Senior & Junior Championship Fixtures
Our senior team make the journey to Rosemount on Saturday evening next for their round 2 clash of this year’s championship campaign against Killucan. Having failed to pick up points in the opening round, our lads will be hoping to right some wrongs in order to get over the mark at this occasion. Kick-off for the game is at 6pm and we wish the lads and their management the very best of luck.
Meanwhile, our junior side will be hoping to continue on their winning ways when they host Rosemount in the park on the following Wednesday evening at 7:30pm for their second championship outing. Good luck to all involved.
All support is greatly appreciated and details regarding tickets to the games will follow on our social media.
Junior B Championship
Caulry 2-10
Tang 1-22
A much-depleted Caulry Junior B side made the journey to Tang on Wednesday evening last for their final game of the championship.
The two sides exchanged early frees before Peter Smyth struck for a goal on the 5th minute, putting our lads in the lead. The homeside drew two back with a free and point from play prior to Liam Malynn sending over his second pointed-free of the evening. Rory Mullins blocked down a Tang goal chance on the 11th minute with the resulting ‘45’ falling wide of the target. Some good out-field play from James Buckley, Mullins and Thomas Dunning set up the next two Caulry attacks. Both efforts finished with points from Brian Carroll and Smyth. The opposition launched somewhat of a comeback with a trio of points between the 18th and 20th minutes. However, Smyth pulled on a dangerous ball in from Alan Daly to reinstate our six-point lead. Tang impressed at the centre of the field, winning most kickouts as their dominance paid dividends in the form of four unanswered points. Late scores from Mullins and Smyth gave our lads a three-point advantage at the break.
This lead was short-lived in the second half as a hattrick of points saw the homeside level proceedings three minutes after the resumption of play. Dunning momentarily put our noses in front. However, our lack of dominance at midfield proved costly as Tang won the next two kickouts and finished both moves with points to take the lead for the first time in the game. Despite our best efforts, the homeside began to find rhythm to their play as they outscored Caulry 0-5 to 0-2 to lead by four at the water-break. Two further points moments after this interval enabled the homeside to pull away. Smyth kicked our last score on the 58th minute, but ultimately the homeside were home and hosed as they added 1-1 to take the victory.

U15 Championship
Caulry 3-12
Lilliput Gaels 2-7
Our U15 boys had a good win over Lilliput Gaels in the park on Friday evening last for their latest championship game.
Early scores from Aaron Murphy launched our lads into the lead, with Murphy initially converting a free before rattling the back of the Lilliput Gaels’ net moments later. The opposition’s opening score of the game was cancelled out by a point from Dean Byrnes after he combined nicely with Simon O’Grady. The two sides shared four points between the 15th and 22nd minutes before Murphy booted for his second goal of the game. Eoin McCormack worked hard as he added to Caulry’s tally on the 26th minute. Lillput Gaels drew three back when they struck lucky late in the half, but a Fionn O’Donovan point left it double scores at the break on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-3.
Murphy was on fire in the opening eight minutes of the second half as he tagged on 1-3. During this period, Max O’Sullivan brought off two good saves, having denied the opposition a penalty. O’Grady and O’Donovan added points before Lilliput Gaels registered two points of their own. The sides shared four points in the lead up to the full-time whistle as our boys ran out comfortable winners with eight points to spare.
