Intermediate Football Final

All roads lead to Cusack Park, Mullingar next Sunday, October 7th, when Caulry take on North Westmeath side Castletown/Finea/ Coole/Whitehall (CFCW) in the eagerly awaited Final of this year's Co. Intermediate Football Championship (throw-in 3.30pm). It is 27 long years (1985) since Caulry last won this Championship, with their last appearance in the final being all of 20 years ago. In the intervening years Caulry have yo-yo'd between Junior and Intermediate Club status winning a few Junior Championships along the way, however a coveted Intermediate title with the prize of Club Senior status for 2013 is what is on offer on Sunday next. So a major call is going out to all past players, club members, supporters and particularly parents and families of Caulry's current Under-age set-up to don the red-and-white colours and descend on Cusack Park en-masse next Sunday to cheer on Brendan, his Management Team and the Caulry boys in their bid for glory and their efforts to bring back the coveted Peter Geraghty Cup to the Parish once again. Flags, buntings and all types of decor for the occasion can still be had from Ciaran's shop in Mount Temple but hurry as stocks are disappearing fast !

Hard Luck

Heartbreak for the Caulry Minor squad who went down by the narrowest of margins to local rivals Athlone last Sunday evening in Moate in the semi-final of the Club 1 Minor Championship on a scoreline of Athlone 1-10, Caulry 2-6. This squad of players have been together since u/10 under the management of Tommy Woods & Co and have in the past come so close to landing a major title at u/14 and u/16 so last Sundays defeat has been difficult to take as this team now breaks up as an under-age side, however there is some tremendous footballing talent within the group, a number of whom are part of this year's Intermediate set-up, so here's to better fortunes for these young lads on Sunday next.

Hard luck to Caulry dual player, Jack O'Kelly-Lynch and Ballymore based Hurling side Fr Daltons who went down to Crookedwood in the Co Intermediate Hurling Final last Saturday evening in Mullingar.
