[18:45 PDT]

Linda is mewing beside me at the moment. She's missing her Starbucks, traffic, shops, she's missing civilisation!

We've been here about 2 hours.

Cabin is reasonable, although the lack of air-con might be a problem since it is very hot here at the moment. There are ceiling fans in the main room and the bedroom, but I'm not convinced they'll do the job.

No kettle anywhere in the room so there will be no morning coffee. Still, the view looks nice in the back porch. I want the hammock that the cabin next door has got :(

Our drive here was fairly uneventful. We had more issues getting the car in the first place.

Guy on the Dollar desk said that he only had a Chrysler 300 car (a saloon) for us, but we've used this car before and it's not Linda friendly (i.e. you can't get all the luggage into it).

I pestered him for a while and eventually he called another depot and managed to find a Pacifica for us. We went out to do some last minute shopping whilst we waited for it to be delivered.

Fortunately, it arrived in time and we left San Francisco (civilisation) at just after 12 noon.

Part of our journey took us through the low foot-hills before Yosemite - they must have been having fire issues as lots of the vegetation is charred and looking very sorry for itself. Fortunately, what we saw of the Yosemite area itself, that area hasn't suffered the in the same way,

We stopped for a meal at a small roadside diner about a hour outside Yosemite. Sat-nav took us past the actual site and we were guided back by a helpful ranger at the entrance to Hetch Hetchy (I think it's called).

We finally reached the park and have unloaded our luggage. The Pacifica looks a bit worse for wear at the moment, due to Tom-tom's 'shortcut' along a dirt track. We'll have to get it cleaned at some point - rain is not looking likely.
