The Downs 5-18
Caulry played very hospitable hosts to The Downs on Bank Holiday Monday last. The scoreline tells its own story as this was a very inept and disappointing display by our lads against a well drilled and hungry visiting side. All our teams renowned fighting spirit and skill characterises were sadly lacking on this occasion and the Black and Ambers romped to an easy victory. Ciaran Geoghegan gave a fine display in goal and Neil Clinton gave an excellent display all through, but the support was not forthcoming from their team mates.

Caulry 1-10
Moate 4-12
On the following Wednesday, Caulry travelled to Moate to take on the home side in another league fixture. With a small squad to pick from and illness and injury adding to the lack of numbers, matches in quick succession like this are the last thing a team needs. However, the urgency to finish the league before Junior cert commencement takes precedent. With many of the players in class and school together, this was a hard fought and well contested affair throughout. At half time we trailed 0-5 to 1-6 and unlucky not to be ahead, but for some fine goalkeeping by the Moate custodian. However, this match changed dramatically early in the second half, when some basic defensive errors gifted the Lilywhites three quick goals. However, we showed admirable fighting qualities to hit back with a succession of fine points. However, some more good goalkeeping, a missed penalty, hitting the post and some other unorthodox misses, left the home side rather flattering winners in the finish. For Caulry, Adam Mullins did a superb marking job in defence, where Aaron Fallon, Dylan Lowry and Sean Woods also showed to good effect. Despite a carrying a painful injury, Colin Murphy gave his usual wholehearted committed display, while Darcy Lawless and Lee Guinan won a lot of possession and finished with some fine scores to their credit in addition.

Caulry 2-9
St. Paul’s 2-11
Caulry travelled to St. Paul’s on a windy Sunday afternoon last and came up short against the homeside.
Caulry raced into a seven point lead with two well-taken goals from Emmet Nally and a point from Harry Hughes. St. Paul’s narrowed the gap with a goal in the 9th minute. Both teams traded points, leaving just three points between the sides at the interval, on a scoreline of 2-7 to 1-7.
On the resumption, the Caulry lads worked well and extended their lead with a quick point from Conor McCormack. However, the decisive score came in the 40th minute as St. Paul’s drew level after hitting the back of the Caulry net. A late pointed-free from Eoin Fox meant the match finished on a scoreline of 2-11 to 2-9. Overall, the Caulry lads worked well, with Pat Buckley, Ernie Buckley and Sean Clinton having good games in defence.
