olan Healy (0-1), Oisín Shortall, Shane Lawless (0-3), Colin Murphy, Will Buckley, Mark Fitzpatrick, Brendan McCormack (1-2), Luke Buckley (0-6), Liam Malynn (1-6,1f, 2 ‘45’), Adam Donoghue
Subs: Alan Lynam (1-2) for Olan Healy

Minor AGM
Our club Minor AGM takes place this Thursday, 28th of November in Mount Temple Community Hall at 7:45pm. All welcome.
Club AGM
The Annual General Meeting of our club took place on Friday evening last in Mount Temple Community Hall.
Outgoing chairman Richie Higgins extended a warm welcome to attendees and began his address. Richie began by mentioning the ongoing development and how we can look forward to the opening of the new facilities shortly. He gave a brief run down of how our teams represented our club so well this year and extended sincere gratitude to all management teams and coaches. He further thanked the club minor committee, GPO and ladies committee for their work during the year. Richie praised the work of Seamus Claffey as park maintenance officer and of Jim and Sean who keep our facilities looking so well. Richie also complimented to work of Kevin Connaughton and his fellow development committee, alongside contractor John G Buckley and his staff as they prepare our new gym and dressing rooms which will be of ‘great benefit’ to our club and local community. Richie also praised all who represented our club on county teams, in particular mentioning Kevin Maguire for giving our club many years of enjoyment. Richie thanked the local schools for their continued promotion of the games in our community and thanked fellow committee members and officers for their support during the year. Richie finished by offering sympathies to all who lost loved ones this year, mentioning some of our key club stalwarts that passed.
Outgoing secretary Keith Dolan then gave his address. He gave a full run down of match results for the year, terming our senior campaign as a season of "two halves"; having gained promotion to Division 1 of the ACFL for the first time since 2016 but falling short of a knock-out spot in the championship and dropping to Section B for 2025. He reiterated many of the chairman's messages of gratitude to management teams, coaches, supporters, fellow committee members and club members. He praised all those who represented our club at inter county level too, congratulating Kevin Maguire, Senan Baker, Conor McCormack and Jack Connaughton for their part played in Westmeath's Division 3 success. He stated it would be remiss of him not to single out Kevin, having announced his inter county retirement earlier this year, and congratulated him on his stellar inter county career. Keith concluded his address by wishing everyone a happy Christmas and new year.
Outgoing treasurer Damien Dolan presented a comprehensive report of the club's finances over the past year and thanked all supporters and sponsors for their continued generosity.

Junior B Championship Quarter Final
Caulry 5-13
Ballymore 0-5
Our Junior B’s had a comprehensive win in their quarter-final pairing against Ballymore in blustery conditions in the park on Sunday morning last.
Aided with the strong breeze at their backs, our lads completely took charge of proceedings from the throw-in and built up a dominate lead. A free from Liam Malynn opened the scoring account before Colin Murphy overturned the Ballymore kickout and set Luke Buckley up for a goal. Further points from Buckley, Olan Healy and Thomas Dunning were added before the opposition ever got their first attack; this coming on the 9th minute but fell short of the target as a result of the strong wind. Rather than a score for the opposition, it was a Caulry point that came next; this time from the boot of Alan Daly. Dunning, Shane Lawless and Buckley all split the posts within the next three minutes. Buckley struck lucky for a second time on the 17th minute when he riffled the ball to the back of the Ballymore net after Healy overturned a Ballymore attack. Malynn and Daly added further points before Ballymore kicked their opening score of the game on the 24th minute from a free. Their second point came within minutes of this and in a similar fashion too as their no. 15 tapped over a routine free. However, Dunning drew this one back before the interval as Caulry retreated to the dugout at the break with a 2-11 to 0-2 lead.
The opposition started the second half with good intent, sending over an early point now with the breeze in their favour. However, a goal from Lawless on the 33rd minute soon diminished their hopes for a win. The rate of scores reduced significantly in this period as the Trojan-like Caulry defence refused to let Ballymore back into the game. The sides shared just four points within the next quarter-hour of play; Buckley and Healy added Caulry’s points while Ballymore’s no. 5 was their sole scorer during this period. In the late stages of the game, Lawless and Buckley added goals: Lawless doing well on the 49th minute, rounding the opposition’s defence before pocketing a goal as Buckley’s hattrick came on the 57th minute. Ultimately, our lads were too strong for the opposition and ran out comfortable winners to secure a place in the semi-final.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Will Buckley, Sean Murphy, Glenn Carolan, Oisín Shortall, Olan Healy (0-2), Harry Stuart Trainor, Colin Murphy, Shane Lawless (1-2), Brendan McCormack, Tom Cloonan, Alan Daly (0-2), Luke Buckley (3-3), Liam Malynn (0-2, 1f), Thomas Dunning (0-2)
Subs: Adam Donoghue for Brendan McCormack

