Mobile Cardiac Screening
GAA will host a Mobile Cardiac Screening in the park on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30am to 5pm. This service costs €67.50 per person or is free with LAYA Health Insurance. For more information on how to book, visit www.ameds.ie or check out our Facebook page.
Intermediate Championship Semi-Final Replay Fixture
Caulry and Tang must go to battle again after last weekend’s draw on a scoreline of 1-9 apiece to see which side will advance to this year’s county final. This remarkable match was like history repeating itself as when the sides last met at the semi-final stages of the championship in 2014, a replay was also necessary to separate the teams after finishing all-square on 1-10 apiece. On that occasion, Caulry managed to get the better of Tang in the replay, prevailing by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-9 in Athlone. Hopefully our lads will follow suit this year when they take to the field for the replay on Sunday afternoon next in Athlone. Kick-off for this all-important clash is at 3pm all supporters are asked to get behind the lads in their bid to make the intermediate final against an awaiting Milltownpass side.

U6 Nursery Football
Our U6 Nursery came to a conclusion on Tuesday evening last on a beautiful sunny evening in the park. It was a great year of fun practicing new skills and learning basic fundamental movements. The club nursery is all about fun, enjoyment and forming friendships.
Many thanks to club man Kevin Maguire, Boidu Sayeh from Rosemount and Johanna Maher from Tyrrellspass who gave their time freely to join us on the evening and present the children will their trophies. We would also like to thank Donie Malone who brought the Division 3 cup and the O'Byrne Cup for the children to see.
Well done to all the children on their hugely successful year and many thanks to all the coaches and parents for their continued support and contributions.
U10 Larry Nugent Tournament
Our U10 boys had a very busy morning in the park on Saturday morning last as they played host to a series of teams for the annual Larry Nugent Tournament. Four clubs took part in the blitz including St. Josephs Gaa, Castledaly Gaa, Garrycastle GAA and Caulry with all clubs fielding two teams. Proceedings began at 11am and after some exciting games, the final pairings were as follows:

‘Iarmhí’ Runner-Up Final: Castledaly vs. Garrycastle‘
Westmeath’ Final: St. Josepsh vs. Garrycastle

The teams along with the runners-up were then presented with their medals by Larry Nugent Jnr. on behalf of the Nugent family.
Well done to all the teams and managements involved and to everyone involved in the organising of this tournament. A huge thanks to the parents who provided refreshments on the day and to Rory Mullins, Luke Buckley, Stephen Connolly and Olan Healy for refereeing. Well done all!
U17 Championship
Caulry 0-9
Killucan 4-7
Our U17 lads bowed out of this year’s championship at the quarter-final stages when they hosted a strong Killucan side in the park on Saturday afternoon last.
Killucan started well with three points on the trot, two from frees and one a fine score from play. Rory Mullins then got Caulry motoring after 4 minutes with his well-worked point. Killucan missed some scoring chances as Caulry capitalised, with Alan Malynn converting two frees to draw level. A fine score from Shane Lawless after some good play from James Buckley momentarily put Caulry in front. However, Killucan responded in style by rattling the back of the Caulry net on the 17th minute. Our boys were unlucky as they were denied a goal by a Killucan defender after a brilliant block down. Mullins booted for his second of the game to round off the first half scoring and leave Caulry trailing by one at the break.
The saying that ‘goals win matches’ rang true on this occasion as a blitz of Killucan goals during the second half were crucial to ending our lads’ campaign. The opposition started like an express train after the restart, kicking 1-3 without reply. Points from Malynn cut the deficit by three between the 41st and 46th minutes. However, Killucan soon had their lead restored as they goaled for a third time soon after. The Killucan forwards punched holes in the Caulry defence and added an unanswered 1-1. The Caulry boys struggled to get going, with a late score from Senan Baker seeing Killucan advance to the semi-final with seven points to spare on a scoreline of 4-7 to 0-9.

IFC Semi-Final

Our lads must do it all again after they finished level with Tang in their semi-final clash in a wet and slippery Cusack Park on Sunday afternoon last.
After some sloppy possession by both sides, it was Conor McCormack who opened the scoring tally on 2 minutes following good play from Damien Dolan. A scoring attempt from Emmet Nally was well blocked down, but moments later a fabulous passing move between Nally and Gary Flanagan found Andy O’Sullivan who made no mistake in rattling the opposition’s net. Sean Clinton then put Caulry five points to good before Tang got off the mark on the 7th minute. O’Sullivan was fouled up front and Colin Murphy done well when called upon as he converted the ensuing short-range free with ease. A period of wasteful play then followed which can be accredited to the pouring rain with our defence doing well to keep the opposition scoreless. Sean Fox brought off a vital intercept on the quarter hour mark which was worked up the field and resulted in an impressive long-range point from Stephen Connolly. Harry Hughes then put his name on the scoresheet after nice combined teamwork from Nally and Fox, before Clinton’s second point of the game gave Caulry a eight point lead. Tang then seemed to get some momentum in their play for the closing 10 minutes of the half as three points, two from frees and one being helped over the bar by Cillian Nagle, reduced the Caulry lead five. An unfortunate fumble by Nagle late in the half resulted in a lucky goal for the opposition which saw the scoreboard read 1-6 to 1-4 at the halftime whistle.
It was Tang who opened the scoring tally with a fine long-range point after 3 minutes. Adam Donoghue restored the Caulry lead moments later after a pass from Neil Clinton. Tang then kicked two points to level the match on the 37th minute. However, Caulry responded in style with a superb point from Nally edging our boys in front. The opposition then took the lead for the first time in the game on the 51st minute courtesy of two converted-frees. However, our lads must be commended as they never lost their composure with Connolly tapping over the equalising point two minutes later from a free. Our lads worked tirelessly in the closing stages of the game and done enough to keep the opposition at bay and forced the game to a replay which will be played next weekend.
