[08:32 EST]

Today is our last day of our holiday. We (well, Linda) is packing up the last of the items into the cases. We need to check out by 10am. From there, as we are flying on Virgin, we can drive over to Disney Springs and drop our cases off at the early check-in that Virgin run. This then frees us up to do something else for a few hours before we have to return the car at 17:00 US time.

Quite what we will be doing we've not decided yet. We still have tickets which will allow us into Universal or Sea World (the Disney tickets have now expired) so they are both options.

Our flight tonight was pushed back 30 minutes a few months back, not sure why, so we are not supposed to take off until 18:45 tonight. We shouldn't need to worry about baggage this time as we used our flying-club miles to bag a first class flight home - hence the odd return day of a Monday. We'd normally fly home on a Saturday, landing on Sunday, but there were no 1st class flights on that weekend, so we had to bump it over to Monday.

[17:03]

We are at the airport now. Sitting in the Delta lounge which is nice and empty.

So we were all packed up and out of the apartment just after 10am. There's photos of the apartment in the album at the bottom of the page.

It all fits OK

But it all fitted in the car so all good.

Our first stop was at Disney Springs to drop off our cases.

That was all done smoothly and we got no HEAVY labels on the cases (they were all under 23KG). It helped I suppose that we had an extra 5th case inside one of the others on the way out which took up the excess on the way home :)

We left Disney Springs and went to a nearby IHOP for something to eat.

Once we'd had some food we drove up International Drive to visit the Orlando Eye. It's another big observation wheel similar to the London Eye.

The wheel is 400 feet high and offers views over central Orlando. The view towards Disney was misty - I think I could see EPCOT but not 100% sure.

EPCOT I think

You could definitely see Universal Studios though.

Universal Studios

To the immediate East of us was a building described on the material as Lockheed Martins missile centre.

Martins Missile Complex apparently

We finished the ride then wandered through a Madame Tussauds which had a number of figures, most of whom we could identify.

No Einstein

As you can see, you could get quite close to the models, although they did look more plastic than wax.

From there, it was off to the airport to return the car. Here's my driving statistics for the holiday.

We didn't even use half a tank of petrol by my estimate.

Then off to the airport.

Through security - my rucksack got swabbed for chemicals - then into the lounge to relax and change for the flight.