Junior B Championship Final Fixture
After an impressive bout of games, including a well-earned semi-final win over Tubberclair last weekend, our Junior B team now look forward to a county final against Tyrrellspass. Our club have only ever won this championship three times previously. They originally claimed the title in 1974 and followed this up again in 1985 and 2003, and now after a 21 year wait, our lads will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of those before them and inscribe their names into the history books when they take to the field. The game is expected to take place next weekend. Check out our social media and ClubZap for confirmation of the fixture.
All supporters are asked to don the red and white and get behind the lads on the day.
Good luck to the lads and their management team.
Minor AGM
Our minor board AGM took place during the week. The following officers were elected:
Minor chairman: Irvine Allen
Vice chairman: Bernard Corcoran
Minor secretary: John Dolan
Other positions discussed on the night to be filled in the coming weeks.
A run-down of some of the mentors for our underage teams then followed and anyone else interested in putting their name forward can contact anyone on the minor board to do so.
New players and volunteers are always welcome.
A massive thank you to all involved during the 2024 season and we look forward to action resuming in the new year.
Junior B Championship Semi Final
Caulry 3-13
Tubberclair 2-8
Our Junior B side booked their place in the county final when they defeated Tubberclair in the park on Sunday morning last.
Tubberclair were first to get motoring as they booted over a free. However, Caulry, with a slight breeze at their backs, weren’t long about notching up scores and by the 10th minute, we had a tally of 1-4 on the scoreboard; Liam Malynn opened our scoring account from a free before Luke Buckley accounted for the first score from play (this a well taken goal after a fine pass from Will Buckley). Buckley, Alan Malynn and Thomas Dunning were next to split the posts. Dunning added his second score on the 12th minute after Alan Malynn laid the ball off to him. It wasn’t just the Caulry forwards who impressed as their defensive counterparts proved their worth throughout the game, with Sean Murphy intercepting numerous Tubberclair attacks and holding the opposition scoreless for much of this first period. A point from Buckley on the 19th minute kept the scoreboard ticking over (Olan Healy being instrumental in setting up this piece of play). The sides then shared four points in the closing stages of the half (Liam Malynn tapping over two Caulry frees) to leave our lads in front by eight at the break.
The men in yellow and green got scores easier in the second half, the wind proving to be an important asset. They restarted the game with a duo of points to reduce the deficit somewhat. The next three scores came from the boots of Caulry men; Liam Malynn with another free and a pair of points from play from Healy and Glenn Carolan. Tubberclair’s next point came in the form of another free, this being tapped over by their no. 11. However, our lads showed their class when Buckley got his fist to a ball in by Carolan and rattled the back of the visitor’s net for a second time. This seemed to awaken Tubberclair up as they raced down the field with their full forward finishing in similar fashion. The opposition followed this up with two points to leave a gap of just six with twelve minutes to play. However, the Caulry lads showed good composure with Buckley and Sean Murphy picking their scores well. Mark Fitzpatrick then put the final nail in the coffin for the Tubberclair men when he hit the back of the net, this time John Maguire playing an integral role in setting up this score. The opposition got a late consolation goal, but ultimately, Caulry had done enough and now progress to a county final which looks likely to be fixed on Saturday next.
Team & Scorers: Cillian Nagle, Glenn Carolan (0-1), Sean Murphy (0-1), Sean O’Neill, Brendan McCormack, Tom Cloonan, Harry Stuart Trainor, Olan Healy (0-1), Shane Lawless, Will Buckley, Alan Malynn (0-1), Alan Daly, Thomas Dunning (0-2), Liam Malynn (0-4, 4f), Luke Buckley (2-3)
Subs: Oisín Shortall for Harry Stuart Trainor, Alan Lynam for Brendan McCormack, Mark Fitzpatrick (1-0) for Thomas Dunning, John Maguire for Shane Lawless, Adam Donoghue for Alan Malynn

