Minor Championship

Caulry 1-10

Rosemount 1-13

Caulry made the short journey to Rosemount on Wednesday evening last and came up short against the home side. Apart from a period in the second quarter, our lads did not play with the confidence and fluency of previous games. This and ultimately, missing what would normally be three very scoreable frees proved to be their undoing. Stephen Brookes was outstanding in defence and well supported by Aaron Roarke and Colin Shortall. However further afield only Patrick Sleator and Hugh Allen reached required levels, although others could certainly not be faulted for effort. Overall the team can be pleased with some excellent performances throughout the year, and there is certainly the nucleus of a very good team going forward, even if this was one that may have got away. Our thanks to the management team of Richie Higgins, Colin White, John Madden and Donie Malone for their efforts.

Under 16 Championship Division 3 Semi-Final

Caulry 3-15

Killucan 6-3

Caulry Under 16 team gave an exhibition of all out football on Monday week last in the semi-final against Killucan. Played in the local park, the men in red and white moved the ball at pace to accumulate excellent team scores and lead 3-8 to 1-1 at the half way stage. They continued in the same vein in the early stages of the second half against the shell shocked visitors, until their ‘old Achilles heel’ returned. For the second game in row, we proceeded to concede a series of very soft goals, which left the scoreline much closer than it should at the final whistle. We now go forward to the final, knowing that we have the talent to go all the way, but must find a way to prevent the concession of goals. As the Dubs found out, a shootout does not always prevail. Nevertheless, it would be unfair to rain on what was otherwise a superb performance, which greatly entertained the good sized attendance. Again it was a good all round performance, with Sean Clinton, Charlie Parker, Conor McCormack, and Jordan Dunning particularly excelling.

Coralstown-Kinnegad 2-5

Caulry had a good home victory against Coralstown-Kinnegad on Thursday evening last. Playing some excellent fast football from the start, Caulry led 2-10 to 1-3 at the break. They continued this on the restart and never looked likely to be overhauled by physically smaller visiting team, who also produced passages of good football on a lovely balmy autumn evening. This was another good all round team performance with Jack Sheehan, Eoin Shortall, Darren Browne, Neil Clinton, Liam Doyle and Adam Donoghue stand out performers.
