Division 1 ACFL
Caulry 2-6
Rosemount 3-12
Caulry suffered another defeat in this year’s Division 1 ACFL as they made the journey to Rosemount on Wednesday last.
Rosemount opened the scoring tally with three unanswered points. Conor McCormack pointed on the 11th minute to narrow the margins. However, the opposition went on a quick scoring blitz which yielded 2-3. Declan Donohoe defended well in the closing stages of the half as a point from Eoin Fox left the scoreboard reading 2-6 to 0-2 at the interval.
On the resumption, our lads fought hard. Some good defending from Conor Dolan and Sean Clinton enabled David Brookes to rattle the back of the Rosemount net. A good pass from Gavin Byrne found Robbie Hickey who pointed to leave just four points between the sides on the quarter hour mark. Rosemount soon found their feet, scoring 1-1. Our lads worked hard as a point and goal from Hickey and Brookes respectively narrowed the deficit once again. The teams traded scores with McCormack on target. However, our lads chased the deficit throughout as Rosemount tapped over four more points to run out worthy winners on a scoreline of 3-12 to 2-6.