Junior B Championship Final
Caulry 2-9
Tyrrellspass 1-5
Our lads were crowned Junior B Champions when they overcame Tyrrellspass on Sunday afternoon last.
The homeside were first to settle into proceedings, opening the scoring account with a point from play on the 1st minute. Tyrrellspass then had the next series of attacks, none of which were successful; two fell short while two went wide. Alan Malynn got Caulry motoring on the 7th minute with a point from play. His brother Liam showed great vision moments later when he booted in a long-range free into the awaiting arms of Olan Healy who lobbed the keeper and gave our lads a three-point lead. Liam Malynn was next to score, this time from a free. Caulry’s scores came thick and fast at this passage of play with Glenn Carolan being next to shoot, having combined nicely with Shane Lawless. A further score from Luke Buckley (a mark) put Caulry six points the good. However, our lads let their heads dip in later stages of the half as a trio of scores for the men in blue and navy halved the deficit. A late effort from Thomas Dunning had the scoreboard reading 1-5 to 0-4 at the break.
The second half was a much different game as a pace and rate of scores slowed. Liam Malynn initially sent over a free after the reset. But that was as good as it got until the last ten minutes of play. To credit the Caulry defence, they worked tirelessly throughout the second half and held the opposition almost scoreless. Liam Malynn’s 51st minute penalty strike restarted the scoring before further points from Malynn, Lawless and Alan Daly put ten points between the sides. It was injury time before Tyrrellspass tagged on any scores; they added 1-1 but ultimately, our lads had done enough to secure the win and were crowned Junior B Champions. Well done the lads and all involved with the team including Kevin Connaughton, Brian Mullarney, Pat Flanagan, Joe Quinn, James Hickey, Conor Muldoon and Laura Doyle.

Development Update
We are delighted to announce the completion of our new development encompassing two dressing rooms, a referees room and toilets downstairs, and a state-of-the-art gym spanning almost the entirety of the second level, overlooking both playing fields.
We were given a glimpse of what to expect back in February 2023 with the launch of our hugely successful Lord of the Mount fundraiser when drafted images of our development were shared and looking at the finished product, we think most would agree that we have exceeded all expectations.
Ground was broke a year later, with the official turning of the sod taking place on the 10th of February 2024, and now a short 10 months on, what was a vacant space is now home to our newest facilities.
A massive thank you and congratulations to John G, Mick and Rory, to our architect Johnny Buckley and to all other staff for their tremendous work over the past 10 months in bringing our plans to life.
A huge thanks also to Kevin Connaughton and his development committee of Hugh Gaynor, Joe Roarke and Padraig Killane who put in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes in order to get this project completed.
And finally, thank you to all our generous sponsors who contributed to our Lord of the Mount Fundraiser. Without you and your generosity, none of this would have happened.
As a club, we have created top class facilities which will be used by our community and the generations to come.
We look forward to having the official opening in the new year, so for now you can enjoy a sneak peek of the facilities by checking out our recent post on our social media.
