Sunrise from our balcony

Our first full day in Las Vegas. We had brought various bits with us from the last couple of stops so we now have enough to make breakfast in the room. This was a nice change to the usual routine of eating out. It did mean that we almost missed the housekeeper though as they had already left a 'we tried to clean but you were Do Not Disturb' message. Fortunately, as we were leaving, they were just next door so we asked for them to visit us after.

This morning we were off down to the High Roller Ferris wheel which currently is the highest in the world at 550 feet at its highest. It's behind the Ballys hotel which is a fair walk for us - especially when, as we're in Tower 3 of the Signature - it takes us 15 minutes just to get into the MGM, walking through the other two towers, then another 5 minutes to walk through the MGM before we hit the Strip.

It's been very windy throughout most of the day.

Very windy today

But the sun is still shining and it's comfortably warm. Finally we reached the wheel.

We reached it just as its opening, so it was easy to join the short queue and get onto one of the first pods - it wasn't too busy either. It was quite a nice trip around. I did a time lapse movie with my big camera.

And I also set up my phone to do one too.

The wheel takes you up to 550 feet over Vegas.

Once back down it was approaching lunch time, so we decided to walk back to the MGM and go for some food in the Rainforest Cafe there. The walk back showed quite a few adverts for the show we are seeing in the evening.

It was still quite windy in places, especially in the exposed road bridges that you walk over to cross the main bridges. Here's Linda getting caught by an up-draft.

very windy

At the restaurant, we both had the chicken. Linda took a shining to one of their cocktails.

Number two!

Well, I say one, she had two!

Back at the hotel we had a hour or so before it was time to get ready for the Meatloaf show.

Off to the show

All cleaned up

The show is in the Planet Hollywood casino which is quite close to us. We also decided to come out of the car area, which allows us to walk around the side of the hotel, without going through the other towers and the MGM (which take us in the wrong direction to some extent). This knocked maybe 15 minutes off the trip.

As for the show...

Sadly Meatloaf doesn't have the voice he once had. But after reading similarly doomed reviews from others, we were fearing the worst. The show itself was actually entertaining. The backing band certainly helped and the duets worked really well. Even the stories and monologues which were part of the show were amusing too. We both enjoyed it in the end, much more than we expected to. It's encouraged me to did out some of those old tracks too!

To finish - here's the sunset from our balcony
