Junior Championship

Caulry 1-8

St. Lomans 1-15

Caulry suffered a second defeat in this year’s Junior Championship on Friday evening last as they went down very tamely to St. Loman’s.

Both teams hit the ground running and traded early points. On the quarter hour mark, only a point separated the sides, on a scoreline of 0-4 to 0-3. Caulry began to build up a commanding lead as Stephen Woods kicked three points in quick succession. Nicky Killane sent in a perfectly floating ball, which ended up in the back of the St. Lomans net. A late point for St. Lomans left six points between the sides at the interval on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-4.

On the resumption, St. Lomans, aided with a very strong breeze, scored an unanswered 1-3 and by the 38th minute it was level pegging. St. Lomans were very dominant and took charge of proceedings. Caulry’s only score of the second half came in the 60th minute from pointed-free from Pat Buckley. The match finished on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-8.
