[18:29 EDT]

Today we drove south again. This time to a nearby national park called Myakka River State Park.

It's a nature area, primarily lakes and boggy areas. There's a reasonable amount of wildlife too apparently.

In fact one of the first things we saw were eggs near the road.

Mystery eggs

It has a long 6 mile drive through through the natural area.

Lots of boggy areas

This was the usual thing we saw - boggy area with lots of trees. However, Linda suddenly noticed something moving.

Linda spots a deer

It was a small deer. As we watched, the parents arrived.

They fed for a few minutes then ran off into the distance.

We drove on and stopped at a picnic area to have some lunch. It seemed like a nice place, near the water with a nice breeze.

Picnic by the lake

Half way through lunch we notice something swimming along the far back.

An alligator swims close by

It was a small alligator, swimming along the edge of the river. Linda decided it was time to move!

Also...

Yikes

So we finished our lunch elsewhere.

On the way back, we stopped off at a small nature area, saw this little fellow.

Action Squirrel!

But not much else in that area - barring mosquitoes, of which there were plenty.

On the drive home we stopped off again at Publix to restock some stuff for home.
