Intermediate Championship -

Caulry travel to Rosemount on Sunday next to take on St Mary’s Rochfortsbridge in the second round of the Intermediate Championship at 1.30pm.

Division 5 A.C.L.

Caulry 1-13

Athlone 1-9

Caulry overcame Athlone on Wednesday evening last before a good sized attendance in the local park. In doing so they maintained their 100% winning record and achieved promotion to Division 4 for next year. Aidan Murphy started very well at full back but unfortunately picked up a knee injury to enforce his withdrawal. Nevertheless with James Pettit and the evergreen, Pat Buckley in particular in good form, and the relocation of the impressive Eoin Fox to centre back, the backline remained solid. Fox, Alan Daly, Alan Carroll and Robbie Hickey all did well to keep the score board ticking over at vital times. While both teams were guilty of basic handling errors, and taking the wrong option at times, the closeness of the scoreline, left the outcome in doubt right up to the finish and the crowd entertained. Well done to all the Caulry lads, it’s not every year we gain promotion and win all matches in the process. Another small step in the right direction.

They pulled away on the changeover despite two late goals from Caulry giving the scoreboard a more respectable look.

Minor League

The minor squad travelled to Lakepoint Park Mullingar on Monday, June 30th last to take on the local team St Loman’s in the latest Minor league fixture. After an enthralling encounter, were the lead changed hands on several occasions, the teams finished level, in what was probably a fair result for all involved. Our lads have shown steady improvement this year and are playing attractive football. Hopefully, they can maintain this progress.
