Saturday 8th

[14:06 EDT]

Just had some lunch on the balcony, a couple of rolls. Now Linda's settling into another afternoon on the sun lounger with her Kindle. Her favourite place!

Earlier today we drove over to Bradenton - the nearest large town to where we are staying - to have a look around their farmers market that meets each Saturday.

Every Saturday

It was a moderate sized affair, catering for mainly vegetables and other home grown/made produce.

Multi-coloured carrots there.

We also came across the largest dog I may have ever seen.

Pretty large hound

However, the real aim of today was to find this place...

Mmmmm

And to partake of its delights for exchange of a modest fee. Yum!

Linda also picked up some home made toffee (similar to brittle at home)

We then headed home, stopping off a couple of times. One of those stops was at a Walgreens, where Linda insisted she was just popping in for a packet of Advil. 30 MINUTES later she reappears with a bag of make-up to find me melted in the car. -50 Brownie points there!

After lunch, I popped back down to the car in the car park underneath the complex. It's been covered in a sheen of salt spray since we arrived (whether collected on the drive down here, or covered by the sea spray whilst parked in the car park, I don't know) and it has made seeing outside quite difficult.

So I moved the car over to the car wash area - yes, this place has a small area reserved for washing the car. It has a very high pressure hose which made washing the car simple. That's probably the first time I've ever washed a rental car!

During the rest of the afternoon we sat in the apartment or out on the balcony until the sun had set.

Then it was off to find something to eat. Initially, we'd thought of a place we went to last year called Hurricanes. However, on checking their menu, I discovered that the place had a kitchen fire in May this year so wasn't open. So I looked further to find something similar. I decided on a place called Boiler House Bar and Grill which was nearby. It had good reviews. The place was a small bar, complete with jukebox and pool table. Paper plates, weak coke (how you do that I don't know) but the food itself was OK, just not the sort of place we'd go back to again.

Once back home, Linda settled down to her Saturday task of watching X-Factor on the sofa.
