A-taking-to of-a-Nineuê, a-paperlet of-a-seeeeing of-a-Naoum of-the-one of-an-Elkesaios.
Note: this seeeeing, which occurred 76 yrs. after Jonah's mission to Nineveh, was given to Nahum in 611 B.C., as the Assyrians, having conquered Samaria and seeing Israel's fallen condition (2Ki_17:5-23), began to cease fearing the LORD (Nah_1:9; 2Ki_17:24-25); it predicts Nineveh would be turned against the LORD (Nah_1:11), and later defeated (Nah_3:6-10); Nineveh was turned when Sennacherib moved there and made it the Assyrian capital, and came against Judah in 603 B.C. (2Ki_18:13); it was defeated during Nabopolassar's rule of Babylon (Jer_50:18); see chart Dan_1:1.
