Caulry reach Intermediate Final

St. Lomans: 1-03

In a very close and hard fought game, Caulry reached the final of the Westmeath Intermediate Football Championship when they accounted for St. Lomans at the penultimate in a game played at Moynihan Park, Ballynacargy, on Sunday last.

The winners now meet St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge in the decider.

Even though Terry Shields pointed Loman’s into an early lead, Caulry settled down quickly, and a Jack Allen goal in the 25th minutes helped them to a lead at the break, by 1-01 to 0-02. As in the opening thirty minutes, scoring was also low in the second moiety, with both sets of backs on top.

Unfortunately, for Loman’s, two elementary mistakes by the St. Loman’s defence led to the two Caulry goals and the winners, with possible less of the play, fought all the way and their will to win carried them to the county final

For Caulry, Tom Seery, Tom Flanagan, Anthony Allen and Jack Allen played well, while for the loosers, Matt Mulligan, Mick Tyrrell, Gerry Nohill and Tommy Lambden tried hardest.
