[17:52]

It was a moving day today. The early part of the morning was spent packing everything up, four cases, two rucksacks, a splattering of bags and two cold boxes.

The cases were easy enough to move, but we needed to get hold of one of their shopping trolleys to move all the other stuff from the fourth level down to the car port.

We pulled out at just before 10am and left Sanibel under low cloud and high humidity.

This is all due to Hurricane Sandy that's currently travelling North up the Atlantic.

Windy and wet weather promised in Orlando

Sandy is well out in the Atlantic, but Florida will feel the effects - there is high winds expected along Florida's East coast (Cocoa Beach, where we stayed in 2010). But here in Orlando, which is in the centre of the state, there is raised winds, but also overcast and a 40% chance of rain tomorrow. That might put a dampener on things so to speak.

The journey up from Sanibel to Orlando was pretty uneventful. We took the centre route, missing out most of the interstates and just drove almost directly along Highway 80 then onto 27. It took about three and a half hours not including a short stop off. Mainly, it was lots of this...

Long long road for highway 80 then 27

Long straight roads... long, long and straight. Did I mention they were long?

Eventually, the traffic increased, rain splashed the wind shield and we arrived at Orlando.

Check-in was pretty painless. Our day tickets for tomorrow have been added to our room keys so there's no need to go and collect tickets from anywhere else now!

Checking in

Our room if nice - only issue being that it's 2 minutes walk from the nearest car-park.

Room is in a remote area

Not too bad I hear you mutter - but try lugging four cases, two rucksacks, a splattering of bags and two cold boxes along those two minutes and you'll change your tune... Oh and we're upstairs too!
