All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw

Caulry are holding an All Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw on Friday 15th September 2017 in Egan’s Pub, Mount Temple. There are lots of prizes up for grabs on the night including four tickets for the All Ireland Football Final. Tickets are €5 each or €10 for a book of three and are available from any committee member and Kieran’s shop, Mount Temple.

Senior Championship Fixture

Our senior team play their final two vital championship games this week. On Wednesday Tubberclair GAA will play host to old rivals Caulry and Maryland for the fourth round of this year’s SFC. When both sides last met in the championship, Caulry edged out the opposition on a scoreline of 3-7 to 3-5. Kick-off for this local derby is at pm and our lads will be hoping a win on the evening will pave the way to success for this week’s second outing against Coralstown/Kinnegad. This clash of colours will take place on the following Saturday evening in Cusack Park at 5:30pm. Both matches are vital in order to retain senior status for the 2018 campaign. All supporters are asked to get behind the lads!

U16 Championship

Caulry 0-15

Killucan 2-11

A goal at the start of each half proved our undoing in this entertaining Under 16 championship clash played at sun splashed Caulry pitch on Monday last. The match was very competitively championship like contested throughout with end to end, great scores, incidents and big hits, with ultimately the ‘rub of the green’ going the visitors way. After the early goal, the teams traded points to leave the interval score 1-7 to 0-7.

The second half followed a similar pattern, but time ran out despite an excellent performance from all our lads. James Clavin gave us good possession from his clearances and kick-outs. Daniel Buckley and Rory Mullins proved good anchors for the central defence, with Luke Hamilton, Colm Shortall and Zach Nolan back to their tough uncompromising best. Ciaran Gaynor and Olan Healy as usual ran themselves to a standstill. James Carey having his best game of the year, gave a fine midfield display. Thomas Dunning and Adam Donoghue, performed excellently in a variety of positions and roles, in addition to providing great leadership. Alan Malynn and Senan Baker were a constant threat, with Senan’s predatory instincts denied by three brilliant goalkeeper saves which would surely have changed the outcome. Shane Hynes and Leroy Coughlan worked their socks off, while Shane Lawless and Sean Murphy gave fresh impetus to our challenge upon their introduction. We now await the draw for the quarter final where hopefully we’ll have a full complement to choose from.

U14 Championship

Caulry vs. Moate

Moate 5-7

Caulry and Moate served up an exciting encounter in the local park on Thursday evening last for the latest round of U14 championship fixtures.

The visitors raced out of the tracks with a fine goal to take the lead. Our boys were slow to settle and were guilty of missing some scoring opportunities as the Moate lads began to push on with an unanswered 2-2. Alan Malynn got Caulry off the mark with a fine point from play on the 22^nd minute. However, Moate responded well with a point of their own. Despite some good efforts from Shane Lawless and Paul Hogan, our boys struggled upfront. Ruiari Casey brought off a number of vital intercepts as a pointed-free from Malynn reduced the deficit. Ben Claffey and Lawless defended well as the ball was worked brilliantly up the field and slotted into the net by Malynn. A good pass from Sean Murphy found Oisin Shortall who kicked the last score of the half to leave the scoreboard reading 3-3 to 1-4 at the interval.

Moate hit the ground running again in the second half with their opening score coming inside the opening 60 seconds. Malynn proved hard to handle in the Caulry attack as he rattled the back of the Moate net for a second time to leave just three points the margin. Senan Baker fielded well as the game went on a point-for-point basis with Baker and Malynn on target. Malynn worked hard, scoring his hattrick to edge Caulry in front by the 46^th minute. Another pointed-free from Malynn left a mere two points between the sides. However, this lead was short lived as Moate responded with a quick 1-1 on the 50^th minute. Alan Lynam done well when put under pressure as three unanswered points from Malynn and Adam Doyle edged Caulry in front once again. However, this game was far from over as a converted-penalty on the 58^th minute left Moate leading by two. Moate pointed soon after to stretch their lead. However, the Caulry boys dug deep and must be admired for their never-say-die attitude as a late goal from Baker meant the match finished all square on a scoreline of 4-10 to 5-7.

The club wishes James Buckley a speedy recovery after he picked up a nasty injury during the game. Everyone hopes to see James back playing for Caulry very soon.

On the following Sunday morning, our U14 boys made the journey to Killucan for their second championship outing of the week.The Caulry boys played well as a team throughout the game and dominated proceedings from early on. Our lads played patches of nice combined football and accounted for a myriad of fine scores which left them leading 3-5 to 2-3 at the interval. Caulry took charge in the second half with a brace of goals. The homeside never gave up, reducing the deficit with a myriad of points throughout the second half. Ultimately, our lads proved too strong for the opposition and ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 9-11 to 4-8.
