[17:52]

We started today with a rare eat-out breakfast, driving the 15 minutes over to the nearest IHOP for some pancake goodness :)

From there we came back to the apartment and loaded up with some drinks in our cold box then drove off south to see what's there.

We stopped off at a place called Lido Beach, just on the outskirts of Sarasota. There were plenty of benches to sit and that's where I left Linda and her Kindle whilst I went for a walk through a short nature walk which had been preserved to look like the original coastline - it wasn't always white sand and car parks.

I spotted a raccoon, some lizards, fish and butterflies and even some tiny burrowing crabs.

It was very quiet being away from all the people, not that there were many about in this area. Sadly, it started to rain when I was about half way around, but as it was still very warm, I carried on regardless.

It starts to rain

By the time I got back to Linda, the rain clouds had moved across the waterway where she was sitting. It was certainly getting very dark over there. We even heard the odd rumble of thunder. All of a sudden, the wind changed direction and the dark clouds started coming back our way.

We decided to return to the apartment before the rain arrived. By the time we'd driven the 15 minutes North, it was back to bright sunshine again and the only clouds were those we'd left behind. We decided to have our last walk along the beach here in Anna Maria as tomorrow we are moving further South on to another island - Sanibel. Indeed, Linda is upstairs as I type, doing some early packing in preparation.

As it's my birthday, we're going to get some take out Chinese tonight. yum!
