Sponsor Our Sod Fundraiser
There is only one week remaining to our 'Sponsor Our Sod' fundraiser initiative, whereupon present and former club members, players, supporters and friends of the club are invited to sponsor a sod on the new playing pitch for €50 and in return all sponsors will have their names permanently displayed and celebrated on a special plaque to be erected on the club grounds. All sponsors will also be entered into a special draw with excellent prizes to be won which will take place at a special club function to be held in Egans, Mount Temple on June 25th next. For more details and sponsorship cards please contact Padraig Killane on 0864083946 or Michael McMahon on 0872890911.
Club Day & Social Evening
In conjunction with the planned Sponsor-a-Sod Draw and Club Social Night in Egans, Mount Temple on next Saturday, June 25th proceedings will commence earlier in the day in the Park when the girls U/age will play a challenge at 4:15pm, followed by a U10 Challenga game at 5:45pm. The Egan Cup will take place at 7pm with Castledaly providing the opposition for Caulry. During half-time in the Egan Cup members of both the Caulry 1985 winning Intermediate Championship team and the winning Junior B Championship team will be formally presented to those in attendance. The Club Social Evening will take place from 8.30pm in Egans, Mount Temple where music and refreshments will be provided. The highlight of the evening will be the grand draw for all those who have generously contributed to the Sponsor-a-Sod fundraiser in aid of the new state of the art sand-based pitch and training grounds currently underway in the club's newly acquired 5-acre site adjoining the club grounds.
We are hoping that as many players, club members, club supporters and friends as possible will join us on Saturday for an historic club occasion.
Minor League
Caulry 5-13
Garrycastle 1-6
Our minors played host to neighbours Garrycastle on Friday evening last for their latest Division 2 Minor League fixture and ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 5-13 to 1-6.
Caulry hit the ground running with a point and a goal from Conor McCormack and Colin Murphy inside the opening five minutes. Garrycastle got off the mark with a point from play. Some good play from Sean Woods allowed Peter O’Kelly Lynch to rattle the back of the Garrycastle net. The teams traded scores with Sean Fox and Jack Bradbury Hughes on target for the homeside. The defence held strong, with Jordan Dunning and Darren Hynds valiant in their endeavours, as a goal from Bradbury Hughes stretched Caulry’s lead. However, the Garrycastle lads worked hard and found the back of the Caulry net on the 26th minute. Further points from Sean Clinton and Bradbury Hughes left Caulry leading 3-6 to 1-3 at the interval.
On the resumption, Kevin O’Flaharty and Sean Fox defended well as Clinton added to the scoring tally. Sean Woods sent the ball to the back of the opposition’s net to widen the margins between the sides. Both sides kicked some fine scores with McCormack and Cialan Dollard on target. Cialan Dollard rattled the opposition’s net late in the game after some good combined teamwork from Liam Doyle and McCormack. Two late points for Garrycastle meant Caulry ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 5-13 to 1-6. This victory means our lads topped their group and win the Division 2 League.
