Sunday 8th

This morning I went down for the early walk with my camera (which had been sitting outside, keeping warm) and walked down to the 55+ residential park which is to the East of us.

Early walk

It's a small community of mainly fixed temporary homes (we'd call then Chalets in the UK maybe). The area seems mostly unaffected by the recent hurricane, although they were being affected by the high tides which were leaving pools of water in the low-laying areas.

Wet on the floor

Got some nice sunrise photos. See the album below.

Finally I returned to the beach in front of the apartment. The waves were a lot stronger that they usually are and for the first time ever, I saw water up near the top of the beach, so the high tide at 1am must have been pretty high.

The high tides have been caused by a combination of the full moon, the winds from far-off hurricane Nate which were pushing our way, and the usual high tide. All three are working together to make the swell in our area higher that we've ever seen before.

Slo-mo wave

Back to the apartment for breakfast.

Most of the rest of the day was taken up with stuff on the TV. There was the F1 race from Japan, followed by an uninspiring England 1-0 win over Lithuania in their last World Cup qualifiers. Lastly, Linda's X-Factor (part 2) was on so she watched that whilst I got into my book (History of Blackadder).

Just before we were due to go out we got a strong rain shower pass over. I was running a time-lapse at the time (until the camera got wet!) and you can see it moving over in the video below.

Dinner was in the Outback Restaurant.
