[22:24]

We popped down to the local Publix store this morning to pick up some supplies. We move on this Tuesday, so it was a case of getting a few things that we know will be harder to come by (or more expensive) when we get to Sanibel Island. We stopped off for a coffee on the way back.

Later in the day, we moved over to the beach again. It was more cloudy than recently, but still very warm. There was also a slight breeze which churned the water a little so that when I went for a quick snorkel, the best photo I could come up with was

More diving but too cloudy

the water also seemed much greener than yesterday which made visibility a lot harder.

After we'd both had a dip in the sea we sat at the edge of the beach to dry off. Eventually, we ended up watching the sun go down. At least this sunset was a better one than some we've seen recently.

There are more like that in the slideshow below.

Once we'd packed up and returned to the apartment, we changed then decided to order a collection pizza from the local Pizza Hut. You could do it all online and have it ready for collection at a specified time. Well, we arrived there at the shop, in the middle of a semi-deserted strip mall, three minutes before time. I left Linda in the car and jumped out to pick it up. Everything looked fine, but things took a turn for the worse once I got back in the car. I tried to start the engine but the car wouldn't start up. Even more bizzare, the key wouldn't come out of the ignition - it was stuck there!

15 minutes of frantic key jigging later, we'd exhausted the only option that was shown in the car handbook, so I had to go online(!!!) to get the number of Dollar to see if they knew the issue as to why the car has seemingly stopped. I could see a small icon with a car and a padlock flashing all the time so I assumed the engine might have immobilised itself. I got through to the assistance line who took me through the usual stuff - is the battery flat? Is there a release button to get the key out that sort of thing. Only whilst I was going through some odd reset routine did I notice that the car was still in DRIVE gear. These new cars will lock the engine if they are left in gear to avoid them accidentally moving off.

So there we'd sat, for 30 minutes in a dark car park, with a rapidly cooling pizza, all because I'd somehow left it in gear. This is what I felt like by the time we got home...

May I present... numpty!

;)

It's my birthday tomorrow!!! I wonder what goodies Linda has in store for me???
