Weather was a beautiful day today - almost cloudless and a lot less humid than of late.

So we took advantage of the good weather and drove over to the Bayfront beach on the north of the island. It was deserted when we arrived. We took the beach trolly that's in the apartment. Supposed to make it easier to move stuff about on the beach.

Beach Trolly

We took the Kindles over there and sat for a good few hours in the sun/shade of a nearby bush. We'd also taken over some food for lunch and had that on the beach too.

There were a couple of birds moving about on the beach, no dolphins swam by though.

We also had a visit from a hungry heron which was staking up and down the beach.

This place looks odd to us now as there used to be a pier here up until a year ago. It was called the Anna Maria City Pier and we'd walked along it a few times.

Pier no more

Last year, the fishing pier was damaged by hurricane Irma in September, just before we arrived last year. In July 2018 it was torn down. The photo on the left was from 2017, the one of the right was taken today. They plan to rebuild it next year. The pier was over 100 years old.

Once back at the apartment, it was dip in the pool time before we sat and watched the sunset. There was hardly any clouds about, sadly it's not as prone for good photos as a more cloudy sky might.

We ordered in Chinese for dinner tonight. Then caught up on another Ozark on Netflix.
